  1. Ever since quality Olinemen that could contend with the athletic freaks on modern Dlines started getting rarer and rarer, this has become more and more true, and I believe it means that to the extent teams are smart about NOT dumping money into less critical position groups like LB and RB, or overspending for unproven commodities at high paid positions like QB, the more they will be able to keep solid Olines together. But I agree that it seems like some churn is almost inevitable given cap realities vs cost of quality OL.
  2. Welcome to the internet and abandon all expectations of understanding subjective vs objective, or appropriate use therof.
  3. Our D's rank since Wilks took over: Most Improved™
  4. Is it just me, or do the pro athletes in general seem significantly more media savy and well spoken on average than back in the 90's, 80's etc? I remember when I was a kid, the dumb jock of limited vocabulary seemed the norm, with witty guys like Charles Barkley standing out. These days it seems like most players if not the soul of wit are at least able to share their thoughts intelligently and come across as increasingly engaging and relatable. I can see various factors contributing to this, but the bottom line for me is that interviews like this are more worth the watch than they used to be.
  5. Fhule is way too fat to "slide" off anyone's back.
  6. You had me at media picking us. That's usually where we crash and burn as a franchise for some reason.
  7. You mean the underdog? These gentlemen are definitely underdog QB stories. Who doesn't love an underdog, or did you just spit on Rudy's grave? Blasphemer! *Gets a pitchfork* Down with the heretic! Kidding aside I will agree that some folks get themselves all worked up about underdogs when there's a long history of guys like this flashing and then ultimately getting figured out by NFL level defenses. Personally I think it's perfectly fine to pull for guys like this, show them some love, etc., but hold off on demanding trades for them or declaring them our franchise QB (looks at Snake and Kyle Allen) until they've shown they can do it for more than a handful of games.
  8. Whereupon we will sign one of the literally hundreds of players capable of getting 4 to 5 ypc behind a solid offensive line and save our cap space to pay guys like Horn and Burns, who's skill sets are far rarer and matter far more to winning. Oh and that Oline. You pay your Oline if they're good and then you can plug in Kermit the Frog at RB and do just fine. I like D'onta Freeman. I liked CMC. You don't pay running backs in the modern NFL if you want to win.
  9. No RB's in the modern NFL should be given long term deals. Name one that has been worth it or stayed healthy deep into a second contract.
  10. Good stuff. Loved the acquisition at the time (brother in law is a Ravens fan and said he was awesome), hated Elf started ahead of him, thrilled he's a catlyst on offense now, but this video just made me like the dude even more on a personal level. Thanks for posting, great vid! Mic'ed up always good.
  11. Oh for sure it's been interesting, but I think I could live with a boring season of watching a competent QB just repeatedly throw the ball to receivers for first downs and touchdowns. However dull it might be to not watch our passer continuously wear the expression in the pocket of a golden retriever trying to understand organic chemistry, I can live with it. To see other team's QB's not be able to pull out their phone and listen to all of Hey Jude, then put the phone away and throw a completion if Burns is double teamed and can't get there would also be the sort of sacrifice to tedium I'd be willing to make. The monotony of win after win and consecutive playoff appearances I am also willing to endure. I will bear that cross. I am that martyr.
  12. You forgot three, he's human scum and no fan with even the basics of a conscience should want anything to do with him.
  13. You're making that up. That's not a real person. At least as fake a name as Jim Bob Cooter.
  14. The problem I see with Reich is this: The lesson of the Pittsburgh Steelers as the franchise with the most Lombardis is that head coach longevity is rarely done in the NFL, but is probably a good idea if your HC is at least competent. Given his age, it seems unlikely Reich would reach the kind of tenure that Steelers HC's have enjoyed. I would prefer someone younger.
  15. "Sam, we think you've proven you might possibly be our veteran backup QB. Here's backup QB money, go be great in the meeting room and let's all hope our bright shiny first round pick doesn't get injured." This is the only scenario that comes to mind, and I'm not even 100% on it.
  16. I'm not sure I agree yet that Wilkes deserves the job, but this is a well written post that makes me think about things in a new light. Well put, sir.
  17. You guys realize Darnold just won that game throwing for a grand total of 24 attempts, several of those were throw the ball away downs, and you could count the number of times he even attempted to throw farther than say 10 yards on one hand, right? Everyone take a deep breathe, focus, and try to wrap your head around the fact the only thing this game told us about Darnold is that if he's asked to throw very few times on very short routes with a very effective run game, he seems capable of not turning it over. With a one game sample size against a bad defense. That is all.
  18. Bellicheat's record when his teams have the QB widely regarded as the GOAT: Wins a ton. Bellicheat's record when his teams are NOT QB'ed by Brady: 78-83 It has become pretty obvious the past couple seasons that it's very easy to LOOK like a great coach when you have the best QB in football for 20 years. That is not the same as BEING the best coach in football history. Don Shula and Chuck Knoll would like a word with you.
  19. Ooo, the part of me that knows how much free time he's had to hunt and fish the past couple of years says you might be right. The part of me who knows how competitive a guy like Kuechly has to be hopes he'll realize the fish will never counter his gameplan and come back to the game as a coach to scratch that itch.
  20. Because no one has invented laser measuring devices yet. Certainly not just like the ones used daily in construction and other fields. It's all part of the show.
