  1. So I just read where if UNC wins tonight they will play Duke in the National Semi-final. Believe it or not this will be the first time Duke/UNC will play against each other in the NCAA tournament. The last time they were close was 1991 when UNC and Duke made it to the Final Four but UNC lost to Kansas. Kansas lost to Duke for Duke's first National Title. What a game this will be. Both teams won on the others home court and this will be as neutral as it gets. Carolina has won the National Title twice in N.O. (82,93)
  2. I heard Star was released by Buffalo. Wonder if he'd be stop gap for a year?
  3. I just read where they really like him and don't think he'll be available at 32 when they pick again with the Rams pick they got last year.
  4. He looks great but he has to be better prepared for the season and each game. I'm sure many of you who were athletes know how a hamstring injury feels and occurs. It's one of the worst feelings you can have. When I blew mine out I had a bruise from my @ss to well below my knee. Not only couldn't I walk but it was very painful just to sit down. Sudden bursts and movement is a major reason. We all know those bursts and sudden movements are what makes him so good. He has to do more stretching and preparation for each game. Hopefully the injury bug as moved on and he'll play most of the season.
  5. Agreed no significant impact but most showed promise and another year of development and we're better off. I'm not against taking a LT at 6 but are you ready to ride with Darnold again? Because at the current rate we are heading into exactly that. Which may or may not be a bad thing. I would like to see any of our QBs play behind this new line. On paper it is a huge upgrade.
  6. First of all, I don't think we screwed up last season draft. We may not have drafted who you wanted or who we let slip by but we got quite a lot of talent last season. Had Rhule not been so bullheaded we might have seen more of them. Outside of Smith and our LSer most of these players played. I think we'll see some growth out of them this season. I'm a proponent of trading back. I see the opportunity to get a QB and more O-line help. If Hutchinson or the NCSU LT (sorry to lazy to look his name up and the spelling) were available at 6, I would take them. Otherwise, I would consider trading back especially if we get a good package for #6 and don't trade too far down. 15 would probably be my limit.
  7. Well this does make sense. Corral will be passed over by a couple of teams because of his injury. We struck gold once when teams passed over a player for an injury (or perceived) in STAR. I really think if we are going to come away with anything, outside a 1st round pick, in this draft. I think we need to trade back. Many on here want a LT and a QB. If we are going to address this in the draft than we have to trade back. We can't have both without it. That said Fitterer has addressed the line quite well this offseason and I think we are going to see a much better unit by the time the season start. BC did well in his last couple of games and the front office might be thinking. Let's trade down get our QB in mid first and our LT with the 2nd round we pick up in a trade. However if these LT are gone we are confident that Brady will be able to handle the LT spot. Fitterer also mentioned in his press conference that we did so well in the FA market that we have positioned ourselves for BPA.
  8. I've heard that Arizona and Kyler aren't necessarily are on great terms. I would love for us to have Kyler with CMC.
  9. Teams were teeing off on our offensive line. Once we were in obvious passing downs we didn't stand a chance with that line. Cam still had the pocket awareness and tried to make thing happen but when those defenders are right on top of you there wasn't much he could do. You make it sound as if the problem was Cam. IT CLEARLY WASN'T HIM. We all know this. Comparing him to any opposing QB is ludicrous.
  10. Nice rant and you make some great points. The only way I would be happy with a QB is if we trade down. We desperately need more draft capital.
  11. This got me thinking. Has that ever happened before? I can't recall EVER a team having back to back #1 picks.
  12. I assume these are the rest after Mahomes? If so, he nailed the top 3. probably Mayfield, Darnold, Rudolph and Rosen in that order after. I wonder what his take is on who's the best in this class. I hope Rhule listens to him.
  13. I think he lost the locker room last year. If he loses it again. He's done. That said if he shows he's learned from his mistakes and the team fights and plays well. I don't have a problem with. My biggest concern is the loyalty to Baylor and Temple players and coaches. Some of these guys wouldn't be in the NFL if it weren't for Rhule.
  14. Excelling at a HBCU school does not mean you are the best at your craft. You're going up against players that aren't the same caliber as players in the SEC (his previous conference) The NFL is made up of the best of the best. (even though some look terrible to us) As a scouting department you have to pick and choose were you want to be. One player at a pro-day that may not be in the window he's going to be selected. When you have a pro day with 3 or 4 guys giving a workout. You go with the 3 or 4 guy Pro Day. I know that Deion recruited him to come out of Florida but maybe that was because he wasn't having as much success. His tape looks good but we saw what happened to David Moore. He looked amazing on tape but when he got among talented players he just didn't pan out. I don't know about James Houston IV and have no idea whether he'll be a star or JAG or a flameout in camp. I believe the Panthers decided it wasn't worth their time for a mid-round player. Plus as @MHS831 said. If we're interested we can have him in for a private workout.
  15. Howell will be gone before the end of the 2nd round. Wouldn't be surprised if he is a late 1st.
  16. Sure, sure we'll give you a first for your backup QB. The one that was your starter but you don't believe in him anymore and traded a kings ransom for a troublesome QB. A QB that may or may not play out his entire contract due to legal issues. Sure, no problem. We'll give you a backup and throw in a receiver for him plus a pick. Didn't think so.
  17. He's extremely controversial and when he opens his mouth people still listen, even in disbelief. Sometimes guys like this make people tune in even if he is wrong. I think bringing Todd McShay to counter him makes keeping him on the staff that much more interesting. He smart and knows a lot about these players and makes some good points. His Mocks are terrible an usually he only gets the first pick right. I wish I had his gig. Work 30 years and be wrong most of the time and still get PAID.
  18. Could also be a smoke screen to get someone like Carolina to take Willis instead of Pickett. These GMs are all sneaky folks. That said, I am sure they are interested to see how well he performs but showing up doesn't mean they are after him 100%
  19. True, I am not saying that he won't be productive or even a franchise QB. You just have more homework to do to make him your future QB. I didn't watch the whole clip but some of those throws were perfectly placed and a few on the run. Hoever, the point @The Huddler makes about missing 1st reads can't be underestimated. If he's a one read and run QB we might as well sign Kaepernick.
  20. The talent level he played against worries me some but I also saw some throws that he made that he would have to make in the NFL. It will be interesting to hear what Fitterer has to say about Willis after the Pro Day.
  21. So you're telling me your not applying for Mel Kiper's job. LOL Than again you probably could do better than Mel Kiper. I just have this gut feeling whoever takes Howell is going to have a good QB. Last year at Carolina he had zero help (as compared to 2020). It's hard to replace 4 NFL caliber players (2 WR and 2 RB) in one season. After 2020 many had him as the top prospect going into 2021. I'll be interested to see how much his stock rises, if at all, at his Pro Day on 28 March. I got this off the Carolina page. Howell working out for his Pro Day. 22. I think bring back Cam as a backup to whoever starts for us is a good idea. I'd just like to see him from the start of Mini-camps through Training Camp with a competent offense line. Which I think we have now.
  23. Kind of reminds me about all the "not athletic enough" conversations we had last year about Mac Jones last year. I'm still a Howell fan and think he is being highly underrated but I guess we'll see come the start of the season.
