Mike Sando ranks the head coaching opportunities
Wolfcop replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly. He gave Rhule too much breathing room. He has to find the right balance, but most importantly the right coach. -
He was supposed to be able to overcome that, along with WRs who couldn’t get open, and a scheme that sucked.
-
Don’t really see the “brighter future” part.
-
Likely more of an assumption based on his track record.

If You Could Choose ANY Head Coach... Who?
Wolfcop replied to Jay Roosevelt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hard to argue with Shanahan. He has taken the 49ers far with mid level QBs -
Agree with this. The Ravens DC is intriguing, but he would have to beat out Evero in my mind if your first 3 turn us down. Also, it’ll blow my mind if we don’t interview Harbaugh.
-
The first interview is virtual, correct?
-
Sorry, but if you are interviewing this year’s Panthers OC, that screams Rooney Rule interview. It sure wasn’t because of production.
-
After that I’m embarrassment, I wouldn’t interview Dan Quinn for water boy.
-
Definitely helping his case
-
You never know how good they are until they start coaching.

Sources - Antonio Pierce leading candidate for Raiders job - ESPN More good news.
-
I sure hope not.
-
Patriots hiring Mayo would be good for us IMO.
-
Sounds like they are more likely to go after BB
-
I would do that before I'd hire some on the current interview list, for sure. Evero is definitely in my top 3-4. Harbaugh Johnson Evero OR MacDonald
-
Bassackwards, like most things he does.
-
Vrabel anyone? Titans let him go.
-
Fresh reboot I would not keep anyone on the personnel side of things.
-
Yeah, earlier in the year it was assumed that they would fire their coach, but they played really well down the stretch and are expected to keep him.
-
Bears don’t have a coaching vacancy.

is there a worse destination than Carolina for a GM or HC?

There are several things the Panthers have going for them: -Weak division -Few bad contracts/cap room -Owner with deep pockets -Talented young pieces on defense -Bryce (despite the naysayers, he will be viewed as a bonus by many). They will realize he can do good things if you protect him/give him weapons. -Its one of only a handful of openings
