What exactly can Cleveland offer that would be attractive to Houston? Pick 13 is obviously not as valuable as pick 6 and the thought is that if Watson goes to Cleveland that they will become a contender thus negating the value of any future first round pick. Not to mention, they’d have to include Mayfield and there’s no shot Houston would want him. If they aren’t offering Denzel Ward or Greedy Williams in any deal along with multiple picks and prospects then Cleveland isn’t taking that deal. They’ll want even more from Cleveland since they are in the AFC.

Panthers sign S Xavier Woods (3 years, 15.75m)

I really don’t like Chinn in coverage and as a SS he’s still responsible for the running back and occasionally wide outs depending on the formation. With his speed and nose for the football he could be an elite WLB if he put on 10 lbs. I think Chinn at 6’3” - 230 lbs. would be a menace at WLB. -
Panthers close to deal with G Austin Corbett

That’s interesting, I wonder what the plan is for LG once we trade away all of our picks… leave Christensen on an island by himself? Corbett - Moton is a good tandem on the right though. -

Excellent run blocker, needs to develop better in pass coverage but with a mobile QB (assuming we sell the farm for Watson) he doesn’t have to be perfect. -

Ian Thomas managed to get a better deal than Xavier Woods… what a time to be alive. -

How do you gather that? Woods has spent most of his career at FS. -

It would be even better if he put on 10 lbs. and played OLB in the mold of Thomas Davis. Someone who has a nack for the ball like Chinn should be playing as close to the LOS as possible. -

There’s some talent there. We have two roster slots open heading into the summer transfer window which is the big window for European transfers. It will be interesting to see what this team looks like in mid July. -

I was going to say earlier that LB is a weakness for this team. Mora hasn’t impressed at all and it’s clear at this point that Fuchs cannot play LB in a back four. He can play inside or LCB in a 3-5-2 or a similar formation with WB’s but he simply can’t keep up with the pace of wingers when he’s isolated as a LB. -

A couple things here. - Bender is dangerous and going to be a solid player for us. Ditto with Gaines. - We need a lot more from Franco and Bronico, both are standing around in the middle of the field waiting for someone else to make a play. - Khalina is a very good keeper, he does struggle with some of those aerial crosses though. I’d like to see Alcivar and Armour come on and see Bender move to the middle of the field so he gets more touches. GK - Kahlina LB - Armour LCB - Makoun RCB - Corujo RB - Lindsey CDM - Alcivar CM - Franco CAM - Bender LW - Ortiz CF - Swiderski RW - Gaines If we’re still level around the 70th minute then bring Rios on for Lindsey and Walkes on for Franco and switch to a 3 - 4 - 3. GK - Kahlina LCB - Makoun CB - Corujo RCB - Walkes LM - Armour CDM - Alcivar CAM - Ortiz RM - Bender LF - Swiderski CF - Rios RF - Gaines -

Another opportunity to get our first win. Looks to be a 4-3-1-2 or a 4-3-3. Kahlina, Fuchs, Makoun, Corujo, Lindsey, Bender, Franco, Bronico, Ortiz, Swiderski, Gaines -

This is the problem with MLS… the MLS pundits, media, and homers think that there is only one way to build an MLS team… that’s also the reason that the MLS will always be a cellar dweller league. I applaud Zoran for trying something different, if Arriola and Machis were on this team then we’d be the talk of the town. The style of play (and not having relegation with the USL) is what’s holding the MLS back. Charlotte will continue to pull numbers because eventually this style of play will pay off. Hell, New England won the Supporters Shield last year and they can’t even pull. We will be fine after a couple of transfer windows.
