The Eagles just paid their OG a similar contract. Hunt is the one you are referring to because the other OG was a reasonable contract. Hunt is just a back loaded 3 year deal being incredibly cheap this year. We can walk away after year 3 with no money loss. We should keep trying different OGs like last year though because that worked out GREAT.

It was a similar contract. Luvu WANTED to play for the Commanders because he liked the scheme and wanted to play for Quinn. FREE agents are FREE to sign with other teams, even for less or equal money if they want. He also allows 75% of passes to be completed thrown towards him ranking him 12th worst in the league.

I agree. This year is about giving Young pieces to properly evaluate him. If he still struggles and delivers us the top pick, Sanders (or whoever we pick) will have a better OL and hopefully better playmakers to work with. We are trying to build a competent offense for ANY QB to step in and have a chance to succeed. These big OGs aren't just for Bryce, they are for our running game and any QB we throw back there.

For the record he wanted to keep Luvu. Luvu wanted to play for Quinn because of the pass rushing opportunities in his defense. The Burns deal is just the Sweat deal.

You all realize we need better IOL play regardless who the QB is? If we draft one next year, having an actual pocket will help him develop more than anything else could. It also helps the running game which is a QBs best friend.

Burns wanted $30 million a year. We refused to pay that and traded him to a team that would. It’s pretty simple really.

No one is trading for any of those players.

We are doing 2 things here IMO. 1. clearing out any mid level contracts to older players or players we feel are currently overvalued. 2. putting together enough pieces to properly evaluate Young to decide if he is in our new staff’s future or not. And no these pieces aren’t strictly related to Young’s skillset. They are needed for any QB trying to run a functional offense.

If he does that’s great. He wasn’t doing it here so why would we pay him a HOF player contract?
