  1. Which is an outlier because preseason usually dictates the regular season? Right?
  2. Fuller should be better than Bell. We cut Bell to sign Fuller who had played great with Evero in the past. Luvu walked but we signed Jewell who has had over 100 tackles in 3 of his past 4 years with his best one under Evero at Denver with a career high of 128 tackles and 7 for a loss. Jewell is probably the better fit in Evero’s scheme plus we have a healthy Shaq to play with him. I’d argue both position groups are upgraded on paper..
  3. Oh it's nothing elite, but we played without Horn last year. Gilly playing at 80% is better than any CB2 we have had in a moment. Luvu was fun, but he was out of position in Evero's defense. Jewell is a tackling machine and has had over 100 in 3 of his last 4 with his highest being at Denver with Evero. Pass Rushing and CBs are strong red flags but they also were last year. On paper it's the same or maybe slightly better than last year and Evero had them keeping us in some games. Hell our 2 wins were due to the defense and the kicking game.
  4. Well you have year 2 of the new scheme so several players should be more comfortable. Vs last year DL we added Robinson to play DE giving Brown a solid presence on the other side, plus he is familiar with Evero (I don't like Shy at NT but he was there last year too) LB- Clowney and Wonnum are more complete/probably better than Burns and YGM, Jewell and Shaq are better than Luvu and whatever random guy from the streets we had playing last and again Jewell is familiar with Evero CB- This is a big red flag but vs last year we kept Hill at slot, we lost Henderson and replaced him with Jackson which seems like a wash to me. If we can sign Gilly I will consider this upgraded but as of now it's a weakness and a wash Safety- Fuller replaces Bell as an upgrade who is also familiar with Evero. I think we signed another vet in Scott as depth Depth is still an issue no doubt but it looks slightly better on paper than last year IMO...
  5. Just curious why are you so down on the defense? I think they should be slightly better than last year which was nothing special but not awful. I’m assuming we still sign a vet CB before it’s all said and done…
  6. Where do they have us? 5.5? I think we both agree 6 wins could be a win if our offense looks serviceable.
  7. Kind of… Vegas just plays people against each other to make money. They could care less if it’s right or not. They had Kellen Moore as the highest odds of being our head coach last year and we didn’t even interview him. At one point they had Levis as the highest chance of being our pick for like half a day. The number is usually fluid and changes based on bets made.
  8. Settle down. People use extreme cases to show points. The point is Mills didn’t flash right away and turned out to be a hell of a player. No one is saying they are the same player. Also the person who said Sam flashed right away to show their point a good player will flash potential right away was incorrect in that case. That is all. Everything doesn’t have to be so absolute.
  9. It’s just a simple lesson that sometimes players take a minute to develop. It’s not always the case but it just feeds into the wait and see approach. Also one poster said Mills flashed instantly when that was clearly not the case.
  10. Solid point that will probably get ignored or fall on deaf hears to those that need to hear it…
  11. I don’t think Frank picked his staff last year. I also don’t think they were all on the same page… Yeah the Caldwell thing smells funky.
  12. Just guessing, but I think they are trying to say the staff is all on the same page now. This is DC’s offensive staff that he brought in to run his offense and develop our QB the way he wants. Yes Bryce will deal with multiple people, but they should all be echoing what DC wants. On a conflicting side note, why is Caldwell still employed?
  13. I think Bryce has a little swagger to him when he gets comfortable. Watch some of those Bama games. I saw him doing the “karate kid crane” celebration with Metchie, getting fired up with his WRs etc… There were stories of his locker room speech which none of us saw so who knows. I saw a little (pun intended) glimpse when he did the Cam first down taunt after his run. There are some clips of him and CJ going back and forth on who is the better basketball player. I think on the field he will show some of it if he can get comfortable. The scripted, reserved Bryce is what you see in interviews and press conferences because he has been coached that way most of his life.
  14. Exactly. If we can get at least 3 second contracts out of this class, that’s a big win.
  15. It’s a good listen about when it happened and how he has pushed on. Between him and XL we have some mentally tough rookies.
  16. We needed so much roster help I wasn’t a fan of drafting one unless it was very late.
  17. It’s just a bad scenario. Hopefully that doesn’t happen. What if he plays 2-3 games, looks a lot better, but then gets hurt? I’m glad we invested in the OL in attempt to limit this from happening…
  18. I guess the question would be how much of an asset do you spend on another QB. If we have a top 5 pick and Young is still a question mark from being injured do you spend another top pick on another rookie or use that on another valuable asset? The more film we have a Young the better we can answer that question IMO.
  19. At one point Johnson was told the passing offense will go through him. I’m sure they will move him around but he will typically be read 1 which makes sense. Also I believe his drop issue wasn’t an issue last year.
  20. I agree. We should be able to more accurately evaluate our QB whatever that looks like.
  21. You run that offense and no defense has to worry about the deep ball. It has to be a complete offense with elements he is comfortable with. JT and XL are capable of catching deep passes. Throw in some play action deep shots to them to prevent the defense from stacking the box and making it very crowded for a bunch of shifty route runners.
  22. I'm saying we should have enough pieces that fit that to get a good measurement of if he can work. Johnson is the shifty route runner. I get he doesn't play slot but in DC's offense the WRs are kind of interchangeable at different positions. We drafted Brooks who is the RB who can also catch out of the backfield, we also draft a TE who is known to be a great pass catcher. The there elements you wanted in a Bryce offense are here. XL is (hopefully) going to keep the defense honest, plus should be great at slants (which Bryce was solid at in college) and getting YAC. AT will work another year at the slot because he is still sneaky enough to find soft spots in the zone you Young to find him like last year. It's kind of the best of both worlds IMO. Less excuses should be made for Bryce with the 3 elements you mentioned addressed enough for him to operate, and we also have the pieces for a more traditional offense if Young doesn't work out. It shouldn't be a full strip down rebuild if we draft another QB.
  23. I guess to me if he was never able to handle SOME basic NFL formations we was never going to have a long term career as a starter. I think we traded for Johnson who is one of the better route runners and is great at separation, AT finds soft spots and has some chemistry. XL and JT Sanders seem to excel at adjusting to deep passes which Young having issues there it could actually help him. Throw in the two big OGs which shows they are investing in the interior of the OL which is crucial for a short QB, I'd argue they are not completely ignore Bryce here. To me it looks like an offense he should be able to play in and if not they will find someone who can.
