  1. Ekwonu's nickname was apparently given to him because some coach thought he favored Ickey Woods. LOL
  2. I get the reasoning, and I think that it's sound. The only thing is that I'm thinking Sewell was our "top of the board player" last season. Horn was perhaps a strong consolation. The question is who is the "strong consolation"--or A strong consolation--this year because I believe they may be gone. No one's gonna "surprise" us this year and take our top pick right before us...he (and maybe even the strong consolation) will be gone!
  3. I could see a player, but I don't see them trading next year's first. The ONLY way I see that is if they feel strongly that one of these QBs is a legit franchise QB. I think Fitterer understands and appreciates the value of first round picks too much to trade them willy-nilly or the ability that said pick gives him the ability to maneuver and finesse (if you understand what I'm saying). Now next year's 2nd or beyond... hopefully they've learned something from this year... Cross is all over first round mocks. Top 10 value is not necessarily a thing with Cross on boards I've seen. Ikwonu is definitely rated higher. I couldn't see passing on him because of his motor and "nastiness", particularly in the run game. But, I admittedly don't know lineman like that, and I certainly believe that O-lineman are a bigger gamble than other positions. Like, Ickey or Cross has a higher bust potential than Sauce or London for example...
  4. He's too old and experienced to be publicly expressing such thoughts. What a knucklehead!
  5. Only a few of the rich get richer. It's not a good deal for the average person.
  6. What the hell are you talking about--suggesting? If you don't know the proper language of football, then perhaps you should take a gander at hundreds of articles and draft profiles on record since the evolution of the modern NFL. Here are some regarding Sam Darnold! "poor decision-making" https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/35698/benching-sam-darnold-might-be-best-step-in-fixing-carolina-panthers-offense%3fplatform=amp "...but his lower half mechanics and decision making could prevent him from becoming a top tier NFL QB..." https://turnonthejets.com/2018/06/sitting-sam-darnold-in-year-one-lower-half-mechanics-decision-making/ "Darnold attributed his first interception to 'poor decision-making.'" https://www.panthers.com/news/sam-darnold-i-m-fully-aware-i-didn-t-play-my-best-football "Making wiser decisions when he’s on the move might be a good start." https://www.google.com/amp/s/nesn.com/2021/11/stat-suggests-panthers-sam-darnold-shouldnt-throw-on-run-anymore/amp/ After harping on the decision-making, Rhule said he'll wait until he reviews the film before making any big statements on Darnold's future. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nfl.com/_amp/sam-darnold-on-3-to-day-in-panthers-loss-i-m-fully-aware-i-didn-t-play-my-best-f "Thus far, his decision-making has been questionable." https://withthefirstpick.com/2018/02/10/2018-nfl-draft-sam-darnold-strengths-weaknesses/3/ There are many more examples...Damn, SizzleMuzz. Just because someone does not have the mental processing speed or even acuity to make good decisions under pressure doesn't necessarily speak to a person's raw intellectual ability. Good grief, man!
  7. Many of the criticisms of Darnold's college tape are the same criticisms that people have today. He essentially hasn't learned a thing. His ball security and decision making are just atrocious.
  8. Why would you spout such meritless drivel. Why? Barner apparently is investing his money wisely and has a net worth somewhere between 1-5 mil, though most sites say 3. Apparently he's involved in apparel (including selling Yeezy's), kennels and investing in commercial real estate (if I am to believe his IG profile. In any event, he's a levelheaded family man that also hails from a good family. He gave his Patriots ring to his dad as a Father's Day gift. Do your research before making assumptions!
  9. I said to myself, "Well I'll be damned," before I scrolled down and saw your response. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good (not to say that he hasn't been a good role player, backup and bench warmer).
  10. Tepper has had a really atrocious start himself, and doesn't have any type of success to show for it. But, point taken (read below). I mean, fans are going to have issues sometimes. When you say "early on", are you talking year three like we have here? I'm speaking solely football of course (but, yeah, they haven't improved the Sabers yet, but it's a more difficult task). Tepper is going into his 4th season (and it's technically his 5th). I know that at least on the Bills side of things, they are doing a lot better than us. I guess for Bills-Sabers fans it's a little more complex and difficult to separate what the Pegulas have done on the football side from the hockey side. Where I will fully admit my ignorance is the fact that they are making noises about to Austin, but many people believe that's just a ploy to strongarm Buffalo and taxpayers for new facilities. Tepper hasn't said anything like that this far, but his recent actions, including his silence, has me very uncomfortable.
  11. I agree. That's why I mentioned "offensive coordination". I don't rightly know who to blame more, but I believe it's poor QB play. In any event, I'd like to see Robby used more effectively, not press this year and catch the damned ball. D.J. needs to make plays at key times, particularly in the end zone. There shouldn't be any more meat left on the bone due to drops in key moments.
  12. Pegula Consolation: Not current or past Tepper.
  13. Yardage has never been a problem with Moore. Take the guys that you put him in the company of and compare scores. That's where the issue is. Sure he's had sketchy QB play, but he's put up yardage as I would expect for the leading receiver on a team. Now, he must translate that to scores before I'm putting him in such company. Maybe I'm old school, but that's just the way I see it.
  14. I'd say that Fittererer did pretty well with his extension of D.J. Moore and, yes, Robby Anderson (yeah, I said it). And, the thing is, I'd argue that they got the numbers right considering each receiver's entire body of work thus far. Yes, Robby had a down year, and Moore has not shown to be a prolific scorer, but I believe there's a decent chance that both will improve upon their perceived weaknesses in a way that their value will be easily seen the next couple of seasons, provided that we can get NFL level offensive coordination (which I believe is a decent possibility) and at least average QB play (which is a bigger question). Either way, I don't think that we'll be able to blame D.J. or Robby and what they make as a detriment to offensive woes in 2022. Add in the other guys, and our receiving corps should be a good ROI for a couple of years.
  15. So you say. Neither Fields nor Jones actually lit the world on fire (and, yeah, it was their rookie season, but, still, they could have genuinely flashed more). Each draft helps constitute a franchise, but a draft still must be scrutinized unto itself. Every year brings a different situation.
  16. If you have to rip your shirt open, you already know the answer.
  17. Why ANYONE would put it past him, I don't know. But I hope that he never does it because fans would abandon his team in droves. All the CAROLINA Panthers sh¡t that I've bought over the years... He wasn't my first or second choice. No loyalty to the region, it seems. He bought the Panthers, but he may not have bought in to Carolina. We will know when and if he does, but he isn't there as of this moment.
  18. Nah. I'll give them a 3rd. A 2nd is simply too high because it likely has long term implications of opportunity costs, and Mayfield is not worth that. Otherwise just grin and bear Darnold for a year and keep our day one and two picks for 2023 sacred.
  19. Sounds like some variation of Sam Darnold to me.
  20. College is an entirely different animal. More than a few QBs carry their teams in college. That doesn't mean they're going to carry their teams in the pros. Remember that the smart scouts are zeroing in on traits.
  21. Translation: there's nothing special about Pickett that should warrant a sixth pick. He's not a QB whose shoulders the team can stand upon when the going gets tough. When he meets another playoff-caliber team with a superior QB, that's the end of the line.
  22. "Smokescreen" may not have been the exact right word, although I kinda believe that they'd prefer to trade down and get either Corral or Pickett, and any "buzz" that they're generating about Willis may be to that end.
