  1. I was so excited when we drafted him. I truly thought being under the wing of Greg Olsen he was going to become a star. He has never step up and done anything. A play here and there to tease us but for the most part he's been non existent. I would rather see Fitterer get a low round pick for him but based on the talent we have at TE. He's #4. Trade or Cut.
  2. I believe he's done and hope Fitterer can find a trade partner.
  3. I would almost bet that the RedHogs are one of the finalist. I saw where that was popular because back in their glory days their offensive line was called the hogs. Plus many fans to this day wear those hog noses to the games. Brigade and Commanders are probably my favorites.
  4. I don't post here much (mostly Panther forum) but after watching some of the summer league games and some YouTube comments LiAngelo. I think he's for real. The Hornet Summer team was a bunch of players trying to show off. There was little to no passing to the open guy. LiAngelo consistently was TRYING to play team ball. Go watch the videos of him during these games you'll see what I mean. Bouknight was abysmal. Terrible shot selection, wasn't looking for the open man, turnover after turnover and did nothing to impress me. I'm not worried though, once he gets to training camp he'll be reared in. Ball may not be a starter or even a major contributor but IMO he has the skills and toughness to play in this league. I also would not look past the Ball combination. LeMelo is amazing at finding the open man and big brother knows this. Plus LeMelo knows when the ball is in his hand if LiAngelo isn't standing wide open for a three he'll be cutting to the basket. Don't underestimate this combo. The videos mention that he can guard 1 through 4. I hope he makes the team. If they got all three Ball's what fun it would be.
  5. WINNER of the dumbest comment of the day. It's one day of practice. Receivers had a bad day, __it happens. You take stats from a practice session and compare it to his days in NYC. DUMB. Sure he had a couple bad throws, as most NFL QBs do, but failed to acknowledge that the receivers had a number of drops which would destroyed your ridiculous comparison. This "I told you so" from this fan base is so disheartening. It seems like the majority of posters on here want him to fail so they can say "I told you so." Majority of these are the couch GMs that wanted Fields so badly that they grasp at anything they can to justify they are right. Right or Wrong Sam Darnold is our QB so get used to it. I pray you don't have an aneurism when he proves he is worth much more than we had to give up for him.
  6. The LT spot is difficult to decide. Do you trade away draft capital for a LT on a team that he's not starting for? Trade for a disgruntled player? Trade for an aging Vet? IMO all of these could set us back further than what we are now. If we are going to trade for a player than that player HAS TO BE PROVEN on the field otherwise you are gambling with your future. Winning franchises, win through solid drafts not free agency. You fill in gaps with Free Agency. It seems that Erving is not panning out, which is sad to here because he was that Fill in the gap player. I think our best option is to sign Russell Okung again. Draft OT in 2022. He's been out all preseason and should be healed from his injuries. I would assume he is in good shape just waiting for a call. If we remember, Jonathan Stewart was always out of preseason and once the season started he was good. One last thing on Okung, he won't cost us any draft capital. If he were to go down again at least we have Erving to replace him or move Moton over to LT. Or possibly Christensen has developed enough to go to LT. As far who they are extending I hope it isn't Anderson. As I said before you build through the draft. We just drafted two players in Marshall and Smith that can take the role of Anderson. They're young and cheap. Not to mention that C.J. Saunders is making a huge bid to be in our final 53. You work on signing our draft pick DJ Moore and let Anderson walk. If we continue to sign our draft picks we build continuity and loyalty to the Panther Organization.
  7. i Watched a video from Rhule after the practice and he said Sam had several throws right in the hands of the receiver and they dropped it. This is hardly Sam's fault. We had a bad day in the receiving department IN PRACTICE. He also mentioned the running game portion of practice was very good. STOP WITH THE SKY IS FALLING NARRATIVE. So lame.
  8. Yes, He was definitely a fan favorite which made watching him go tougher than usual.
  9. First of all, I think Darnold is going to be fine. I think he'll utilize the weapons he never had in NY. If he goes down and is playing well. Just run with PJ. If he goes down and he is crapping the bed. Just run with PJ and get a top pick. OR If Watson clears up his legal issues (which doesn't seem likely anytime soon) Trade for him. They only way I see us going after Minshew is that he is either cut (They did sign CJ Beathard 2yr deal) or take a low round pick for him. I think we are doing too well in the draft recently to give up capital for a adequate QB. I think most agree he won't take us to the SB. As a former ECU Pirate (many moons ago) I would love to see him as a Panther but I just don't see it happening.
