Canes vs Flames 10pm Puck Drop
Rocky Davis replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Burns has looked shaky. I think we should have let him have more time during the preseason games. Maybe once he pots one things will start clicking for him. -
Canes vs Flames 10pm Puck Drop
Rocky Davis replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
It's like the X-Files....the truth is out there. Really though the reason that was called was they are playing in Calgary and the Canes were dog walking the Flames up until that point and refs are gonna ref. -
If we were two get 2 1st rounders and say a 3rd for Burns and we absolutely know we are going to be running a 4-3 defense I say yes. Burns is great as a 3-4 DE, but unless it's behind the LOS or he isn't being blocked by a 300 RT (or LT) he's a liability against the run. Can he grow and be better against the run, possibly. Is it a guarantee no. I still don't see a team offering enough so it's probably a moot point anyways. Love to see Shaq, Ian Thomas, CJ all traded though. Hell, if we can get some good practice balls and a couple of coolers of Gatorade for next season we send Chuba outta here too.

Canes vs Flames 10pm Puck Drop

Yeah that embellishment from Kadri was fuggin ridiculous. Got the call and that sorry azz got the goal too. I hate when refs call that BS. Should be 2-0 Canes. -
I didn't know Newton could even think by some of his writing and tweets. Dude could have his 11 year old doing his job with the same quality.

We extracted more from trading CMC to SF than any other team because of two reasons: McCaffreys and Shanahans are friends on and off the field and because CMAC wanted to play on the West Coast.
-
On the bright side no one ever thought that Tampa Bay would be in a sentence containing the words "storied franchises" in the 19th century so maybe the Panthers will one day win a Super Bowl....maybe 2!

Seriously though, if the dynamic was Rhule had FINAL say on the draft, trades, and signing people he really wanted then I strongly feel that Fitterer and company (Morgan if he sticks around) have at least one draft where they can run things the way they see fit along with input from the new HC. This HC having the final say was the knock on what Rhule wanted when he was the "hot" college HC candidate and MANY NFL teams didn't even take time to play his game. Tepper fugged up bad by not firing Hurney and buying his BS a year too long. We can only hope things can be turned around. I hated the winning/losing/winning/losing season crap, but I would take that in a heartbeat after the last 3-4 years. What I want is sustained success.

Does any team have any of those "Greg Olsens" out there available for a one sided trade to help a poor team out?
-
I really thought the Bills or possibly one of the "top" 4-5 teams with Super Bowl hopes would give up their late 1st rounder (if they had it) for next year's draft, but I suppose this was the best offer we could get. CMC wanted out and we got a pretty decent return out of it. I keep reminding myself we basically played the last two seasons without him anyways so it's time to see what Foreman can do for us. This also is a lesson learned for the Panthers that you don't overpay your RB. We always seem to be a few years behind on the NFL learning curve. Good luck to CMC!

Pacioretty Now Expected Back In Mid December
Rocky Davis replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
This....come back in mid January. Better yet, make sure he is 100%. The Metro is loaded and we need to enter the playoffs as healthy as possible. -
well kind of gave this one away, glad to see the team keep fighting. Penalties need to be addressed.
-
We gotta stay outta the box for Stumpy sake.
-
Our boys aren't laying down....should be winning TBH, but fighting back. Aho so damn good and Necas bringing it this year!
-
Against a team you can't take penalties..... Maybe a shortie here??
-
We need to stay out of the penalty box, the Oilers PP1 is pretty potent. They move the puck well. If we stay outta the box I think we win.

Don't forget J Staal and Co.

Canes vs Kraken 10pm Puck drop
Rocky Davis replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
I think everyone thought that Calgary was the better team, but Edmonton let the offense rip during that series. Calgary's defense looked really slow during that series and Markstrom played well below the level he was playing during the regular season. So far this season Edmonton looks to be all offense and a below average defense. I know hopes were high for them, but so far they haven't looked great to me. I will admit I have only seen them play Calgary and Buffalo - both games they lost. Calgary has some talent, their defense is probably weaker than their O. Markstrom can steal games when he's on. It will be interesting to see how the Canes match up. I think our D has been outstanding so far and the PP seemed to finally click a little in Seattle. I would love the Canes to come home undefeated, but hockey is a grind. -

Thanks for pointing that out! I specifically stated that because CMC had been injured the previous two seasons and if the Panthers are really leaning toward a trade then they better get it done; otherwise we are playing with fire.

Canes vs Kraken 10pm Puck drop
Rocky Davis replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
I'd like to get at least 2! Calgary did an excellent job replacing Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk with Jonathan Huberdeau MacKenzie Weegar, and Kadri and will be a tough matchup. -
Double post ignore.

I think you are wrong about what the Panthers can get for him. He's been too good when healthy to let go for anything other than a 1st round draft pick. Just my opinion, and we can agree to disagree.
-
Whoooo boy this is a tough one for me and I bet for a lot of Panthers fans. On one hand CMC has been great when he is healthy. He has been almost all the offense this year, without him our offensive stats would be historically bad. He would be great for a rookie QB to have and he's a top 3 RB in the NFL. He could have even better stats in another offensive system. On the other hand he does have an injury history and he's one play away from having absolutely no value to the Panthers. His cap hit is also high and if the team considers this a total tear down then I would understand trading him. If this is the way they go the Panthers do need to set the price high, CMC is performing extremely well and I've said it in another thread he could be the piece to really put a team over the top as extreme favorites to win it all.....I'm looking at you Buffalo. The Bills beat Kansas City this past weekend, but it could have gone either way. You insert CMC in there and he becomes an added headache for any D coordinator playing the Bills. I would ask for a 1st and a 2nd for him from Buffalo (we would have to retain some of his salary). We are headed towards the #1 pick and that would mean we would have the #1 and very late first round pick from Buffalo, then we'd pick #33 and again somewhere around #62-64. These picks can be used to address areas of need either by drafting, packaging picks to move up and possibly get 2 players who can help immediately, or trade for a player that we need. tl,dr: CMC is valuable whether he stays or is traded.
