  1. Hmmm!!! Seems Tepper had a big say in what the Panthers would do when it came time for the # 6 NFL Draft Pick. ( “It really came down to, What’s the right football decision? Let’s not push need. Let’s not be desperate. Let’s make the right football decision for our team,” Fitterer said Sunday morning. “And that was a conversation that was really guided by Mr. Tepper at the time, and Matt and I worked through it with him, and we had all these scenarios mapped out that said, Hey, let’s take the tackle. If the quarterbacks fall, we can always trade up.”)
  2. I really wanted former New Orleans Saints free agent safety Marcus Williams but he has agreed to a five-year, $70 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens. I suppose his high price tag was more than the Panthers were willing to pay.
  3. Especially when lots of pro scouts had him graded as a 4th or 5th rd. pick.
  4. Why would i care what some amateur Mel Kiper want to be writes in an opinion write up about our new quarterback Matt Corral. I listen to NFL Scouts and former NFL Quarterbacks that many called Corral the best pure passer in the 2022 NFL Draft class and had the most solid upside at the next level after he did an excellent job leading his team to a very successful season in the SEC in 2021.
  5. We had what i feel was a very good draft considering we went into it minus our #2 and #3 draft choice.
  6. He looks like a stout, well built "Hog Molly" to me. The kind we need as a present OL backup and future starter at one of the OL positions..
  7. One look at him is all it takes to realize he likes to eat.
  8. Tweet Barrett Sallee @BarrettSallee Matt Corral will have the best career of any QB in the draft, and it won't be close. @OldTakesExposed
  9. "Corral doesn't have the physical advantages that (Pitt QB Kenny) Pickett or (Liberty QB Malik) Willis have but he's a better pure quarterback than either of them." -- Director of scouting for AFC team
  10. I am more than pleased with the way the 2022 NFL Draft has gone. We got the drafts best OT Ikem Ekwonu and now we have obtained Corral, a QB that a lot of draft forecasters had a first round rating on. Two of our needs were filled and it only cost this years fourth and next years third draft choices, moves i can easy live with.
  11. Don't kid yourself, Baker Mayfield is a pro and he will gladly go to any team that pays his salary.
  12. I am just saying this off the top of my head but it would not surprise me if we traded WR Robbie Anderson for a pick or two and then obtained QB Baker Mayfield later. If this happened, i could go along with a present Anderson trade and obtaining Mayfield.later.
  13. Selecting N.C. State’s OT Ikem Ekwonu at No. 6 was a dream selection. There is no way that i though he would make it to us. I was afraid we would do some type of dumb trade back to obtain more draft choices and was greatly relieved when that didn't happen. The Panthers have the making now for a very good OL,something we have not had in a very long time.
  14. I could see this happening but i hope it doesn't. I want one of the top three LT or Willis. Trading back will give us more draft picks but less quailty to chose from.
  15. My draft excited this year is at an all time low. I just cannot make myself have confidence that the Panthers will make wise decisions but will do something stupid trying to make up for the lack of draft picks.
  16. Bingo!! Get a good LT and build a line to assure the QB we eventually get has a decent chance to succeed.
  17. I tend to agree that Howell will be a good value for some team because several of the over hyped quarterbacks will be drafted before him, allowing a team to select him later in the draft.
  18. I would flip that OT draft order and have : #5. New York Giants: Ikem Ekwonu OT, N.C. State #6 Carolina Panthers Charles Gross, OT, Mississippi State I would be happy if we drafted either one of them
  19. Part of the plan to move Chinn deeper to safety was to help get him away from potential blockers and have more space to fly to the ball. Another factor was him being a smaller linebacker. It's not typical you see 218- or 220-pound linebackers in the NFL so that definitely played a part. And as far as making plays, I feel Chinn can make them at either position. When he's used as a linebacker he's a little closer to the ball and a little closer to the line of scrimmage. When he's a safety, he can also make plays on the ball in the air.
  20. The issue for the Panthers is they’ve already previously committed to paying Darnold the same amount when they picked up his fifth-year option after trading for him a year ago. This is why if the Browns offer to cover some of Mayfield’s salary at the time of the trade, the Panthers may be more inclined to talk. Being willing to pay a portion of the salary will only increase trade offers from interested teams. It comes down to what the Browns value more–draft picks or cap space. Depending on whether they feel Deshaun Watson will be suspended for any part of the 2022 season, the Browns could go either way. Preserving the cap space allows a stronger roster to be built this season, while more draft picks keeps building toward the future, or a push to compete in 2023. As far as what type of draft picks the Browns can get back in a Mayfield trade, the Panthers don’t currently have much to part with, but trading down from No. 6 while collecting a few more assets could change things. Basically, if the Panthers trade down in the first round, keep an eye out for a Mayfield trade to be announced shortly after, unless they land a QB. Another potential scenario is one that has the Browns being stubborn, not willing to pay Mayfield’s salary, choosing to unload him while paying a team draft picks to take on his contract. In this case, the Browns may have to package one of their two third-round selections (78 or 99) to coax a team in agreeing to such a trade. Maybe they even tie the compensation into Mayfield’s 2022-23 performance, whether it be based on playing time, wins, or starts. Any trade for Mayfield should likely include some of these provisions as his season could go either way. Still, for a team hoping to add competition to their QB room, Mayfield remains one of the best options available and he won’t cost a team a first round pick, but he does impact the cap in a fairly large way. There’s no telling what a final trade will look like. Since it’s taking so long for the Browns to find a partner, maybe the final price is something minuscule, like a sixth or seventh-round pick, simply to shed his salary and get Mayfield off the roster, avoiding a potentially awkward locker room.
