  1. Literally any team in the NFCSouth could be the best or the worst this season. There is just no way to tell. The whole division just had the Etch-A-Sketch shake happen and it is all being drawn again new.
  2. I'm hoping that's the case, too. By all rights, we should be better positioned than we were last season, especially at the mid-way point where Wilks took over. Wilks got handed a crap team and really made them competitive, something we hadn't been in four or more years. Reich got handed that team, got to prune it a bit, got the very first pick in the NFL draft and had an offseason with reasonable cap space to build what he could from what he needed. He also got to assemble what had to be a stellar cast of coordinators and assistant coaches, something Wilks had instead to make do with who was left. I hope, and I really feel, that Reich can make the most of this. We've got a really young but ready team and the NFCSouth has never seen so much turnover and turmoil. However, if the team nosedives, I think it might be fair to take a moment and wonder if we had our man on the roster before and made a terrible mistake.
  3. Just wondering how long it took Wilks to get the team around to being competitive?
  4. I wonder if Wilks' short tenure in Arizona came about partly because he was unwilling to keep looking the other way...

Let us know how it is!
  6. And yet, we took a massive step down with Rhule. Here's hoping Reich puts us back right.
  7. I've been saying this for a couple of years, but I get shot down time and time again. Maybe I'm wrong, it was just Rhule, all Rhule. We should see after this season.
  8. How can you not love Bob Barker. Sure was nice having him around. And as someone said earlier this afternoon, "He got as close to 100 as possible without going over. " The ultimate game master.
  9. Man, too young. Reports are coming out that after a long bout with COVID, the heart issues that developed from it (or intensified from it) led to a fatal heat attack. He had just been cleared to wrestle again two weeks ago. https://www.espn.com/wwe/story/_/id/38253739/former-wwe-champion-bray-wyatt-dies-age-36
  10. Let's just all hold on until Sept. 10. Then all of this either won't matter or we can say it really did. And then we can move on, because we have to. The real season starts, the real team takes the field, the real results happen and the real consequences or rewards play out.
  11. Let's file this in the way, way too early to tell bin.
  12. Like I said, it's sad. That's not a high mark to clear, yanno? Don't get me wrong, I'll never call for Marty's return. I don't even have much praise, and what there is is faint for him. Still, we've had more than our share of duds brought in both by draft and free agency since Fitterer came on board. It had a lot to do with the coaching. I'm hoping with new coaches, it'll prove that it rested fully on Rhule's shoulders. If not... well... there it is.
  13. I've been asking this for years but it just creates a poo storm. I'm unimpressed with the guy to be honest. This is sad, but I don't think he's close to the talent evaluator that Marty was, or the horse trader. And I'm not really a big fan of Marty. From the moment he said, "We're in on every deal" I began to suspect he wasn't up to the job. That's the kind of thing a rube says, the sucker says, the guy left holding the bag says. So far, he hasn't been proving me terribly wrong. You know what, though? I'd really rather be proven completely wrong by him and there's a chance to him to do this starting now. Maybe he hasn't been suckered time and time again, maybe he's played the long game well with the limited cards he was dealt. But let's be honest. Things have not gotten better in any way since Ron Rivera left and that's a pretty telling situation. Really let that sink in. It hasn't gotten better. That's ownership from the get go and Fitterer and Rhule together the year after. I'm hoping new coach and new staff and new QB will be the formula. If not, then it may well be a top down situation.
  14. We just wanted to see something. We haven't seen anything good yet. Really. But, what we want to see and what the coaches need to see might not intersect at this time. The frustration is real, as is the evaluation. Come weeks 1-3 we'll know a lot more about this. Sure hope it looks better, though.
  15. It's just the preseason, it's just the preseason. And we've all been waiting for a long time for the bad days to be over. We got a new coach (and staff) to begin anew. We mortgaged the future to grab the first pick in the draft and hopefully snag a new franchise QB. We were all hoping to see something good out there. And we haven't so far. And it can be really disappointing. But it's just the preseason. These games don't matter. I just wish we were seeing something to make us feel like when the games matter, we'll be there and be competitive.
  16. In Greensboro, just forget the chains and head over to Giaccamo's!
  17. We did and I think you're right. Tough decision. Still, wish we'd have snagged him back to the team before he went to Philly.
  18. Byrd was always a talented guy who was just small. That's a tough combination in this league, even Smitty had some massive injuries from the hits he took. I hope he heals up well and the year will help him decide which way to go, back to the field or on to the rest of what should be a good life out there.
  19. Gross over-reaction but... Wow, they looked bad enough out there to make Rhule chuckle to himself. We've got to do better than that on Friday. I know it's just the pre-season but if you can't get your guys who are fighting for their jobs and dreams to at least score 3 points... at home... Whew.
  20. How about some points??? Less feasting by pass rushers??? How about some good runs? Multiple first downs that don't require the other team scoring first? C'mon team, just give me something that doesn't make me wonder if we haven't gone backwards even further..
  21. Nice article. Still wishing we had somehow kept Bradberry back in the day, or caught him when he got free again. Imagine him and Horn out there together. I hope Chinn can work at nickel. He's a really big nickel, but maybe they can make it work. He's a smart kid and a good student of the game ... that can make up for a lot.
  22. Life can be pretty messy. Especially when money gets involved. We have no way of knowing what happened yet and we'll never really be able to know what the original intentions of all the parties were. It just sucks that things like this do happen and that it may have happened here. In the end, the lawyers will probably win the day in court and both parties will go home with less money and less family than they started with.
  23. When will Corbett be back? There's the million dollar question.
