  1. looks like we're gonna have Ojulari and/or Sanders to choose from...I'm very happy with either.
  2. Porter will probably be the first pick tonight. We'll know in an hour and 15 minutes.
  3. sorry if posted...in this rd 2 mock, we get Olujari....but the Saints get freakin Mayer https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10074211-2023-nfl-mock-draft-day-2-predictions-from-bleacher-report
  4. There's 4 players I love on that list, 3 that I like. And we pick 8th. Hope one that I love makes it to us.
  5. I'm watching NFL network...amazing how at each pick so far they never bring up Levis. Maybe the Commanders wil take him at 16
  6. I'm thinking Flowers. I just read somewhere this week we feel good at the other wr positions this year, but the slot could an area we upgrade. I think that's Flowers but my brain is on info overload.
  7. as much as I understand an edge or cb, even lb, Reich is an offensive minded coach who wants to throw the ball down the field. Another good weapon on that side of the ball is understandable, and he's said he thinks we already have a good defense. and that's fine by me...we don't have a first next year, so he may pull the trigger on getting a WR/TE this year, worry about the D next year.
  8. there's a couple of teams that have 2 picks behind us in the 2nd round. I'd like to see one of them fall in love with a guy at 39 and trade us both 2nd rounders, but that is unlikely...still, if a team absolutely wants a guy...
  9. good stuff BH, so you're not going with the recent talk about an early IOL?
  10. like it a lot, but I'm not wild about Darnell in the second. Love the 3rd round pick. don't know if he played with Ickey at State but he might have, and that relationship could make the transition easier. Also I'm not really ready to spend a pick in this draft on an RB. Too many other needs, but if it's the right guy at the right time of the draft, I'm fine with it.
  11. after the talk here last week on BJ, I did some research and agree that he won't be there at 39, looks like a Burns style player who could go in the 20s and early first if he drops. Earlier this year, LaPorta was being mocked in the laste first, but now the media has moved him down their lists....we'll see what the pros think. I like him a lot. I think our second round pick this year is going to be the highest we'll have for a while...I believe that much in our coaching staff. With that said, if an Edge is available they like at that point, I'd say he would be a priority. Easier to find CBs in latter parts of the second round in the future. I'm not in love with the short receivers, but if Frank wants one, I'll trust him. Interesting that Campbell worked with Luke...I was hoping we'd take an athletic freak like Sanders or Simpson if we go LB in the second. Not against a short trade back for an extra third as well. New coaches will want as many of their picks as soon as possible. I'd think we could still get great value if we fall back 5 to 8 positions.
  12. Final tally Over the last 15 years, there have been 45 QBs selected in the first round. Here's the final tally: GRADE TOTAL PERCENT Home run 11 24% Mixed result 6 13% Incomplete 8 18% Miss 20 44% Miss 20 44% Miss 20 44%
  13. possible. Remember we just hired our first offensive minded coach, and he's already stated we have a good defense, and he wants a good offense. He's gonna get a QB at one, and he may be thinking we need to protect him, and he's right. If there are no WRs left, and with two of our IOL recovering from serious injures, he might choose to solidify the line. Worked for the Saints with Brees...you get your QB, you protect him. Saints spent an incredible amount of draft capitol plus big contracts to protect their QB. I'd love a CB or edge, but understand if it's OL. A prior poster suggested that a guard wouldn't play a snap his rookie year. We started Icky last year as a rookie....he was a top 10 pick but he also played a much harder position at LT. We wouldn't even play Gross at LT his rookie season, instead playing him at RT or guard, can't remember. We'll all have to adjust our thinking to an offensive minded coach.
  14. in the OP, the last part about Arizona and the burner phone...Wilks is involved in this story. He and another employee claim they were told to use burner phones during the GM's (or whoever) suspension from team activities. Wilks says he refused. The team says they have a burner phone, so we'll see. Wilks is suing them.
  15. that last play in the clip where he caused the fumble is one of my favorite plays of all time. I'm pretty sure it came in the preseason, because I remember a tweet or post from some reporter with the caption "Luke Kuechley is ready for the regular season."
  16. heading into the draft we'll try to find some guys who can help us this...however, we'll also be keeping an eye on who we may be losing after the 2023 season....Spotrac has a list. We'll work a deal with Burns, and Derrick Brown can be optioned. Some positions we'll need to address. Chark and Shenault are in their last year, so may need to get a young guy onboard, even if it's a later pick. Chinn is in a pivotal year..he's got talent...can we find the right place for him? On the DL, we'll need to replace/re-sign Haynes, Gross-Motos and Henderson from the CB room...for some reason, Spotrac thinks he'll be wroth 14 mill per year...can't imagine he'll get closed to that. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/2024/all/carolina-panthers//
  17. appreciate this thread. I've wanted us to run the 3-4 for years but have no idea what the players would look like, especially DE. Would appreciate another thread on linebackers. Looking forward to learning this year.
  18. we've got some talent, a great coaching staff, probably best we've had.
  19. wow! would open up the draft for us
  20. I've been thinking about this since we restructured Thomas. I wanted us to sign one and draft one, and cut Thomas. I know we can afford to cut him, maybe it was a precautionary move. Tremble is a good blocker we took at 83 in 2021. I'd hate to give up on a pick that high so soon. But our new staff may see him as cuttable. After signing Hurst I still want to draft one. If either Thomas or Tremble get cut, I'm ok with spending our second on a potentially elite pass catching TE if the top tier WRs are gone. It give the rookie at least a year to learn behind a vet. We know Frank wants to throw the ball, and wants an offense that can move the ball downfield by throwing it. Tremble may or may not fit that offense.
  21. I've been thinking the same, noted over the last couple of days carving out some small space I didn't think we'd really need unless we want a strong vet WR to pair with Terrace. May spend second pick on another position (CB), and draft some depth later.
