Discussion: The Panther Decision involving Baker
EgoDogg replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
It would have to be Glass on the practice squad in this case. Rhule would never give up former Temple QB, Mr. Unbeatable's spot (P.J. Walker) -

I agree with everything you said. Shutting out all the speculation for a minute, it's the most logical of any of the scenarios I think, and the best low-risk, potentially high-reward scenario out there. I think it's just a matter of time until this happens. What's the deal with the girl beating stuff, though? This is the second time I saw that referenced somewhere, but I can't really find any info on it. -
Very well could be true. Or the staff can be stubborn about it and let him ride the pine as #3 for the season and it won't cost them anymore than cutting him. After the season, he walks, and they may get a comp pick out of it. That or trade him if there's an injury to a starter somewhere. There are a million directions this can go.

I see it the other way around. A deal before the draft, Carolina has the leverage. We can't strike a deal, then we have the option to draft a QB. If the draft comes & goes, where we don't take a QB, then Cleveland can up the asking price because we have no other options. I love how unpredictable this is. I have no idea what's going to happen. It's refreshing.

Happy for him. His lack of usage was head-scratching. Almost like they just traded for him in an attempt to get a 2023 comp pick, and they just wanted to preserve his health. Speaking of which, can somebody enlighten me on what this means for 2023 comp picks, if anything? -
ELLIS L. WILLIAMS Of the OBSERVER on Jimmy G

Then we have our first winning season in about half a decade and I have some hope for the future. And I'd totally be ready to eat crow about not wanting Garoppolo. -
It was Carnell. I actually become a fan of his (well, rooted for him) after he got hurt against us, tearing his patellar tendon. That was a knee injury I dealt with just a year earlier and I want to see someone come back and have a success career after that injury. Victor Cruz was another. That's my "cool story bro" moment of the day, I guess.

@Admiral Ackbar, this was an extremely refreshing post. Thanks for sharing your story!

Panthers may now be hesitant to trade back...

If the Saints want their QB, they can give us No. 16, No. 19, and a mid to late rounder then. Still hoping this is all smoke & mirrors and we're going to just take the best OT available and finally shore that spot up. -
Despite bringing it home in 2017, that 'Nova game still stings. That was as tough loss as I've ever dealt with.

Finals. Every time. If you're asking which is easier to swallow, it's being bounced early. But give me a finals appearance every time.

I'm feeling an awful lot like Puff Johnson right now.

I've been to enough events and conferences to know that this isn't anything out of the ordinary. Throwing a few back, shooting the poo, and chatting it out with other coaches is nothing concerning. And there's always a few that are a little bit 'extra'. Looks like Rhule is one of those guys. I wouldn't read into it.

I really appreciate Fitterer's handling of most questions thrown his way. He usually doesn't just give an answer, but additional context, as well. He strikes me as somebody that will continue to learn from his mistakes and improve. Hopefully Rhule starts doing the same.

Living in PA, I'm having a really hard time not buying tickets to the game on Sunday.

Panthers plan to pick up Brian Burns fifth year option

Not sure which you're referring to. But I agree. -

It goes even deeper than this, however. Where is the pressure coming from? How quickly does it get to the QB? Is it after 2 seconds with the ball or 4? Is it due to the QB rolling out? You can really get in the weeds of this.
