  1. Then I'd say he's pretty far from clear and would be unlikely to sign with anyone.
  2. The Shaq pick also likely bolstered MLB depth, as it lets AJ move back to his more natural position. With Glanton and whomever else competing for OLB backup and Trusnik an ST ace and run-stopping backup as well, the LB situation has improved more than just the addition of Shaq.
  3. "Can't coach physics and Newton's first law" or something like that... Gettleman wants people who know how to stop things in motion and quickly move from a stop.
  4. Boykin's up there at 6'2" as well, though obviously without the draft status.
  5. If this isn't a sign of commitment to Can, I don't know what is. Other than a contract extension of course.
  6. Agree with pretty much everything except for your comment about the dime - Luke and TD never leave the field. Carolina doesn't play a dime defense, so Shaq's selection negates a large part ofmthe need for a nickel back, letting Carolina essentially roll with 3 corners and, because of Colin Jones' nickel experience last year, 4 or 5 safeties on their roster if they choose. The flexibility that this guy offers is insane, and it frees a roster spot for an 'ST ace' or someone else they don't want to lose, or even another speed receiver who only plays on passing downs and doesn't play ST. It will be very interesting to see if he plays ST or not given his assumed immediate value to the defense. If he can truly step in and quickly perform in this role, the roster flexibility will be tremendous. Only question would be if the staff is creative enough to truly make use of it.
  7. They may have already checked that box with their HC hire.
  8. Has there ever been another division with this many top-of-the-draft QBs? Kameos and Cam at first overall and Matty and third overall.
  9. Dang east coasters think the entire world is on EDT.
  10. I get the BPA argument, but I have a hard time thinking they'd put a premium on someone who they project as a guard unless everyone else graded above them was off the board.
  11. If not better, at least there are no questions about his desire and chemistry in the locker room. Not a small consideration.
  12. The ship sank in Titanic.
  13. Hicks was alive at the end of Aliens, the only surviving Marine. Acid-burned, but still alive. The character was killed off at the start of Alien 3.
  14. Yep, at the very beginning of the movie - took a steel beam through the chest during a crash landing. Interestingly, Michael Biehn (actor who played Hicks) got paid more for them just using his likeness for Hicks' dead body in Alien 3 than he got paid for co-starring in Aliens.
  15. Great minds and all that.
