Brady Christensen to start at Guard this week
Martin replied to BlitzMonster's topic in Carolina Panthers
That’s what I was thinking as well, I appreciate the insight. I also like the idea of his athleticism at LG and pair him with an athletic LT in the draft. I’d rather put a mauling guard next to Moton. -
Brady Christensen to start at Guard this week

Looks like Brady is starting at RG, wouldn’t it make more sense to start him at LG (and I know, nothing about this makes sense). I was thinking at least keep him on the left side. For those of you who understand O-Line, wouldn’t it be easier for him to transition to LG, instead of RG, from LT, or does it not matter? -
That’s what I try to do. Would be much easier if we were playing our young guys more, that’s the missing piece for me.
-
Verge, what’s your take on Strong if his knee checks out?
-
Agreed, I’ve been hiking with the family and fly fishing. Recording the games so I can fast forward.
-
And that is what I’m missing, the refusal to play the young guys.
-
Don’t get me wrong, still support the team. But success in the last five games will only prolong Rhule’s stay, and that is not a good thing.
-
I’ve gone from the point of supporting Rhule to realizing he’s a clown. At this point we need to lose out so he gets fired. And I can’t believe I’m saying that, it goes against everything in believe in in sports. Normally I can take some late wins if they show progress for our young players, improvements in coaching etc. But in this case he needs to go. I remember the Clausen season. Watched every game, enjoyed small improvements etc, but not sure what to watch for this year. Hoping to see Cam play well and our young corners to continue to develop. But that is pretty much it. Normally I’d watch for our O-line rookies to improve, but since they are barley playing… What are you hoping to see over the next few weeks?
-
I know, new position every week. Just mind boggling. And what is up with his Daley fetish? Unbelievable.
-
Agree with you, I would also put Strong in tier 1 if his knee checks out.
-
To add to this, the whole pre-season Brady was playing RT, not guard or center… I was a big supporter of Rhule, but what a

Great article in the observer today, here’s a short section: ”When watching film of each Panthers game, it becomes a struggle to recognize when a run call complemented the passing game. Simply put, the Panthers’ runs do not resemble their dropback game, which makes dissecting post-snaps plays easier for defenders. Brady’s designs did not put the Panthers in enough advantageous situations either. Instead, he repeatedly asked receivers to win their respective matchup rather than scheming them open. Deceitful tools like play-action throws were a limited part of his offense as well. For example, quarterback Cam Newton used play-action only nine times over the past two weeks.”
-
Agree with this. Come draft time I’m sure I’ll talk myself in to a QB. But the smart thing is to pick a stud LT and build the line.
-
I really like the idea of bringing back Norwell. Outside if his play at LG (probably the weakest of all the weak spots), he sets the tone and attitude on the line, and that is something sorely missing today.

I think he might be a smarter passer and using more touch than in the past. But I don’t think he’s the same runner as he was, which is ok. He can still run but he’s 6 years older and not as fast and agile. The way he ran back in 2015 was just another level. If he has no further shoulder issues he will be a top tier QB for years. I’m worried about the shoulder but hope he proves me wrong. Some of you Cam super fans got to chill and not take offense to any little thing said about Cam, you treat it like a personal attack. It feels like you are almost looking for something to be offended about. I have a Cam jersey, my son has a Cam jersey, but I’m willing to accept that Cam at 32 is not the same athlete as he was at 26, and so should any reasonable person.

I agree, we should be able to get a really good one for our line. Combine that with (hopefully) one good FA signing and we might have a decent to good line ne t season.
-
We haven’t been this bad ever. Our record shows it.

We only had 23 wins between 2009-2012 and we are currently at 22 wins from 2018-2021 with 6 games to go.- 38 replies

I’m sorry if you are not excited to see Cam over the next couple of weeks,l

Thank you, I appreciate you strong and insightful input to this thread.

Heineke Is good for a couple of strong games per season, I just don’t think he can do it over a full season. The fourth down conversion was pretty impressive.
-
Yeah there was one pass in particular to DJ where Cam threw it low so he could catch it and avoid getting destroyed. Really good stuff.

I apologize for trying to find some bright spots, I know that is not a good fit among all doom and gloomers. I would appreciate to keep this relatively free of negativity as there are plenty of threads for that: 1) Really happy with Cam’s play today. A lot to build on as he gets the full playbook down. Looked in control and played smart. 2) Really impressed by CJ Henderson’s tackling, his supposed weak spot. He got beat on one play, but looked really good overall. Excited to follow his progress now that he’s back from his shoulder injury. 3) From what I could tell Brady Christensen looked pretty decent at LT. He moves really well. Would like some more input on this as I just casually focused on him on a couple of plays. A bad loss, but I’m pretty excited overall moving forward as our defense matches up pretty well with most teams moving forward, Gilmore getting more up-to-speed, Horn coming back for the playoffs(?) and the offense continue to progress under Cam.

Should be a lot of options as I’m assuming the whole Buffalo coaching staff gets fired for being blown out but Indy, completely unable to stop the run, or the Titans being outplayed by the Texans, I’m thinking they should all be fired, maybe as soon as tomorrow. Right? Am I doing this right?

Not sure why anyone is surprised. Cam’s only been back for a bit over a week, so the playbook is somewhat limited with him until he gets it fully down. Some mentioned earlier it will be at least 4 weeks. So this makes total sense.
