Hope so. I think the missing piece to their write up is nic scourton having a year under his belt. I think he is primed for a bit of a jump in production.

The "now it's been three years" Grade for the 2023 Draft

I mean I can’t really argue with you. I’m an eternal optimist. So I gave it an F. -
The "now it's been three years" Grade for the 2023 Draft
Steves89 replied to Steves89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Maybe “gave up” is the wrong term. But he cost us two firsts (and then some) because that is what we spent to get him. In the same way I would say we spent a 1st on Freeling. We didn’t trade anything to get him but we we didn’t get him for free. We still spent a pick. -
Didn't see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes. 1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get. GRADE: C - 2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F 3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it. Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+ 5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF. GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F

He s only 31?!? Dang I feel like he was 28 for half my adulthood. Also, why didn’t we kick the tires on him to backup Bryce?

Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!

BOLD TAKE: Panthers will draft Jacob Rodriguez @19
Steves89 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can’t decide if this is great insightful content or if this is just a kid about to leave college trying to expand his professional network. -
Outstanding write up. As always. Thanks @MHS831!

I agree it is very exciting! Tough to imagine them being more impactful than Jake Delhomme, Stephen Davis, and Ricky Proehl but I hope they are!! -
thank you OP. You are doing the Lord's Work right here. Outstanding write up.

Official Carolina Huddle Super Bowl LX Thread

The most interesting part of this game remains when Collinsworth said “These quarterbacks need to open things up with their legs.” maybe I’ll go back to watching the Olympics. -
Bryce is not averaging less yards than 2024. He is averaging more. In 2025, he is averaging 194.8 yards per game. In 2024, it was was 171.6. That looks like more to me but maybe I’m missing something. The point is that they both are pretty bad and whether the improvement gives us any hope that he will one day not be pretty bad
-
Idk… skipping out on fumbles and completion percentage doesn’t look great. I think the better argument in favor of Bryce is that he has improved in yards, yards per attempt, completion percentage, and touchdowns each year, year over year. That’s pretty promising…except where he started was so dismal. And every third game he flashes that year 1 quality. Honestly I think we’ll keep him.

VICTORY!!!!! A huge win. This team is frustrating as hell but honestly that’s what makes them feel like vintage panthers.

What's the best Thanksgiving side dish?
Steves89 replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Side? Stuffing and gravy. pie? Definitely home made but not in good way. What this pie lacks in quality ingredients has not been made up for with expert execution. Some of the ingredients are lacking and not well mixed. The bake is fine - not raw, not over baked - and the parts are there but it is a ways away from being a good pie. At the end of the day, it’s not very good, but it is still pie, and even pie that’s not very good, that you can still gather around with friends and family is still pie worth eating and something to be thankful for -
Definitely got the assist from some falcons with terrible tackling. Got to hand it to Tremble though. He showed good balance and that stiff arm at the end was excellent. Always liked him. Glad he got a chance to make a big play as a receiving threat.

Also, though I think they played a crap game, gunna hand it to the defense for getting a three and out to start OT. They did not play well but got a nice stop when the chips were down. Wish they did it a drive earlier, but they did it.
