Please read the full thread and the multiple tweets throughout the thread before lambasting Bryce for not answering that specific question the way you wanted. He takes ownership for how bad he played and mentions he is going to work to get better. That's all you can ask from the kid at this point. *This is not an endorsment of his skills as a passer or an excuse for how he played, he played god-awful, just trying to temper the vitriol and hate being thrown his way that is questioning the kid's character.

Because that's dishonest and the team would see right through it. Don't BS your players. It also sends a message of "Anyone is replaceable if they don't produce, even the supposed franchise QB." New regime is a meritocracy as opposed to Rhule's OOU BS.

I think he got David Carr'd. Shell shocked behind a pourous offensive line and it sucked any confidence out of him. He, like you said, looked fine in camp, but the live bullets started flying and he crumbled. Hell, he looked good in his lone preseason drive. He looked like a completely different QB compared to what we've seen the past two weeks. There was zero confidence on the field since the regular season started. The best thing for him and his future is to be benched. You can see the doubt in his eyes. If the dude has any testicular fortitude he'll turn this disappointment into motivation to get better. Not holding my breath though, I think he's cooked and the only way he becomes a competent starter is after years on the bench and for another team.

I really don't know if Tepper told him to do it. The only way that makes sense to me is if he heard the boos and saw the empty stadium and told Canales to pull the plug on the Bryce Experiment because money. But then Canales also has eyes and he witnessed Bryce flounder behind great protection, solid rushing, and open receivers en route to 80 yards passing total for an entire game after putting up an absolute stinker the week before in NO. If he's not a complete moron, he's benching Bryce himself, owner's opinion be damned.

So does this fanbase hate tepper so much that they'd cut their nose off to spite their face and keep Bryce in at QB because Tepper told Canales to Bench him? I don't care who made the call, it's the right call.

6 this year is generous. We'll see how much better Dalton is, but 4 is the max of where I'd put us right now.

The Brisket, Dalton and Lock are at the top of my list of those available that can be Bridge QBs for the next one. No warm and fuzzies, just frozen dinner unevenly heated in the microwave vibes all around.

My POV - We are stuck with Morgan and Canales as GM and HC for the time being. They deserve a fair shot even if we aren't thrilled with them as choices. Bryce deserved a fair shot. He got it and looked bad. Let's see how Canales and this team look with moderately competent QB play. If they still suck, then I'll be ready to move on. I really wanted to clean house, top to bottom last offseason, scouting department included. Fresh start all around. We didn't get it. Hell, Morgan was on the interview panel for potential GM candidates. I literally can't even'd when I saw that. Canales wasn't on anyone's radar but our own because he's buddies with Morgan. There were other HCs I wanted more, but here we are. We are the new laughing stock of the league to where people aren't even making fun of us, they just feel sorry for us. We are mid 2000s Browns and Lions levels of pitiful right now.

I'm all aboard the roll with a vet and draft a QB to sit and learn until he's ready. Ease him into things. If Dalton ends up showing out or even being a league average QB, extend him, then look to the draft for his replacement. Doesn't need to be round 1, and if it is, it's fine to trade back, recoup some draft capital, then pick the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the first round. I really don't have faith they'll do the right or smart thing, but we'll see.

The play calls have been fine. Canales can't throw the ball to wide open Thielen and Johnson himself. Canales wasn't taking sacks after scrambling for 5 seconds taking the team out of FG range without throwing it away. Canales wasn't air mailing swing passes out of the backfield. Canales didn't miss open receivers that were 15 yards or more downfield all this and last season. Canales didn't throw for 80 yards on 26 passes. I've been on the wait and see train all offseason - Wanted to give Bryce a fair shot. The line allowed the fewest pressures in the NFL Sunday. The receivers were getting and schemed open. Chuba was averaging 6 yards per carry. He got his fair shot. He looked terrible. The benching was both warranted and needed. This is not a Canales endorsement. I have no idea if Canales is a good head coach or not. But I do know Bryce played some of the worst Football I have ever seen on Sunday.

If you have confidence in yourself, you aren't saying that.

I was willing to give Bryce the first month before I finally threw in the towel. Especially after getting new receivers and a new line and a new cohesive scheme where guys were actually getting open. I was willing to hold onto some semblance of hope. I turned the game off in the first quarter. Bryce is absolutely terrible and we wasted so much talent and draft capital to get him. I'm out. I'm done. I resign my position of resident "Wait and see and give him a chance" guy.

Pretty sure that will change when more of the dummy years in other contracts Fitt put together hit. Thielen, Sanders, etc. had dummy years that might affect those dead cap numbers. Not positive though. Either way, Fitterer was the absolute worst.
