I would be happy with either Darnold or Minshew ( in that order). Darnold has not had the best of team around him in NY and I think a change of scenery will do him well. I've also said that Minshew would do well with this offense. He's in the mold of Jake Delhomme and would bring some fire to our offense. Jimmy G. I am not interested in.
-
He the perfect stopgap if Tepper is holding out for Watson. 10x better than Teddy, "I can't throw the deep ball" Bridgewater. We bring Minshew in and he performs well maybe we could actual trade him for a higher pick than what we got him for. There is absolutely zero reason why we shouldn't consider him. I personally think he would flourish in our offense. He'll have the greatest weapon in the backfield that can run great routes too. If we could get him for a 3rd or 4th I would jump like a wildcat on it. We are going to upgrade our team in the draft, there's no doubt about it. Along with the free agents we have this team is going to win more than 5 games next year. So we'll further down the draft list and Howell will be out of our range. I still believe we will end up with Watson as soon as his BS charges are cleared up.

If we are going after Watson than why waste a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a QB that will be nothing more than a back-up. If PJ isn't the answer than maybe Minshew or stick with Teddy. The last thing we need to do is compound the problem by picking a QB that may or may not be better than the players we already have on the roster. I'd rather us the 2nd round pick on a player like Creed Humpries or a solid CB.

Hopium - We might have a shot at Sewell
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's a shytty dilemma for us. Do we wait the Watson legal issues out, even if it means getting him next year. Do we forego Watson and take one of the QBs available if they happen to fall to 8. I think Tepper wants Watson and will wait this issue out. That said I think we'll build the best team we can around whatever QB we put on the field, even if it means Teddy B again. If Slater or Sewell is there at 8 I think we can take him. However, trading down might not be a bad idea either. I just hope the draft gets here soon before half this forum has an aneurism. -
I don't think anyone on here is saying PJ is the answer. PJ has a willingness to win. It amazes me the critics on a players that has played 1-1/4 games. There isn't a rookie ever to play that didn't make mistakes. Hopefully, he learns from his mistakes and improves. What I do believe is PJ with the weapons we have will utilize the entire field and give us a chance to win. I don't want to be in almost every game and know that our QB doesn't have the balls to come back and win. I hope they give PJ a chance and allow us to build the rest of the team this season. Trade for Watson next year if he clears his legal issues.

My opinion is Tepper still wants Watson and is going to wait this out even if it means going another season with Teddy or another fill in QB. Defense is looking promising and hopefully we'll build a good offensive line and run with what we have. When the smoke clears on Watson, if he doesn't go to jail, we'll make that trade. -
49ers trading up to number 3 with Miami!
DaveThePanther2008 replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm watching ESPN and on the notes on the bottom line there was a quote from the 49ers. Jimmy's not going anywhere, He's our guy. Smokescreen or legit. Huddle have at it. -

Did they want too much or were they not budging from the pick. -
If we don't add a veteran QB than I would rather see PJ than TB5.

49ers trading up to number 3 with Miami!
DaveThePanther2008 replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
You have to wonder if the 49ers tried to get the 2nd pick from the Jets and they wouldn't budge off the pick. If that is the case than Darnold might be available. That also leave Atlanta with the decision on whether they want to take a chance on Lance. What I am hoping is the 49ers will be happy with either Wilson or Fields and we are on the phone right now with the Jets and offering 3 1st round picks. -
Jimmy G to Carolina, I guess?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd rather have Minshew over Jimmy G. With Jacksonville signing Beathard the other day the chances of getting him in trade might be possible. Either that they cut him. -

It's possible that 4 QBs will be gone by the 4th pick. -
Agreed he should have fired Hurney when he let Rivera go. You actually bring up just another reason why we didn't go LT. Little. He's so bad he's forgetful. Totally forgot about Little. Sadly, Little is added to Hurney's list of terrible 2nd round picks. Okung was brought in to fix the left side and mentor a 2nd year LT. Both failed miserably. The mentality was we address LT and could take Brown. I understand your after the fact mentality (not to insult you) and we let two really good LT go to other teams but hindsight is 20/20.
-
Seriously? You really expect to see a winner in two season? I think he has done very well. He's brought in a coach that is pointing us in the right direction. Hired a GM that has many of us excited. Good or bad he is determined to get a quality QB and will do whatever it takes to make it happen.
-
I kind of knew you would pick Brown but though Brown wasn't a statistic monster he was exactly what we needed. We had Okung signed and should have filled that role we desperately needed at OT. If we could have seen into the future and known he would be out half the season I could understand but our defense would have been the worse in the league.
-
He's not going to be a starter but a contributor. I would have liked to seen him play for us next year but though he never played for McDermott. I am sure they saw that he can contribute. Hell they got our former first round pick Butler to play well. I'm sure they will get enough out of Obada to make it worth the money.
-
He'll probably fall to the latter rounds because of the injury and drop-off in his play. That said this is the type of player Rhule likes. Versatile and athletic. Which round do you think he'll go.
-
Especially when Rhule and Fitterer have already said that OL would be a priority in the draft. This draft would also be with the assumption that we are staying with TB5 or signed a Vet QB.
-
We'll have to wait and see his potential. If he was thrown in the fire last year to fill in he may not have look as good as he can be. Given full reps at LT in OTAs and minicamps may help him get to the point where he plays well. If he doesn't start at LT his versatility will help us when someone goes down. The negativity on this board is amazing. So many people bitch about not drafting one last season. Tell me which player you would give up for the LT. Brown? YGM? Chinn? Each one of those players filled a huge need for us. Hopefully, we find a QB and can address those positions in the draft otherwise we fill them with the players that fit our need both physically and economically.

Let's talk about Rondale Moore
DaveThePanther2008 replied to electro's horse's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Inch shorter than Smitty was. Height does not bother me if he has the tenacity that Smitty had. -
The defensive side seems to be good. I wonder how much Luke had input on these new defensive additions. They seem to be players that he would have liked to play with. I like that he has address many of our holes and the draft gives him the opportunity to grab BPA in the draft.

Pretty simple. If he plays well we have him under contract. If not, we cut loose and don't lose much. -
Watson may be placed on paid leave.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Newbie's topic in Carolina Panthers
The defendant has the right to this information. It's simple. This is nothing but a ploy by the lawyers to get public opinion against him before a trial is conducted. I'm not saying he didn't do it but I find is quite suspicious that all this came out after he said he wouldn't play for the Texans again. He may have had some sort of sex with them but I find it hard to believe it wasn't consensual. This is what is wrong with allegations like this. Quantity overwrites facts. They get a bunch of women to say the same thing and there is no physical evidence therefore the charges are valid because so many say the same thing. It's the same way they nailed Bill Cosby. Than all these women sue and get a boatload of money and ruin a man. -

DaveThePanther2008 replied to Newbie's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just recently read where the lawyers will not release the names of the plaintiffs to Watson's lawyer. They are building up a frenzy in the public eye before the defense has an opportunity to investigate all these claims. I find it odd that 2 weeks ago not one woman stepped up and said something. Now there are over 20. They all woke up one morning from a dream and decided to tell their story. The original plaintiff tried to extort money from Watson for her eternal silence. Also, I read where Watson had them sign a non-disclosure statement sometimes before and after their encounter. This will be interesting if that is true. I think there is a medium here. It's less than what really happened but more than what Watson is saying. I do believe the Texans help round up these women probably with the hint of receiving some financial benefit.