  10. I think Sam knows what it is like to get sacked in the NFL. I don't think we need preseason games for him to know what it's like. I would believe it is going to be just like the Colts practice. Ones will get most of the reps in the two practices. Twos and Threes in the game. The Panthers did a great job scheduling preseason. We have 3 quality teams that we will play and 2 of them we have extra practices with. Rhule said we were significantly better after the week of practice with the Colts. We still have a ways to go but we are definitely better than we were before those practices/Preseason game.
  11. Another Panther player (though only short time) I remember we signed him and then waived him because of an infection (I believe) I've always thought that there was someone more to that than we were told. Another Hurney F up. Bashaud Breeland looks like the clear starter opposite Patrick Peterson,
  12. I was watching YouTube yesterday and they had Rhule in for an interview and he was asked a 2 part question the second question was what Rhule thought of Hoskins. When he answered he only answered the first question and didn't comment on Hoskins. He replied after the next question and his only comment was Hoskins has a long way to go. I hope he makes the team though. Seems he has some ability.
  13. I thought these were well written and cuts through some of the hype (good and bad) for each team NFC 2021 NFL preseason Week 1: What we learned about each NFC team CAROLINA PANTHERS P.J. Walker took a step toward winning the backup quarterback job (again) during the preseason opener. The guy just makes plays. ... The Panthers' left tackle spot is one of the weakest in football, with Trent Scott and Greg Little up first in their rotation Sunday. (UPDATE: The Panthers traded Greg Little to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2022 seventh-round selection, the team announced Tuesday.) I wonder if the team would consider playing rookie third-rounder Brady Christensen there or sliding Taylor Moton to the blind side permanently. ... Denzel Perryman's injury has highlighted the Panthers' lack of options at off-ball linebacker, once the team's bread and butter. ... A young Panthers squad is only going to get younger, with second-rounder Terrace Marshall closing in on winning the No. 3 receiver job while fellow rookie Chuba Hubbard's motor could win him the backup running back spot. AFC 2021 NFL preseason Week 1: What we learned about each AFC team Some interesting former Panther takes. "Efe Obada is reportedly having a standout camp and can play multiple positions." I'm happy for him. It's really a great story. "Former Panthers first-round pick Vernon Butler may not make the team." I guess 2020 was a one hit wonder.
  14. I think it isn't a surprise. Going from college to the NFL is difficult. One of his attributes that he came to us with was athletism. He's getting good coaching and he's learning his craft. I hope he gets some time with the 1s and learns even more. IMO he'll continue to develop and soon he'll be in the starting line up for many years to come for us.
  15. How about a little luck and alot of determination. I thought he was going down but maintained his balance and broke it outside. Good Running backs do that.
  16. Right before the game started he talked about the preseason practice and said we won on Wednesday and lost Thursday. We lost on Thursday is correct but we won on Friday.
  17. That's what really surprised me too. Nixon was the Big 10 DPOY so I was expecting a little bit of flash from him but nothing exciting.
  18. Agreed If I could take 4 throws back and try again those would be it. 2 to Zylstra and 2 to Marshall.
  19. Love the zip pass and receivers have to be able to come down with those shots. However, a well placed ball can be just as effective as trying to throw it though a tiny gap. PJ puts a little air, not a lot, just a little and drops it in. Marshall makes those catches.
  20. I wouldn't say clearly but he's making a case. I'd prefer a bit more accuracy and some touch now and than.
  21. I think the past 25 year argument is probably the worst argument you can have in this forum. Each season is new, different players, different rules. You can give your reasons why the past sucked. Hurney, Fox, Rivera and the list goes on and on but each season (most of them) starts with hope. We should start each season with our pessimistic or optimistic attitudes but with valid talking points. I think there are some extreme rose colored-glasses fans as well as the sky is falling fans. What I do notice mostly, NOT ALL, is that the majority of negative threads and comments are simple statements with rarely any backing opinion. And God Forbid you have a difference of opinion. Mud starts to fly then. Insane.
  22. Hoskins was a beast in the 2nd half but I know I saw him on the field in the 1st half. I saw him blow up his opponent a couple of times in the 2nd half but really didn't notice much in the first half. Anyone have their takes on him in the 1st half? I saw Nixon in there but really didn't hear his name too often. He was one I thought might be a steal. Thoughts?
  23. IMO PJ isn't the answer either. As much grief as Grier has been getting. PJ has some pretty bad throws as well. The only thing I did like was the velocity he throws with. A lot of zip but no touch. Marshall had two plays (I can immediately recall) out there that he missed because there was no touch on the ball. Darnold drops it in and those are catches instead of PBUs. Honestly, if Darnold goes down, I am on the phone to P. Rivers and see if he wants a curtain call. He recently said he would consider the option.
