Hey You, You Don't Know Quarterbacking
Khyber53 replied to fieryprophet's topic in Carolina Panthers
So good to see you back! And what a great post. Hope to see more and more from you. There have been some really rough years for the team and there's developed a crusty, cantankerous exterior to those who've stayed through it all. Maybe a little sunlight is starting to peek through the cracks once again and this place can be more upbeat. And yes, maybe having Bryce as the QB as we improve might set the idea of what a QB is and how important the whole of a team is in its right spot. We appreciate not just your return but your insight! -
PRO FOOTBALL FOCUS: Top 15 NFL rookies through Week 6
Khyber53 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Our young guys are looking solid all of a sudden. Might we be finally on the upswing? Canales keeps this up, there's no telling where we'll be. -
He'll end up in Buffalo.

People get trade happy and look at resources as barter items. They fail to see them as resources to be used to our benefit rather than someone else's. Right now, Chuba and Rico are massive benefits to us and a strong rushing attack so greatly benefits any passer, much less a young one like Bryce still is. And the better our running game, the more our offense can eat up the clock, the less time our defense is on the field. And that is priceless, too. Don't mess with the running game. Don't mess with the receivers. Maybe look at our O-line and think we may have hit on something good during these injuries. Look at our D-line and seem some strength evolving there. Our secondary has its good spots and some that are still developing. Our linebacking corps did well this last outing. Our special teams are on a major upswing as of this past week. Heck, even our QB is showing us a little something right now that we can build on. Perhaps putting out a yard sale sign right now might be less advantageous than looking at the team and saying, "You are all part of something good that is happening. We want to see that continue to grow."

We're in a weird place right now, we're not buyers, we're not sellers. Let's ride with what we've got. A new Double Trouble could be the remedy for what has been ailing us. And honestly, I like both of those guys a lot. Etienne, too.

It’s time to discuss DANimal Morgan as our GM
Khyber53 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh yeah, immensely important. I've been saying we need to scrap the whole lot for about 9-10 years now. We've shown some deficiencies for sure. Then again, coaching hasn't been strong, either. -
It’s time to discuss DANimal Morgan as our GM

It's week six and our wins were against opponents that have serious flaws. They've been refreshing to see, but let's get some more W's or L's before we start making any pronouncements on Morgan's future. The tea leaves are barely wet at this point. Let them settle before you try to read them. -
Every danged day of my life!

You're right. And he's been on the upswing, something that's been a long time coming. And over the last few years, we woulda been better with a Trent Dilfer out there considering everything. But right now, we got a W following a W the week before. It has been a while since we've been there. And we're at .500. I know that's only a C grade right now, but man, after so many F grades in a row... it's kinda refreshing to be here. Is Bryce a long term answer here? He's still got a long way to go. Could he do it? Those three touchdown passes he made were bang on, high performance throws. And they finally game planned him pushing the ball down field. It was against a weak Dallas defense, but at least they were running a game based on attacking weaknesses of the defense rather than covering the weaknesses of our own team. Maybe both Canales and Young are maturing before our eyes.

Oh, I don't disagree. And I've been a regular critic of Bryce's over the years. I just don't see a single real reason to kick the man over his performance this week. Heck, this whole team looked like it deserved to be on a pro football field this past weekend -- something they haven't looked like for a long time. And I'm going to take a chance to just smile about it and feel good for a bit. Reality might settle back in on this team, or maybe something cool will happen. But man, let the dog wag it's tail when the sunlight suddenly falls on it for once.

You've been this way since you were Fiz. Lighten up a bit.
-
And let's not forget Ryan Fitzgerald. That guy had a busy, busy day and he rocked the hell out of it. I was scratching my head about the move away from Piniero, and thought we were saving dimes instead of dollars, but this kid is the real deal.

If a team has a punishing ground game, the defense is fair to middling and has a QB that spreads the ball around to open receivers (no matter who they are) AND you're winning games... Then what the fug are you complaining about????? For fug's sake, just cheer a bit you twisted pisspots.

Let's enjoy the moments, but let's not buy the crown. Let's wait and earn the danged thing.

Official Week 6: Cowboys @ Panthers Gameday Thread
Khyber53 replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, that was fun! Reminds me of 2003. C'mon Jets! -
Y'all gotta quit crying about the girls you didn't get to date.

Let's go ahead and see how it all works out. The challenges don't get easier. And if he's going to make it, this is Bryce's chance to do more than chip away at the wall between who he has been and who they want him to be. If we win, let's enjoy it, though. Because it is getting old just pissing on ourselves even when the wind has changed just because we've gotten used to having a wet pants leg.

Pass rushers players only meeting regarding sacks
Khyber53 replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's about learning to play without fear. That's something this team has to learn. -
His absence here over the last couple of seasons speaks volumes otherwise.
-
He played better for us than any of the linebackers we've had not named Shaq for the last few years. Especially this year. The guy would have been a starter and probable star on any of the other teams in the league. He had to come in and start between Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly, though and well, those guys cast some long, long shadows.

Did I miss something or in opening lineup announcements at this past Sunday's game, did they have us showing a 4-3 (really a 4-2-5) alignment as our base set? It also seemed like we moved to that for much of the game, but maybe I wasn't seeing what I thought I was. I've been hoping we'd leave behind the 3-4 defense for years now as it just doesn't match the team or pair up well against the builds of the opposing teams in the NFCSouth.

Both were heroes, just of different recipes. We've got to celebrate both!

The Dowdle Mirage - Play Calling Problems
Khyber53 replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Look, I've been pounding on the Canales shouldn't be calling the offensive plays thing since last year. He's first off, not very versatile and makes Ron Rivera look like a master of mid-game adjustments. Also, because I think you really, really need to be calling the offensive plays from the booth with a better view of the whole field. A coach on the field cannot grasp how the opposing sideline WR is doing in coverage while also checking the two receivers on his side, plus keep up with how the line is doing and if the RB is in the groove. Heck, for the line alone he doesn't have the best view of where the RB is going to see success and how to best exploit it. Hence Rico saying, Yo coach, keep running this. Still, all these things in there, no matter how hard I'm banging on that drum, I can't let it drown out my joy in getting one of those rare Ws. Even coaches can learn and grow from them. I sure hope he will. -
Heroes don't last forever. Villains do, though. Brady, Manning, Belichick, Favre, Rodgers, all villains. To us, at least.
