  1. Yep, everyone knows the Bucs are on the verge of a rebuild. One extra win this week won't stop that. However, we know how grating on the nerves Cowgirl fans can be. Definitely don't want to see or hear this ^^^^^.

With six hours to go, the top two WRs still have not declared. If this holds, I am back to Mayer as my top guy. I want neither AR nor the #3 WR as the default #1 wideout due to draft non-declarations at #9. I will take a slight trade back to maximize the value for Mayer, but still will nab him at #9 if things hold as is.
  3. I have always hated the Cowgirls, so I have to go with the Bucs. Also, the Bucs weren't in the old NFC West either. A new(er) rival of the three divisional foes, therefore, the one I hate the least.
  4. Yup, he had one foot already out the door and the main grudge I hold against Fox. It's like an employee refusing to do anything productive on their last day of work. Ok, Richardson didn't extend his contract, but at least put your best product on the field! The only good thing about him quitting on the 2010 squad was we were able draft Cam in 2011.
  5. Sure, I get that and know that, but we would never know what would have happened regarding drafting a QB high because Jake turned out to be a hidden gem of a FA. Jake was much more than just a game manager. If that were the case and that's all he was, I could have seen Fox taking a stab on a QB early in the draft. Again, Jake worked out so well (up to the Tommy John surgery) that developing a rookie QB wasn't necessary.
  6. Eh, I'm not sure he didn't believe in them as much as the time it takes to develop them. If the scenario was right where he could have got one early on in 2002 or 2003, it may have worked. Once he struck gold with Delhomme, drafting a franchise QB was all but an afterthought.
  7. The laughable and honestly sad part is when this list comes around every year (sorry OP, it's not a unique thread) is until Rhule, Siefert was unanimously at the bottom. At least ol' Geroge got us a .500 season. For his sake, at least he's never going to be seen as the Panther worst HC of all time anymore.
  8. 1) Fox 2) Rivera 3) Capers Fox never got to draft a franchise QB (Clausen in the lame duck year doesn't count). He was the most consistent winner though. The only reason I slightly hesitated with him is how he quit on this organization. Rivera had the best nucleus of of young talented players and still couldn't get us over the top or even make us consistent winners. He SHOULD be #1, but couldn't maximize the most talented rosters we've ever had. Capers was able to cobble together a bunch of aging cast-offs and make them winners in a short time, but wasn't able to see that he needed to flip the roster to a younger one in time to save his job.
  9. The guy can chase a Natty and get paid via NIL and STILL get the $10M-$30M in the 2024 draft. That's the dynamic NIL has brought about. Not to mention the sponsorships like cars, clothing etc... It really brings the BMOC meaning to full fruition. I"m sure Stroud is not thinking somehow he's dropping to a 2nd rounder--or lower, just because he stays in school. He probably will declare today, but I wouldn't be shocked one bit if he stayed. Personally, I hope he does. I want no part of this QB class--more precisely, what will be available to us when we pick. Stroud staying means Levis will be gone and *hopefully* AR too by pick #9.
  10. Literally all but one other guy of the draft eligible OSU players in the top 250 prospects have declared. Did you mean just the top guy?
  11. I wonder what the time deadline is tomorrow? There's about 10 top 100 prospects yet to declare according to one site. QB- Stroud WR- Addison, Johnston IOL- Van Pran Edge- Smith DB- Smith, Newton LB- Campbell TE- LaPorta RB- Charbonnet -I've mocked Campbell a TON, so that would suck if he stayed.
  12. Remember Brown was a bust last year? No? I bet the Huddlers saying that won't remember saying it either.

Sorry, mid first round. Point being, we are pick #9, so as to value, he would be a bit of a reach.
  14. I remember last coaching cycle there were a ton of hot new names floated around and Doug Pederson (SB winning coach) was an afterthought. I personally thought it was strange. But hey, always chase the new hot name, right? The same reason I think people are sleeping on Frank Reich. I put him in Pederson's situation this year. Yeah, he's getting some luke warm interest like Pederson, but everyone is looking for the next Payton (back in the day) and McVay.
  15. The 49ers won't move on from Lance this coming year. They have seen enough our of Purdy they finally cut the apron strings on Jimmy G and roll with those two. However, if Lance can't stay healthy next season or doesn't produce, then he could potentially be considered a bust. Sitting behind an successful incumbent QB in year 1 as a "growth year" and and getting hurt early on in year 2 doesn't necessarily mean he's a bust. Year three will be super important to the rest of his career though.
  16. Here's why Stroud stays, OSU was this close to beating Georgia knows they would have walked over TCU. Secondly, He's got about a 50/50 shot of being a Texan if he does declare--does not want. Thirdly, he's probably top 3 hottest names in college football next year and the NIL money will be stupid. Lastly, Stroud is probably betting he'll still be a top 5 draft pick next year and while not going #1 overall (see Chicago/Texans hot mess) that's not necessarily a bad thing. The money isn't drastically different and won't spend the majority of his first contract trying to navigate a train wreck. It's not a stretch that Stroud has seen what has happened to former alum Justin Fields or even perhaps talked to him about this.

With less than 48 hours to go, a site I use states that Johnston and Addison are both still undeclared. That's the top two guys in this draft class! Jaxson Smith-Njiba would be the top guy in the class. Sites I visit have him mid-to-late round now.
  18. And eventually you have to clear the books. The Saints have to do monetary gymnastics every offseason to get a few good FAs. Once their GM/ financial guys are eventually let go, the people replacing them will have a hell of a time getting their cap back into order.
  19. Example #1. This was just for an average DT. So yes, they are already doing this and for JAG players, not even impact players. Matt Ioannidis Look at the money we are paying this guy years later just to make the numbers work for a year.
  20. It's a shell game to an extent. Eventually you have to pay the piper. The Saints are figuring that out and the reason I think, in part, why McVay is stepping away from the Rams. The "burn out" excuse is a straw man. The Rams had about a 3-year window to make a run, they did it in year one, it imploded this year and the wheels h ve already fallen off for next year. After that, it's a full-blown rebuild. McVay has no intentions of sticking around for that, just like once Brees retired, Payton wasn't sticking around for the aftermath of the Saints forcing their championship window to stay open longer.
  21. I get all that, but I think a lot of you are forgetting our cap situation this year. There is no "shopping spree" in FA this year. The last thing we want to do is start kicking the can down the road a la the Saints. Trade back this year, get most of our needs in the draft and next year when our cap should be (if we don't screw it up this offseason) in great shape, then go out and grab the few key pieces the team needs.
  22. Normally I would agree, but remember, we are extremely cap poor this year and the last thing we need to do...ESPECIALLY with a new staff and club not contending is go out and blow a lot of money we don't have.
  23. I'm great with that and in a slight trade back too. We need more picks. As much as I like Mayer, #9 is a little high for him in terms of value.
  24. Yeah, about that. I know they will toy with the numbers some, but re-signing Bozeman, probably Sam, Eddy, Foreman and a few other role players to keep in house is going to leave us with very little for outside FAs. Remember we have only about $1M in cap and (-$14M) in effective cap.
  25. Good approach, but we don't have 11 picks every draft to re-draft every position. At some point the evaluators have to hit their mark. We don't have enough picks THIS draft to fill all the holes we have, let alone re-draft for current positions where there isn't a hole.
