I appreciate mods allowing this thread to be in the main forum. Cam will always have a place in many of our hearts. I get he attracts trolls, but that shouldn't be the reason to move a thread... This video was interesting. I'd love for Cam to find a place that he can thrive, even if it is as a backup. I personally think Cam sounded much more reasonable than his father. Interesting choice to have him there for the segment.

Darnold takes responsibility for sucking in NYC
mav1234 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's not surprising he has the maturity to take responsibility for things and not to throw people under the bus. Darnold was Jets captain at least in 2020 and I think 2019 as well. There's some weird narrative on this board about him lacking in leadership that is not borne out by even a cursory glance... It's weird stuff. -
NFL Network says Darnold worst starting QB in the league.

Sam's best drive was certainly the 2 minutes but the 2nd quarter had 3 drives, 1 punt because we failed to get 2 yards in 2 downs, and 2 TDs... I would also argue the 1st drive was as much on Brady/Rhule testing if the OL could get a yard as on Darnold. I can agree the performance didn't settle anything but I thought he made some quality throws. -
Who do you think should be a captain on this team? How do you know these players don't exhibit leadership skills?
-
Just a reminder that how these players act in interviews may not be reflective of how they act in lockerrooms, and one does not need to be cocky or boisterous to be a leader.

I've seen a couple popular media notes about Darnold struggling vs backups. I don't get it. I get saying we can't judge him much from his play vs them, but he had a solid half... -

I also found this an odd one. The way he bounced back from a rocky early start by a turnstyle OL was pretty good I thought. -
ESPN Analytics' simulation. You're not gonna like it...maybe
mav1234 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
This wasn't asked of me, but: 1) Significant overall improvement in decision making and general play that results in a clearly upgraded QB position to at least the level of an above average starter across the season (I would say Teddy was pretty damn average, so I'd like to see Darnold slightly above that - I don't expect next year to resolve all questions of him on this board for sure), and 2) Glimpses into true high-level potential on occasion throughout the season that gives us hope that another year in our system could result in a real step forward and a real solution at the QB position for the long-term. Ideally a player whose ceiling could be in the top 5ish. Game winning drives, 4Q comebacks, etc. -

The reality is there is so much parity in the NFL, even bad teams can put together a win or two at unexpected times and so the team with the worst record may not even be the team with the overall worst roster etc... But you can often guess what fourth of the league teams will end up in, although there are always exceptions. -
We ALL make mistakes, get numbers wrong, etc from time to time, but that was downright ridiculous. I knew it had to be about hospitalizations and vaccination rates... So tired of that poo.
-
Yup, and as @Floppin Pointed out we can't use census numbers since rates are usually reported as elligible adults.
-
Hahaha dude you took a small time slice of vaccination effort for one entity doing vaccinations out of many, did shitty napkin math that was wrong on multiple levels, and embarassed yourself. Do keep up.
-
Good point. Another reason we shouldn't extrapolate doses administered to % or rate.
-
Not to mention those are doses administered by BCHHS specifically it seemsI... don't know the counties vaccine distribution effort but it probably doesn't include stats when people get one or both doses elsewhere. Not to mention we don't know the percentage of those doses that were J&J...
-
Hahaha. This dude tells is the actual data on percentage vaccinated is wrong for the county but the doses administered isn't, but didn't notice the big text disclaimer of "NOTICE: (Wednesday, June 30 to Wednesday, July 18, 2021)" Oooooof.
-
So, where do you keep updated on news and current events, if not from news outlets?
-
So we still don't know which county LG was wrong about or why it matters that he was wrong? Oof. Maybe he wasn't wrong, maybe he got percentages wrong by a small bit... But if the counties are reporting his numbers, or within a few percents of em, he seems to be in the right... Why do I suspect this has to do with hospitalization numbers and someone arguing the vaccine doesn't work.

Not sure what you mean by no pass. I'm sure a team like the Patriots worked with Cam so that he could learn in the best way for him. If a surgeon gets through school and residency he's going to be pretty fuging competent at his job; if he did so with a significant learning difference, all the more power to him. Same for a pilot. Cam is an NFL player and former MVP. He can play the position and learn a playbook, even if it's not the same way some others do.
-
Where did Ninkovich say Cam learns differently? Ive been trying to find that quote and all I can find is him commenting Jones was teaching Cam the offense and making fewer errors with it. I'm not arguing if Cam had ADHD or learning difficulties of another type... My point was that's different from what Ninkovich had said. If he did say that, my mistake.
-
What? There must be more of the quote. I haven't seen Nikovich explain that it was anything at all like ADHD, seemed to just be him making up bullshit.
-
Hard to trust a process when what we've seen from the OL has been so dismal. I agree they know more than us, but man...
-
There's a big difference between learning differently (and/or having ADHD) and not knowing a playbook and needing to be taught it by a rookie too.
-
Oh definitely. Belicheck knows the rules and would never admit it was the reason anyway. I don't know if it was the only reason, but his missing time because he wasn't vaxed contributed to Jones taking over the first time offense, it seemed.
