Ian Rapoport on Bryce: "Everyone had Bryce Young #1"
ForJimmy replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Regardless SF just traded 3 firsts for the QB3 of a draft a couple years prior. The only thing we would be missing this coming draft would be our 2nd (which we have one now). That makes it easier to move on if needed IMO. You eventually have to take that shot for your guy. Maybe we missed, maybe we didn’t, but if you hit it’s 100% worth it. -

The value they wanted for the top pick wasn’t as crazy as other years because there wasn’t a Burrow/Lawrence/Luck. I guess that’s what I’m trying to say. How we maneuvered it was dumb. Giving up our only weapon and drafting a QB that was an outlier with the pick made it more of a gamble. If I’m the GM and I’m convinced a player is my next franchise QB, two firsts, a player and a second isn’t that crazy to secure him. If we all felt confident Young was our future, we wouldn’t be upset about that trade. -

Even after Ian said she wanted Stroud. They go into full denial mode… -

The trade was for pick 1. Stroud was an option then. The Bears wanted Burns, Brown, or DJ. The trade itself wasn’t a crazy one IMO. We just messed it up by the options we picked for the trade and pick. My point was it was a decent year to make it and a manageable trade. I’m fairly certain when we made it a lot of people on here were happy about the actual trade. -

Ok what if we drafted Stroud at 1 and threw in Burns instead of DJ. Does the trade still suck? The results sucked, but the value of the trade wasn’t that bad IMO. -

I might be in the minority here, but I kind of understand the trade. The demand for QB1/pick 1 in that particular draft wasn't a crazy as others would have been (if they were even for sale). You have to have a QB to compete consistently in this league. DJ included in the trade was an issue, especially after trading Burns for a 2nd a year later. Include Burns instead of DJ and signing a serviceable OLB/Edge in FA would have made more sense. OL regression, no weapons, predictable play calling, Reich checking in and out of play calling duties etc all created a perfect storm last year. Hindsight always helps. -

I preferred Stroud because his arm talent was something you can’t coach. I was concerned with passing Young because he was clutch and annoyingly good in college. Lastly I was intrigued by AR as option 3 because I thought we had a good staff in place to unlock his potential (yeah it hurt typing that last sentence). -

This is only news on here. He was QB1 on most boards (some had Young/Stroud as QB1/QB2) and some people on here want to try to change history to make it appear Tepper forced some reach in us taking him. It doesn't mean he was the right pick or will be the best QB in this class, but it is accurate. Hell the Texans nearly moved up from 2 to get him. -
Bryce Young won't play in preseason opener

When Jack Plummer leads us to a Super Bowl, he'll be expecting your apology.... -
I’m not going to lie. I didn’t realize they get an extra game for that. Seems kind of unfair doesn’t it?

I can argue with DeMeco. He is looking like one hell of a HC.
-
He looked a little streaky and the OL looked shaky. Could be the new offense. Regardless hopefully it gets all up to par before the season starts.
-
If he throws a deep pass the Huddle with have a meltdown no doubt.
-
JT might be my new favorite Panther. Love his skillset and attitude.
-
Probably not the most reliable source for comments. I do like Sanders in this next class though. I’m curious to see how he does with an OL this year.
-
That was a bad throw. I’m good with calling them bad when they are bad good when they are.
-
That’s awesome! What this on Twitter?
-
I’m not sure it would have made a difference. Remember he didn’t want Rosen in Arizona but the GM/owner overruled him. He may have preferred another QB but it wouldn’t matter.
-
I thought Tepper picked Young? Wouldn’t that make the HC irrelevant?
-
Possibly. I don’t know if he would have survived last year or not. We could be in the same spot.
-
Then the stupid flag thrown over his helmet.

Milton tricked Michigan and UT with his practice hype. Got benched for another QB at both schools. Buyer beware he plays much worse. Doesn’t like running, makes bad reads in UT’s wide open offense, overthrows leading to TOs, and has a hard time recovering from mistakes. He was also a 5th/6th year senior I believe. A physically gifted QB no doubt, but it never translated to his game play just like many other great athletes.

Thats probably the best idea. Of Corbett works out then great. If not we have a player than can step in and be serviceable.
