Seems like a great year to trade down and maybe grab a guy like this in the 2nd round if he’s still there

I really wonder if Matt Rhule even really wanted to be head coach of the Panthers in the first place. Everyone should know it’s basic job interview 101 to not be to eager or act too desperate to take a job. I mean if you gotta offer a guy a top 10 coaching salary before he’s coached a single NFL game, maybe that’s not a good fit? Tepper guaranteed Rhule so much money that he would be eating tens of millions to rip up his contact, after he basically begged Matt to uproot his family from a comfortable gig in Waco and move to Charlotte. He hand picked Rhule to come save his shiny new franchise from “mediocrity” and now it’s not working out, but damn, I do wonder if Tepper just feels bad booting the guy he begged to coach his team out of town. No wonder he hasn’t said a word to the fans. It’s legitimately embarrassing and I doubt David has ever been in a situation in his life where he’s made such an expensive, public mistake. I doubt Matt really wanted this job in the first place.

Final Defensive Rankings for the 2021 Carolina Panthers
hepcat replied to trueblade's topic in Carolina Panthers
The run defense sucked either way. Derrick Brown is a bust and they need to sign or draft a true MLB badly. -
I am available to be the OC and I’ll accept far less than Joe Brady made. DM me Matty Rhule I’ll come save you!

Ben McAdoo is as good as this team can do right now. Honestly it doesn’t matter who they hire because this team is gearing up to be one of the worst in the NFL next season with Rhule coming back for a lame duck season. Tepper wants to run back another 5 win season. About all that he’s been good for since he took over as owner.

Jake Delhomme was the perfect QB for that system. He was a great play action QB with a knack for clutch plays. Henning also knew how to “feed the stud” as he put it with prime era Steve Smith.

Technically Mike Shula had the best season as OC tho

is dan henning still alive

Panthers OC candidate is Not a fan of Sam Darnold
hepcat replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I guess there’s a difference in losers on the field and their bank accounts -
What else needs to be said? He knows the fans aren't happy with his decisions. That's why he hasn't said anything. Nothing is going to change.

I think we've all sounded off as much as we can already. No point in saying anything else.

https://charlotte.axios.com/285099/farewell-message-for-panthers-fans-from-social-media-guru-amie-kiehn/ The Panthers have had one of the best social media teams in all of sports over the last few seasons. It was one of the few bright spots on an otherwise MISERABLE team to watch. Now I guess everything is just going to be sad and pointless.

Is anyone a Sam Darnold fan? Guy is a certified loser -
It’s bad in Carolina, but this should make you smile…

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/01/16/mike-shanahan-kyle-shanahan-sean-mcvay-matt-lafleur-nfl-playoffs/ Good read on Mike Shanahan and his impact on the NFL. Three of his assistants from his time in Washington are head coaches on teams in the NFC playoffs. Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, and Matt LaFleur. One quote really resonated with me: I found this quote to be extremely pertinent to Matt Rhule and the current Panthers team. Two seasons in as head coach and he's fired numerous staff members, including an offensive coordinator in-season, and the team has been terrible. Matt Rhule had one season of NFL experience before he was hired, as assistant offensive line coach on the 2012 Giants. As Mike Shanahan said, you need to know all the positions on the field, not only so YOU can coach, but so you can tell if your staff are good coaches. It is clear Matt Rhule has no idea how to build an NFL caliber staff. I don't think he knows enough about all the positions on the field to do what Shanahan said - show what assistants might be a good coach and who might not. How could he? He coached in college for most of his career. And the NFL game is a few steps up from what positions require in college.... So Rhule hired a bunch of his long-time friends and colleagues to fill his staff, along with some other random coaches of varying experience, and the results have been terrible. A head coach on a winning NFL team should be developing coordinators who are ready to become NFL coaches. All the great NFL teams have seen this happen. Hell, even Ron Rivera's top DC Sean McDermott is one of the best head coaches in the NFL. I don't see that happening on Matt Rhule's staff. It seems more like he needs an experienced former NFL head coach on the staff to save him. It's just depressing to think about the future of the Panthers being undermined by an unqualified coach like Matt Rhule. He's an average college head coach at best and has no business being a head coach in the NFL.

Gonna be a fun off-season of dumpster diving FAs and not having draft picks

(On a lighter note...) McCaffery went on vacation to Cabo

He has the right amount of fame and money and looks for her -
The Eagles are going to put up a great game but the Bucs will win at the end The 49ers beat the Cowboys convincingly because they always blow it in the playoffs The Steelers play a closer game than expected with the Chiefs

So far all I see is guys who probably aren’t qualified for the job so it’s par for the course for this coaching staff

I agree. Burns is a huge liability in the run game. He’s going to be an extremely explosive situational pass rusher on a different team. Burns is going to have a long career in the NFL if he’s managed correctly. The Panthers don’t have the personnel to support him.
