  1. The QB market has exploded so those deals aren't likely to be relevant for anything outside of a fringe starter type. If he balls out, it's gonna be expensive to resign him.
  2. I don't think that is true at all. After all, he had to change his guaranteed contract so that he had to "earn" his money. Then he shows up to have to compete for the job. If anything, they have shown they have very little belief in him at all. This may very well be to rehabilitate his career for a better opportunity, because we basically have him on a one year "prove it" deal.
  3. I think the long term deal is more complex than just Mayfield playing well. He may decide that he doesn't want to be here for a variety of reasons(bigger contract, better opportunities with another team, Panthers coaching change, etc). If he plays VERY well, I am definitely not against getting him on a long term deal. It might get hairy if he plays fairly well but the Panthers don't win many games. If that happens, how much money are we going to be willing to commit? Pro Bowl caliber season might also lead to a massive deal, however. Keep that in mind.
  4. Oh I know. With Wilson they are probably a playoff team now. fug them even more.
  5. The Broncos deserve it. fug them.
  6. Wrong. All those media outlets that have him as a bottom 5 NFL coach are just all crazy. It's working. 1000%. None of them can see it.
  7. You found quite the stalker. Replying to himself over multiple accounts.
  8. Yeah, that is a big concern. Elflein is a known and obvious weakness so if Bozeman isn't a substantial upgrade, that could torpedo a lot of the improvements we supposedly made on that unit. That is why my primary concern is for our OL and DL units. They are thin on talent and high on question marks. And both units are very, very, very shallow in terms of quality depth. We need to develop chemistry quickly and stay healthy. Otherwise it may drag down some big improvements on both sides of the ball. Very nervous about that situation.
  9. I consider TE significantly behind DL, OL and LB in terms of our immediate needs.
  10. I don't want to see them sell the farm, for sure. However, acquiring good assets will only help our future coaching staff. I would be generally upset to see 1st-3rd round picks traded unless it was a very good player.
  11. Don't forget Elflein calling out blocking assignments. Having a competent center has a cascade effect on the entire line. Especially with as many new parts as ours. We need to keep an eye on how cohesive that group is early in the season.
  12. Yeah, that might be as good of a 4 deep at WR as we have had in a few seasons. I don't anticipate the WR corps to be viewed as a reason for offensive struggles.
  13. Not a position of dire need, IMO. That said, he is a very dynamic offensive weapon. I'd be curious what the cost is.
  14. I can think of some but almost all of them are pretty bad news for us.
  15. Davante Adams can only be so good with Mac Jones throwing to him.
  16. IMO, I think he is probably not going to make an impact for us. He's down a year of development for an injury and he will likely be playing for a new coach in 2023 that has no ties to him. Unless he really impresses next offseason, I suspect he will get pushed down the chart pretty far. Depends on personnel, of course. If Mayfield signs an extension or we draft a QB in the first two rounds, I don't see him ever getting any meaningful time here.
  17. I think he means that he looked like he has a steep learning curve in front of him and that he will almost be starting from scratch in 2023. I tend to agree. I don't think he will be ready to do much in 2023. Maybe by 2024.
  18. I'd say the 2021 draft is looking a little shaky at the moment. Horn SHOULD pan out but after that it will depend on the rest of the group. TMJ isn't looking good and BC is a TBD. The rest of the draft appears to be largely JAG/depth guys that may or may not pan out. If we get 2 guys from that 4th-7th round group on second contracts as role players on second contracts, that's a passing grade. If we get a starter from that group, it's a great grade. If TMJ and/or BC don't pan out, it isn't looking good for that class.
  19. Seems like very little smoke and no visible fire.
  20. Maybe that is it. The timing really doesn't make sense.
  21. This would be an exceptionally strange signing. I thought if anything our safeties are pretty well set and we had quality players. Post-Achilles tear Collins is a downgrade from Chinn, IMO. Are we planning on running with three safeties? Collins was a hybrid linebacker/safety in his last season with Washington. Is this because we view the DB's as weak or the LB's? Very odd.
  22. Baker as QB1? - Kind of depends on some other factors. I think the overall QB play will improve dramatically. Less sure about the overall results. McAdoo's system? - This is a wildcard for me. Has the potential to be both the most and least impactful thing. Strange statement, I realize but I am not sure what to think of Rhule's input/control until I see it in 2022. Improved O-line? - This has a big potential to lead to our success/struggles. Maybe one of the biggest factors. Return of CMC? - Would be a major factor if he stays healthy. Other? - I don't think the other offensive position groups will have as much impact on our overall success. Our defense might, however. That will be worth watching.
