I have been high on our defense for quite a while. I love the fact that our defense is made of athletic and fast players and Snow knows how to get the most out of them. I think Snow will have a game plan for every offense we face and bring pressure all game long. My concerns are how we will fair when we face mobile accurate QBs. Will some OC figure out a way to counter our defense and expose how to beat us. I think not but it's possible.

"You need to pay attention to the Panthers"
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
They might not be so excited to play us. Our defense is in pure ass whooping mode and I say. BRING IT ON!!!!! -
And accuracy. The ball was place where only DJ would catch it.

Hubbard was his checkdown and I really think he thought he had time to get it to him. It was a terrible decision but mistakes happen. He has played well for us and I am highly pleased with his play so far.

The Athletic not very impressed with Sam Darnold
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I said this in another thread but it's worth repeating. Darnold may be the most accurate passer the Panthers have ever had. He had multiple pin point passes yesterday. I was very impressed. His second TD to Moore was a bullet that hit the bullseye. He stood tall many times in a collapsing pocket and delivered a good pass. He wasn't perfect but rarely QBs are. -
Morgan Fox's Next Gen stat of the game

He should have been credited with a sack on that intentional grounding play as well. -
New Base Defense -- Odd Fronts**
DaveThePanther2008 replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
The past two years we have stressed athletism and versatility across the board. We now have players all over the field that can put their hand in the dirt or stand up. You can game plan but it doesn't mean you'll figure this defense out. Snow is like the conductor of an orchestra. Shame Luke wasn't here to experience Snow. Could you imagine him running this defense. -
It would be a waste of a roster spot but it doesn't mean we can't bring someone else in and kick for the next two games.

Fame -1 - Defense, Defense - Defense. This defense will keep us in many games. Fame -2 Darnold minus the fumble/int. He was pinpoint yesterday. Several of his throws were right on the money, perfect stride or the one and only place the ball could be caught without being defended or intercepted. Fame-3 Our corners Jackson and Horn. Very few passes were thrown their way and it is most likely they had their man blanketed. Surely has to be one of the reasons we have 10 sacks already. Plus Jackson has made some terrific tackles in the open field. Shame -1 - Special Teams and this is a reoccurring problem. As much as I liked Chase Blackburn as a football player. I think he is our weakest coach. If you go back to all his time with us, we have had some of our worst performances in special teams. Namely the Indy game a couple of seasons ago. To yesterday, the Blocked FG was a blemish on our great day. Our kicker can't kick it out of the endzone. The returns put them in good field position. Thank god our defense was dominating the Saints. Shame-2 Brady's 2nd half performance. This is two weeks in a row that we have come out flat in the 2nd half. If it weren't for the shank punt by New Orleans and Horn's interception we might not have scored again in the 2nd half. We have to play 60 minutes and I do not like Brady's 2nd half performance. He doesn't seem to be able to diagnose what changes are made at halftime. Shame-3 Run game. CMC makes you defend the run throughout the game but if we don't start pounding the ball we are going to be introuble. If a team stops our run and makes us one dimensionally we will look like New Orleans did yesterday.

Totally agree. Peyton sat out a year but I don't believe for one second he regretted it. Though he may not have a bounty on someone's head he clearly doesn't discourage trying to take someone out.

Rhule has a ton of input. I don't think there is a decision made on players that isn't discussed but Fitterer didn't come here to be 2nd fiddle to Rhule. Fit is the GM Rhule is the Coach

1:21 seconds of this video He clearly launches himself at CMC and IMO was blatant about it.

We're serviceable right now. I don't think Erving is our worst problem on the O-line. Darnold sacks came from the interior line having issues. We have built a very young and talented team through the draft. You want to give up all that draft capital for one player? You're basically giving away 4 starters for a fix that might not make a huge difference. Thanks but No Thanks
-
Why wasn't this guy thrown out of the game on the helmet to helmet on CMC. That was as blatant of a head to head hit I've seen all season. It clearly looked like to me that he was intentionally trying to hurt CMC. Knowing the Saint history I would not have been surprised if they were told to take a shot if available. We got the unsportsmanlike conduct but he should have been ejected.

There were a couple of questionable calls but both sides felt the pain. Roughing the passer against us in the first QTR come to mind.

The funniest part is "Put Sam on the Jets without the Carolina line, running game, or receivers and his is struggling." Been there, done that. That's why you traded him. What a idiotic comment.

I am very optimistic about our defense and think they can carry us to some tight wins. My concern is as the season goes along teams find that weakness in our defense. Right now it's hard to see one but there are several coaches, that we play this year, that have been around long enough and might find one. Defense wins Championships as the saying goes. If we can show we are a nasty defense. Who knows how far we can go.
-
You play who is on your schedule. We didn't make it up. I think the schedule is stacking up well in our favor. By the time we hit the strength of our schedule our team will be clicking. We have a chance to beat some of those teams on the back end. NO team is a pushover and if we come in with the attitude we've already won is when we get beat. Defense is special and will help us win a couple games.

Panthers are #1 Defense in the NFL

We'll get some love this week for sure. -
It's good to see the pain. Turned the tables on them.

Horn should have had 2 interception but other than that his name has been silent. I mean this in a good way. They just don't throw his way too often. Talking about a stat-less ROY. He just shuts receivers down. I'm joking about ROY but am serious he would never been considered because he's stat-less. -
I posted this the other night and pretty much nailed it. 1. The Saints are on an 16-0 run against the NFCS and surely want to make it 17-0. The Panthers have to come out on fire. If we force a 3 and out on their first series, it's game on for us. If they walk down the field and score a TD we might be in trouble. We have to come out with an attitude that we aren't the Panthers of old. CHECK (actually it was 10 in a row not 16) 2. Stop the run. We have to make this a one dimensional game. Plain and simple. Stop the run and we'll force Winston into mistakes. If we don't stop the run it's inevitable that we give up a couple of big plays downfield. CHECK 3. This will be a true test for our young DBs. If they can make some plays, which I believe they will, we'll win. Jackson and Horn are legit cover corners and will make it tough for Winston. Our nickel will have to be on point or they kill us underneath. CHECK 4. Our defensive line is going against a pretty solid O-line but IMO we have an underrated defensive line. We are solid interior and out the edge. We have to get pressure on Winston. I think we'll get 2 or 3 sacks and plenty of pressures. We have to stop the run. It's the key to winning this game. CHECK 5. Offensively we can't start out slow. We can't go two quarter (nearly 3) without points like we did last week. Darnold showed some grit last week when the Jets got it to a one score game and drove us down for a FG to put us back up by 2 scores. Turned out to be the game winning drive. CHECK MINUS THE 3RD QTR. 6. Snow and Brady need to be ready to adjust to what the Saints do after half time. Last week both offensively and defensively we played like a different team in the 2nd half. Neither Snow or Brady had an answer for the adjustments the Jets made. The sign of a good OC and DC is the ability to adjust on the fly after half time. MISSED THIS ONE OFFENSIVELY. If we are going to be special Brady has to have a better understanding of what teams are doing after half time. The 3rd quarter we put up 51 yds of offense after posting over 225 in the first half. It wasn't until the 4th quarter before we go things rolling again and only after a turnover. It's seems like a lot of things that have to go in our favor to win. I believe as long as we don't shoot ourselves in the foot with dropped passes and stupid penalties we will win this game. CHECK
