  1. I was on the Wilks bandwagon even after the ass-whooping we took in Cincinnati. But after Sunday's game I came to realize that the big games are too big for Wilks. I waited and waited for the Panthers to make adjustments to what the Steelers were doing against us both offensively and defensively. It never happened. This IMO is an indication he has no clue what to do when you are getting handled. Good teams will figure your tendencies out and if you don't adjust you're done. IMO he won't figure out what to do. We'll beat inferior teams but the real good teams will handle us and like you said, we're stuck with 7 or 8 wins. I don't know if Steichen will be great or not as a head coach. But he has his offense 12-1 in a very tough division. He's taken a QB that, IMO was a bubble QB and has him in the MVP conversation. I'd take my chances with this. If he can take a player and work his strengths and get them as the top offense in the league he's got my vote.
  2. A bit harsh don't you think? One, we've only played them 6 times since the 4-division format in 02. Yes, we are 0-6 in those games Two, A win is a win so technically he's correct. How about Almost never win. Third, that game wasn't just any game. It clinched the NFC West title and playoff berth. Finally, I was at that game, and it is probably the greatest sports event I ever witnessed live. It may have been 26 years ago and if you want to be more exact Thursday will be exactly 26 years ago. That game was a huge game for our young franchise and saying that someone shouldn't care is worse than making an issue that we haven't beaten them since.
  3. While hoping we lose to get a higher draft pick is only for fans. There are consequences for some of the players that aren't your superstars. When teams get to the point that they are eliminated from the playoffs they start to evaluate talent that may not be on the team next year. (Except for Matt Rhule). Players are going to give it their all to win. I think that's the problem with the Tanking Crew. They are wanting it for personal reason when the reality is players play to win, not lose so 1/2 the fan base will be happy. Win or lose I look at our draft position but I, like many others, always hope for a win.
  4. Dom Capers was an excellent DC, not much of a Head Coach but a great DC. The only question is does his defense fit against today's offenses? Many rule changes since he last coached. Also if he were to become a DC we'd have a better chance of him staying as a DC than to move into a head coaching position.
  5. After the debacle on Sunday, I am ready to move on to a totally different regime. My first choice is Shane Steichen. He has excelled with Hurts as QB. A very mobile Cam like QB. Big, Strong and an added weapon in the running game. I would imagine he would improve our current WR group making them from average to an above average group. I would also think that he would probably want Minshew to come along because he knows the offense which would be a plus while we get our new QB up to speed. So let's say Tepper gets him as our Head Coach. What is your first free agent move? Who is your first pick? Do you go TE and run with who we have on the roster, or do you reach for a Hurts like QB like Richardson at 8 (supposing that we remain at 8)? Who does he bring in as a Defensive Coordinator?
  6. I do agree we need a good OC but our weapons are not that good outside of Moore. RB I would say is above average but WR and TE are well below average. Then again, if we have a good OC he could turn these assets into much better groups.
  7. It seems to be a never ending story. Seems no matter who we hire as an OC. They can't adjust. We haven't had an OC that can adjust to a game since Dan Henning.
  8. We need a complete TE. One that isn't scared to knock the hell out of someone. Our running game depends on a good TE and we don't have one.
  9. Don't forget the two 3rd round picks for Jeff Lewis. lol
  10. Sounds like you are in the wrong line of work.
  11. Currently at #8 Stroud is probably 99.5% out of the equation.
  12. Yeah, I am sure Tepper has a few spurs in his ass over this lose. The one time where we could have beat them and we got manhandled offensively and defensively. I think at this point a deep run in the playoffs is his only hope and with a 5-9 record that seems highly unlikely.
  13. I swear it was the same fk'ing play every single time. Henderson got burned over and over again on the same out route. Our defensive game plan fit perfectly for what they did. They got the ball out of Trubisky's hands quickly and we just kept doing the same thing. Very disappointed since our HC is supposed to be a defensive minded coach. What gets me is we did nothing to change our approach.
