Darnold is never going to be an all pro, but he's doing OK for now and McCarthy is learning in the way a QB should his rookie year, from the bench. Meanwhile we traded for a QB whose only skill so far seems to be tricking a pretend GM out of 30m dollars.

Isn't that what good coaches are supposed to do? Scheme to strengths and hide weaknesses. Here in Carolina we do it different.

I'm not sure what film you were watching but he had the worst mechanics of any of the top 4 QBs. The arm strength and happy feet have always been a problem.

It's also how you miss out on a franchise LT in Rashawn Slater. I'll never forget Rhule saying he would have to be a guard because his arms were to short after he had just been named an all pro LT in his rookie season. I freely admit Stroud wasn't my first choice, it was AR, but only with the right coach (Harbaugh IMO) which wasn't Frank. That left Stroud as my choice by default. Bryce's actions at the combine took him off my board immediately.
