Don’t look now, but the Panthers have allowed just 38 points in the last three weeks. They have to clear up the quarterback position but there’s a promising foundation to be excited about for the near future, especially on defense. Considering the adverse circumstances of Matt Rhule’s midseason firing, interim head coach Steve Wilks is doing a very good job. In my opinion, Wilks could be coaching his way into the full time, head coach position.

I am not saying you are wrong about the fans take on Clark Hunt in KC but it would be hard to find any NFL fanbase that didn't have certain people that were critical of the team owner.

Plus, taking real grass off the playing field at the stadium and replacing it with turf that the players hate and say causes injuries.

I feel sure Sean Payton wants nothing to do with the Panthers and I want the Panthers to have nothing to do with Sean Payton.

I read in an article that the Panthers will wind up having to pay Rhule around $ 6 million because a lot of the money in his new contract was back loaded.

I only see two quarterbacks: C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young that are worthy of being taken in Rd # 1 in the 2023 NFL Draft, in my opinion. Those two are followed in order by Will Levis, Tanner McKee and Anthony Richardson, 3 that are long shots to be selected in 1st rd but more likely 2nd rd choices. If C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young are both gone when the Panthers are selecting, I am wondering if they will roll the dice and pick either Levis, McKee, Richardson, or just chose the best player available?

Now the we presently have hind sight, that trade could be one of the biggest steals in NFL history.

If the Panthers only have one more loss by seasons end, I would be more than comfortable with them retaining Wilks as head coach and keeping Darnold as the starter or backup quarterback.

I blame Tepper for selecting Rhule, instead of letting NFL experts do a head coaching job search evaluation and then taking their advice before hiring one.

The fact the Panthers didn't get him was an unanswered pray.

From that list, Brissett, Minshew and Darnold would probably be the the best ones for the salary they would require.

What a big mistake that would have been if the Panthers had sold the farm to obtain Russell Wilson, a QB whose career is heading down hill.

That would pretty much be my take as well.

That I can understand. I pulled for Washington for years before we got the Panthers, so I suppose I got conditioned to pulling for a team that had one bad season after the other. I realize, not everyone can, or perhaps shouldn't get use to doing that.

The whole QB position will be up in the air because a new head coach will want to put his stamp of approval on the team. The QB position will be one of the main things he will address, to see who fits his his overall program plan..
