Saturday Night/MNF Game Cowboys Vs. Lions
MillionDollarCam replied to Butterflyj30's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hutchinson was a force tonight which makes Campbell’s decision to continue going for two even more baffling. The Lions defense was playing solid. The Cowboys only drove the field once, the other TD was just CeeDee Lamb being CeeDee Lamb. I don’t get the decision. -

The Lions defense had been solid all night. If Campbell doesn’t have confidence in his defense to get a stop in OT after kicking the XP in regulation then I think that says more about him as a coach than going for two multiple times does. If he doesn’t think his defense can get a stop in OT then he needs to prepare his defense better but going for two from the seven yard line (even though there was a penalty) and then again from the 4 is just dumb. Even if you have three plays drawn up that you’d deem are a success, the odds that you succeed are slim. Just bad coaching. -

Dan Campbell’s aggression fugs his team way too much. Passed up free points in the first half which in hindsight would have won the game for the Lions and then continuing to go for two three straight times instead of sending the game to OT is idiotic. I’m all for being aggressive but some of his decisions are moronic. -

A battle of which coach wants to poo all down their leg more tonight. -

Detroit should have kicked the field goal back in the first half rather than going for it on 4th down. If Dallas scores a TD here then it’s over and that could have been avoided if Detroit just took the easy points in the first half. -

Ben Johnson can stay in Detroit if he continues running Gibbs out of the shotgun. Time and time again Gibbs has shown he’s best when running down hill. -
Is Matt Nagy calling the plays in KC? If so, I can’t imagine that continues much longer. Hell, he may not be employed much longer.

I like to bring this up when it’s relevant and it’s relevant now more than ever. In January of 2019, the St Louis Blues were dead last in the NHL. They then went on an improbable run and made the playoffs and eventually won the Stanley Cup… What changed you might ask, well the Blues called up Jordan Binnington and he proceeded to go 24-5-1 with a .927 save %. All this to say that the season doesn’t start until January and if the Canes can find CONSISTENT goaltending then they’ll have a chance.

Met him a few times at the Dean Dome, up there with Hubert as one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.

Canes place Raanta on waivers
MillionDollarCam replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Raanta was always going to be reassigned if he cleared. The Canes get no cap relief unless he is claimed or reassigned. If he cleared and was not reassigned then the Canes would still be on the hook for his full hit, that’s why it’s called burying a contract in the AHL. Additionally, to my knowledge, Raanta was not placed on unconditional waivers which is what is required in order to terminate a contract. And unless there is a contract breach, the termination of a contract has to be agreed upon by both parties. Raanta would only agree to that if he was intent on returning to Finland. Now, instead of Raanta’s cap hit being $1.5M, it’s only $350,000 and it’s referred to as a buried penalty. Also, in regards to a trade, there is a trade freeze coming up from December 20th to December 28th. -
There we go! Elite play making by Aho.

Tony can’t sit anymore. He just makes the PP go, he really knows how to get the defense to open up with his skating and his passes are always on point.

Drury has been the Canes best player, I shouldn’t have to say this but here we are.

2023-2024 General Canes Thread
MillionDollarCam replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Personal opinion but I think there’s a combination of things going on. Bad goalie play, guys playing for contracts rather than the team, and our opponents finally understanding how to properly defend us. All three issues need to be addressed in order for us to be successful. It’s obvious that a trade for a goalie is a must. Secondly, the guys that aren’t buying in need to be shipped out, get guys in here that want to win a cup. Finally, more transition, less forecheck. If you can’t score in transition in this league then you are fuged. Teams know that all we do is get pucks in deep, cycle the puck, and then get shots blocked from the point. Defenses don’t even bother chasing anymore, they stay home and keep everything to the outside. Our offense needs more variety. But we need all three things to happen to be successful. -
I’m out. Got things to do tomorrow. Wake me if we get a goalie.

It’s Edmonton so I have to go with their daddy. Svech.
-
Man that one sucks, felt like we deserved a point there. I want to blame someone but there’s really no one to blame because you just don’t win many games only scoring one goal. I do wish everyone without the last name Staal was better in the face-off circle.
-
It’s a shame that our best PP player is absolute dick at every other aspect of hockey.
-
Alright, time to cross all appendages hoping that Raanta doesn’t give up a laugher.
-
Svech not getting an assist but Necas scoring the first goal.
-
It’s first penalty not first goal right? I win right?

It’s coming lol.
