Comparing Teddy who had been in the league for 7 years and had DJ, Samuel, and Robby to Bryce in his first career game who had TMJ, Theilen, and Mingo (also in his first game) just shows how out of touch some of you are with reality. And coming from possibly the biggest Cam homer on this board, Cam had Smith, Olsen, and Shockey to start his career. Not exactly apples to apples.

I agree with most of the take except about dealing Burns and being better off by having the picks later on that would be used to find the next Burns. The number one advantage with a QB on his rookie deal is that you have him with the least amount of cap space he will ever take up if he ends up being your franchise guy. So why not surround him with proven players who you can afford to pay now while he is on the cheap contract, instead of crossing your fingers that those future picks are hits AND develop quickly enough to compete before you have to shell out a top of the market contract to your franchise QB?

It’s the only way they can win with him. It’s going to bite them in the ass if they have to play from behind. Falcons fans around me at the stadium were getting pissed at how indecisive he was and that he seems to scared to run even if he has clear lanes. Wouldn’t be surprised if Heinicke ends up making some starts.

For a road game? At any rate, I’m bringing my 11 year old to his first game out of BOA. He’s worried about being out numbered, but I bet there will be more panthers fans at this game then there were panthers fans at last year Steelers game which was at home.

It’s good to know he’s still up to his terrible motivation tactics…he tells his players they are getting “year 4 rhule”. https://247sports.com/college/nebraska/Article/husker-coach-matt-rhule-nebraska-team-plays-at-minnesota-on-aug-31-214959793/

Was he who we do not speak of in the stadium last night?

I kept listening for DBO and the process to be spoken -
He did say that about Corral, but he had Trey Lance rated #6 in his class.

He's just like many other analysts, he has some hits and misses. He doesn't always go with the consensus. 2017 he said Mahomes could be special and touted both of him and Watson over Trubisky 2018 he had Lamar and Josh Allen as the top two ahead of Baker, Darnold, and Rosen 2020 he had Burrow and Herbert as the top two ahead of Tua

My response was to a different poster who said because of the last decade's results where the division winner was typically putting up 11 plus wins, that we should expect the same this year if to have a chance to win. My point was that the last 10 years, we've had 4 good to great quarterbacks in the division, whereas none of the starting QBs now have shown the ability of Prime Cam and Ryan/Brees/Brady. If you don't disagree, then what was the point of your response?
-
He has started all of 4 games and was just OK. I saw nothing that made me think that’s a 10 year starter and a thorn in our side. I am not even convinced he won’t be yanked I’m favor of Taylor Heinicke if he struggles this year. Not sure how you came to the conclusion where you already put him in the Brees/Brady/Ryan/Newton category yet.
-
The past decade the division has had Brees, Brady, and then Cam and Ryan during their primes. Ridder, Carr, Baker and rookie Bryce aren’t on their level. Bryce to me is the only one with potential to be a mainstay.

Maybe there’s something to it…the 6 teams that went undefeated in the preseason last year all missed the playoffs, including the teams who ended up earning the first and second in the 2023 draft. 5 out of the 6 teams who won no preseason games were in the playoffs with the exception being the Ron Rivera led Commanders.

I feel like this needs to be said, but OP I think literally nobody is condemning you for drinking on a Friday night. It’s more that whatever drinking you did during a practice football game somehow turned you into the Loch Ness Karen. Like if preseason football with a few drinks gets you this wound up I’d hate to see what happens if your Little Caesar’s pizza isn’t hot and ready the minute you walk in the store.

By the way, the one he did about the Saints was very enjoyable https://defector.com/why-your-team-sucks-2023-new-orleans-saints -

More often than not this series would usually laugh at how much our fan base hated Cam even when he was at his peak. -
There’s been way more than 4

I didn’t claim Burrow took his team to the playoffs his first year, I just said that he went to a team that was in far worse shape than Kirk’s was when he joined Minnesotas, as evidenced by them having the number one overall pick that year. Not sure how that’s debatable. The Vikings o line in 2017 was ranked 22nd in the league vs 27th in 2018, so it’s not like they were stellar for Keenum either. Burrows o line his rookie year was 30th and improved to 20th the year they went to the Super Bowl.

And my point is that it’s not just playoff record that gives Cousins the choker label, it’s body of work. He came to a team that was in the NFC championship the previous year, whereas Joe Burrow came to a team with the worst record in the league that had not won a playoff game in 30 years. I would get the argument if you were comparing Cousins to Jimmy “just wins playoff games by handing off and not screwing things up” Garoppolo.
-
Not only that, but Cousins has been in the league for over a decade and only has made the playoffs 3 times as a starter, despite being one of the more highly paid starters for several years over that stretch. He's had other meaningful regular season games where he's underperformed too (i.e. primetime games, games with playoff implications, etc).