  14. Other than Moore none of these guys can get open. Pittsburgh went man to man. Any receiver worth his salt should be able to beat one on one. I give you Marshall is young and improving but we need a lights out WR. I watched part of the Miami game on Saturday. Did you see Waddle's TD. Once he caught the ball it was game over. He went into overdrive and left all the DBs in the dust. It had me laughing because he made the CBs look like linemen and just walked away from them. We need someone like that. I love DJ Moore. But IMO, he's a #2 WR. If you get him a WR like Q. Johnson he becomes a terror to defenses. Without a guy like him. DJ gets his numbers but not nearly what it could be. OC more than QB. I love the ground and pound football, when it works, but we must have an offensive mind that can counter a defense that we played today. If you take away our running game and try to one on one us, you'll pay dearly.
  15. This team is in dire need of some offensive weapons. Our TE's can't block, and they can't get open and if they do, they don't catch the ball. We have one receiver we can count on to catch the ball consistently. Pittsburgh played man to man most of the game and we have NO one other than Moore step up. Marshall is sporadic, Smith is hit or miss, Shenault a RB playing WR, he can barely catch a cold. I understand that we need a QB but, if we don't get the one we want we need to address our need for offensive weapons. The last thing we need to do is reach for a QB when there is a stud TE or WR sitting there at our pick.
  16. It was mentioned last week that this game against Tepper's old team would go a long way in deciding Wilks's fate. I can't believe they allowed Pittsburgh to absolutely out muscle them. Pittsburgh was playing with a nasty attitude, and you could tell we never matched it. The entire game plan was abysmal and we didn't make one adjustment. We were totally outplayed, outcoached and outclassed by a bad Pittsburgh team.
  17. Steve Wilks battle cry carries the the Team Panther's PROTECT THE BANK WIN 31-10
  18. If Moore can't go or is limited it could be a blessing in disguise. Our other WR are going to have to step up and make some plays. They won't just key on Moore. Pittsburgh's defense in no where near as good as they usually are. Their offensive line is in shambles. I watched a Youtube video from a Steelers standpoint and they didn't have much faith in this game. They basically said their LT was a turnstile similar to M. Kalil. What I do find that might be interesting is that they may stack the box but we are also bringing in more OLinemen in to open holes. If we get into the second level we could have a few big runs.
  19. Then why have divisions? It doesn't happen too often, but a division leader comes out with a losing record. No big deal. You can be assured the NFL will NEVER do something so stupid.
  20. Wilks has first hand knowledge of Corral. He's never said one thing one way or the other. As we drop further down the draft board the likelihood of getting a QB that is going to be considered a franchise changer gets slimmer. As we drop, hopefully, we focus on getting a starter in round one. Whatever position we need. Fitterer IMO is going to lay out Corral's skills and why we drafted him. The new coach would listen and make that a part of our path in the draft. No team is going into the draft with only one position as their target in round one or any other round. As the draft unfolds the new coach and GM are going to make a decision. Whether a QB or any other position. Wilks got screwed in Arizona and if he truly believes a QB in this draft is what he wants and is our best option than we'll go for it. I can see where that would be a point we would pick his QB. But saying that's he is ONLY focusing on a QB because he got screwed in Arizona doesn't make sense. I'll say this, if we do draft a QB in round 1, I'll be onboard with it. I will silently hope that Corral gives him a run for his money. I think we (you and I) agree that Rhule really screwed us on his handling of Corral. Not giving him real Reps put us in this conversation.
  21. As we win, we are dropping further and further down the list of potentially a starting QB. If we drop out of the top 10 we are drafting a QB that has many issues and will probably overreach on a QB.
  22. First you assume we are getting a new head coach. Secondly, you assume that your head coach, new or Wilks, don't like Corral. You over valued the IR'd situation. Based on this logic SF will be moving on from Lance because he got IR'd and didn't look good in his starts. You're new coach may value a great TE or wants another edge rusher to improve an already good defense. You assume that the new HC won't bring a QB with him. You're all assumption. I don't know what a new coach, if we go that route, will want in the upcoming draft. It could be a QB or it may be something else. They may think that Corral has some qualities they can work with. You nor I know for sure. You just assume that the new coach is automatically only going to focused on QB.
  23. I love that everyone assumes that the new HC, if we don't keep Wilks, is automatically going to think that any of these QBs in this draft are leaps and bounds better than Corral. They may be or they may not. Every one of them have their question marks. I do agree the room will look different but it may be Corral and a free agent and either Darnold or a rookie. Not normally. We actually got a good deal on that because normally when you trade for a pick with a next year pick you have to give up a higher round. Hate to tell you this but the new head coach will be working with the GM that selected him so it isn't irrelevant.
