Bill Barnwell defends Bryce's benching with some horrific stats
Manna replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's even worse when you attach numbers to what we've seen for 18 games. For folks who factor in analytics and stuff...the analytics say that benching Bryce is the right move. -
RUMOR: Bryce Young 'pissed' at being benched for Andy Dalton
Manna replied to FutureDynasty's topic in Carolina Panthers
Those are two Andy's I don't know or am familiar with. -
RUMOR: Bryce Young 'pissed' at being benched for Andy Dalton
Manna replied to FutureDynasty's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have confidence in every Andy I know: Andy Reid, Andy Dalton, Andy Barclay, Toy Story Andy. -
This is Canales holding people accountable and it don’t matter if the team traded many assets to get you.

Potential Trade Package for Bryce Young

Still early to accurately evaluate Dan because the offense has been hindered by Bryce. Because the offense has been trash it has a direct impact on the defense. I’ll reserve judgment until later. Dan deserves more than 2 games.

RUMOR: Bryce Young 'pissed' at being benched for Andy Dalton
Manna replied to FutureDynasty's topic in Carolina Panthers
If true, it’s the most emotion he’s shown since he’s been here. Well, I take it back. That last interception he threw he sure showed a lot of emotion there as well. -
Albert Breer in SI: Benching Bryce Young Was Not a Rash Decision

Bryce should've reframed it to seeing Casper instead because he's a friendly ghost. -
The Bryce situation reminds me of Josh Rosen (national media)
Manna replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
all I know is that Bryce couldn't get the ball out in under 2.7 seconds, so he was benched before he played 2.7 games this season. -
Plummer showed more progress in 3 preseason games than I'd say Bryce ever shown throughout 18 games. I was ready to go all in on Bryce following the Green Bay Game, but he followed up that performance with a quick regression to the status quo. I agree that Morgan and Canales went out and addressed the biggest criticisms of Bryce's rookie year, that he had no WR and no O-line. They went out and did exactly that, yet Bryce remained the same and/or regressed from an already regressed state. I feel bad for Bryce the person, but I don't for the football player. I also feel the Dawg mentality Morgan preached was a shot at Bryce as well because, like you said, his nonverbal communication conveyed that he was there just to be there.

The most Panther thing to happen would be that Dalton gets injured during the game against the Raiders and Bryce has to come back in =/
-
I think Canales also said yesterday in his presser that he wanted guys who loved football. I didn't know until yesterday that Bryce spent his offseason playing games and watching Netflix, and distancing himself from all-things football. That is a huge indicator of where his heart is.

When he was hired, Canales said he was excited to work with a number one overall pick. Maybe he forgot that Baker was #1 overall as well? But it sounded more like he was excited to work with Bryce. Once OTAs started he said that being new he wasn't emotionally tied to anyone and that he can make objective decisions. During camp Morgan (and maybe Canales as well) stated that this was a big man's game when talking about the team. Around the time of the second preseason game, Canales stated that he was hoping Dalton would be ready to play so that they can properly evaluate the guys. I think knowing that Bryce did not have the tools to succeed in his offense or NFL is what led to him not playing Bryce and "hiding" him until the third preseason game. The guy has an outside perspective on Bryce as an opponent. Then he gets to know Bryce as coach and QB. Somewhere along the way he realized that what he saw on tape and what he saw on the practice field day in and day out, that there was no progression, that Bryce had hit his ceiling. Like many of us fans, Canales wasn't basing his decision to bench Bryce off a 2-game performance. This was based on 18 games. Bryce may have the durability to take hits but his height matters. He didn't regress nor did he lose his confidence. We've seen the same Bryce since September 10th, 2023.

Dianna Russini/Chase Daniel Athletic podcast with Joe Person
Manna replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’d like to believe that it was Canales’ decision but all last year Reich was saying the same thing too once things started changing. Time will tell if Tepper is still meddling. -
David Tepper's failure is now complete. - Darth Vader voice.

With Young off the field anything is possible. I hope Dalton doesn’t get injured again because I don’t want to see Bryce play another down for the Panthers.
-
I don't, but I'm glad he had it. It's painfully obvious to us as fans that Bryce is terrible and I'm sure it's even more painfully obvious for the players because they practice and play with the guy. You can defend the human being, but the player? nah, get him out of here.
-
Mayfield and Darnold may look better with what we have now on offense. I think it did Darnold good to sit for a year and recompose. He looks good in MN now but that's been consistent with his play: start out good then crash. I hope Tepper has grown awareness into the negative impact of his meddling and will change his ways.

Only works in Madden, rookie mode.

Worse To Watch: Jimmy Clausen Era or Bryce Young Era?
Manna replied to PantherBoy95's topic in Carolina Panthers
Clausen at least attempted deep passes. Cam recently said that after Clausen wanted to charge an extreme amount of money for #2 jersey, Cam made it his mission to make everyone forget about Jimmy Clausen. I hope we can find a QB next year that will make it his mission to make us forget that BY ever existed. -
I think Young needs a sports psychologist…..
Manna replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
People came up with so many irrational defenses for the guy. the positive I take from all this, first two weeks of the season, is that the majority of the media is now seeing that Bryce is terrible. Most of the fandom now has accepted that Bryce is terrible. There’s now more unity than before in terms of acknowledging that Bryce is the Achilles heel. He’s Teddy Bridgewater lite on his best days and everyone wanted him out. -
I think Young needs a sports psychologist…..
Manna replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
He only has confidence in training camp because he knows he can’t get hit. His play only translates to rookie mode on madden, and he can’t hang with all-madden. -
Yeah, what “ball placement specialist” for sure. More like ball placement specialist behind or around the LoS only. His S2 scores have really translated to his onfield success. remember when Stroud said he’s a player and not a test taker?
