  1. That was one creepy dude. If you're familiar with the Boone area, he served as music director for the Horn in the West show back in the late 1960s for a season, maybe two. Weird, weird connection. The guy was a loon, but who knew he'd be as dangerous as he was?
  2. There are options not available in the questionaire. Take best player on the board at #9. Look to take either the Georgia or TCU QB in the third round (one or both will be available). Snag a decent vet/journeyman QB after the draft in free agency and develop the team, develop Corral and the new QB. There's a good chance that the fourth best QB is the best QB left on the board at pick number nine. That fourth best QB might well be available around pick 75ish. It'd be smarter to grab the best DE, TE, LB, CB at 9 and get a future star than just the also ran that is left at QB.
  3. The teams ahead of us have a history of picking bad QBs in the draft. We have a history of picking bad QBs in the draft. Maybe we should let them go first and clear out some of the well-hyped, but ill-equipped, and give us some better opportunities.
  4. This has an entirely different feel to it than the Rhule hire did. This has the feel of how it is supposed to be done. I was a Wilks guy, but I'm 100% behind Reich now. And I like how things are building. The foundation looks solid so far, I'm just dying to hear who we'll have as OC.
  5. I'd love to see Brian Griese be brought in as OC. That's a short stint as a coach, though. Could he really do the job? I mean, there's a ton of on the job QB experience on his resume, and even the analytics stuff from Monday Night Football, and he managed to really bring out the most of his QBs at San Fran under the toughest of circumstances. Could he... maybe??? Sheesh, the QBs room would have sooo much experience in there from coaching alone that we might not need a single vet QB there.
  6. This ^ is becoming my mantra for whoever we sign/draft/retain as QB this year. I've got some faith in the decision making process at the QB position for once. They may choose someone out of left field, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. They may trade away resources for the right guy, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They may stay put for the moment and work with who we have and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
  7. They've also seen loss. And that, in the hands of someone with wisdom, can really be an asset. I like the look of this group. Some young, some old, some right in the middle. New ideas with proven leadership and some wise eyes to course correct when needed.
  8. Sorry, my bad. It's just with all the pre-draft hype around here you'd think there were four Hall of Fame bound QBs on the board in the first round and we will just die if we don't trade the farm for one of these gems. After a while, it gets ridiculous hearing it again and again. You might not have been one of those doing it, but there's a contingent here that just devours the hype and wants you to grab a handful of it, too.
  9. I don't like your math, but there it is and the numbers don't lie. We need to stop restructuring and giving out huge signing bonuses that just grind us up for years to come. Dead money has been killing us for a decade or so, right?
  10. The list of guys who "showed so much in college" and went in the top 10 picks is sooooo incredibly long on busts... probably longer than those who made it, particularly at the QB spot. Of course, you never hit the shot you don't take, but c'mon let's not crown someone for the HoF based on their college performance.
  11. And you have absolutely nothing solid to back up those projections.
  12. Okay, I'm beyond intrigued now with the staff being assembled. I'm just going to sit back and watch this all unfold. I'm really liking this so far. It's like someone said, you want to make sure you have that locker room, then get a bunch of guys who have been players, who know the life, know the trenches.
  13. Okay, so maybe I'm a moron, but is there a specific button on the page to vote for her or do you cast a vote each time you click on her picture on the page???
  14. Great! Now you are free from that problem. Whew! May the rest of the things go just as smoothly.
  15. Some would also say that with all of those efforts, if we couldn't find a QB before, what makes you think that buy throwing away future resources that they will make the wise decision this time??? We don't have a draft position problem, we have a long-standing QB evaluation problem.
  16. Letting it go to collections can cause serious problems if they are looking to finance the next house.
  17. The key to every negotiation is realizing that both sides want to come out with some kind of positive result. Sometimes it's just the smallest victory someone needs before they will concede and walk away from the dispute. Some people don't realize what the real win is. In your case it is getting this settled and out of the way so it doesn't come back and bite you.
  18. Ayup. I'm probably right about this, too.
  19. And there's where you work it. Start by saying, "Help me out here, what things am I being billed for? Could you please itemize the services? Then ask them to resend the invoice for payment." Once they do that you can pick out the things that didn't get done... You have to get them to set the playing field, but only after you've led them to it. And when negotiating any of the items, always be apologetic and say things like, "Yanno, I don't remember that this service in line four was done, can you help me with that?" Always ask them to help you and you will make a lot of way on this. And never say you will pay until all of the negotiated prices are delineated in the invoice that you agree to. Then, pay it quickly and include a note saying Thanks for working with me on this.
  20. Except that in this case, a judge would ask you, "Did his workers go into your house?" "Well, yes, they did." "If they weren't working for you, why did you let them in?" Case closed.
  21. You don't have the popular opinion here but I think you have the right one. I think we need to resign Sam, quit worrying about a QB on day one and really use this draft to build a team. Part of that is because Sam played well at the end, and part of that is that we need more young, inexpensive talent on the field. The most cost effective place to get those players is in the draft and the real value skill players are on the board at #9 ... a veritable field of choices if you stop worrying about QB. Also, I think we should snag a QB prospect on day 3 of the draft. Both QBs from this year's FBS championship could still be available at that time. Both have knocks on them for size, but they have great competitiveness. Find QBs that are dyed in the wool winners there and you are way ahead of the game. Give Corral someone to compete against and see what our new HC can make of them.
