Na that is a cop out. If the GM is just a yes man to the head coach then they both have to go. If that is how it was designed then we are truly fuged.

D+ No matter what his other moves do having no viable back up QB is an inexcusable offense…

Simple, we essentially put him on ignore symbolically or literally cause he’s not an objective actor. No reason to hate someone defending a family member.

Cam had talent, showed he had talent, but then he lost it and we move on. But the bottom line is Cam had talent and showed it. Darnold is who he is. No different than the millions of mediocre players that have come and will come. Despite all this Darnold is set to make a cool 18m next year. He doesn’t need anyones sympathy.

Cam came into a dumpster fire with a worse team and record yet the talent was undeniable. As terrible as Darnold’s situation he is still who he is. Players come and go he doesn’t need your sympathy….

The only thing I want for Christmas is for the Huddle to stop capping for mediocre QBs….

That’s the NFL for you. The QB will always get the most poo whether he deserves it or not.

For all the talk Gman made about hog mollies he hardly applied it to the OL.

Jesus Christ! The man will get 18 million dollars next year and he is not even 30 years old. Sam Darnold doesn’t need nor deserve pity….

We have had this debate so many times I’m not sure what else to say…

If a premier tackle is where we are then you have to take him. We’ve nickel and dimmed that position for too long. If not and the board falls the wrong way then yes trade down…

Good thing we didn’t get an established back up in the off-season….

Whoever decided we should not just go into the season with Darnold as QB but have NO viable options to replace him with if poo went sour needs to be given a pink slip.

/thread More seriously there were a lot of signs it would not work but as fans you can't blame many of us for wishful thinking. Outside of Sam's failings in NY the signs were there that it would not go well here. First signs were the draft. We go in to the draft knowing we have glaring issues on the line. However, instead of using the most of our draft capital to draft a OL we instead go for a CB which is a position much easier to fill in later rounds than tackle. We knew Darnold had a sucky time at the Jets because he was pressured a lot and it caused him to see ghosts but instead of putting him in a better position we placed Sam at the same spot he was at NY but with a better defense. Him not playing in the preseason was already as the second one and the third sign was CMCs health. I bet our geniuses thought CMC could carry the load and take the pressure but we overestimated how much load CMC can carry.
