  1. Offensive line is a bit of a different animal because they don't add much "value" as they get to the higher rankings of their position. I call it the "point of competence." For simplicity let's say the point of being competent is 5 out of 10. If you have a guy below 5 it could almost single handedly cripple an offense. The negative effect of being below the point of competence is noteworthy. Where offensive line is different is that once you get above the point of competence, you really don't gain all that much. Your offense isn't going to change drastically if you upgrade from a 7 to a 9 at LT (for instance). If you are going to improve an offensive line position, your money is MUCH better spent upgrading a 4 to a 6 than a 7 to a 9. In the end an offensive lineman is only blocking 1 guy, with the possibility of chipping 1 additional guy. And the defense largely gets to dictate who that guy is. And once you've gotten to the point of competence across the board on the offensive line, move on to other spots on the team were upgrades mean more to overall performance. I will never forget that there was a moment in time where one team had what was considered the best LT in the NFL, what was considered the best C in the NFL and what was considered the best RT in the NFL all at the same time. That team was the Cleveland Browns and they were terrible.
  2. Madden has absolutely ruined people's brains on how the draft and player development actually work.
  3. Teddy's problem is bigger than throwing touchdowns in the 4th quarter. Teddy's problem is throwing touchdowns, period.
  4. Actual footage of Rhule answering the question:
  5. The chances of it being a serious drama are slim to none. Its going to be an Adam Sandler film with Happy Madison productions. The movie is going to focus on Payton's 1 year suspension from football where he was coaching 6th graders. So I bet its either going to be a flat out comedy or at most as "serious" as The Longest Yard. Which is why Kevin James was the choice and not someone else.
  6. Lions fans ranking at the bottom of drunkenness is another question mark to me.
  7. According to you...absolutely. They need to have an asterisk. In fact any college kid who didn't perform against NFL teams should have an asterisk. Weird.
  8. Wilson has made those kind of throws in games. Have you even bothered to watch the tape?
  9. Fields hadn't had his pro day, I agree. But maybe Fields pro day didn't really matter because Kyle has some hands on experience with Fields (when Fields was younger) and the tape speaks for itself. So imagine a scenario where they know Lawrence and Fields are QBs they would want to draft. With that in mind, picture the timing of the trade announcement. It was basically during Wilson's dazzling pro day. If you allow yourself to run with the theory that they already knew they would be okay with Fields...it was like the Wilson pro day convinced them that they would be okay with Wilson at #3 or that Wilson would go at #2 and Fields would be there at #3 so they pulled the trigger. They couldn't lose. I think if the Mac Jones rumors are real, it will be purely coincidental. If you recall, those rumors came out literally the moment the trade went thru. The only people that would know for sure if they had a definitive target would be Kyle and Lynch, and they were at Wilson's pro day. So you are telling me Lynch pulled the trigger on the trade and then immediately called some buddies and told them it was for Mac Jones? I'm not buying it.
  10. The narrative on Mac Jones vs Fields is kind of funny to me as well. Mac starts for 1 season and suddenly he's a plug and play starter and the most pro ready guy. Fields has more experience but he's the guy that needs to sit for a few seasons to learn. WTF?
  11. I don't get it either. If Fields turns out to be a good player, alot of people are going to feel stupid for overthinking things so much. As far as the unknown mojo, I agree. Its why the backup QB is the most popular guy in many cities and the next draft pick is always the most anticipated one.
  12. That's not how it typically works. Teams don't trade with the team that wants "their guy." Teams trade in front of the team that wants their guy. If people think we want their guy, that increases the value of the Lions pick...not ours. Denver would be moving into our spot to block another team from trading into that spot.
  13. I agree, Teddy was a case of overpaying for something just to be sure they had something. It was like walking up to one of those carnival games with $2,000. But instead of playing $2,000 worth of games and risking walking away with nothing, we bought the teddy bear from the guy for $2,000. They knew what they were getting and it sure as heck was never going to be worth $2,000...but it was "better than nothing."
  14. I would be okay with a conditional 7th round pick that only becomes due to us if Teddy is league MVP. Anything to get him off of our books.
  15. This is a good way to look at it. He's an upgrade from Teddy and more than likely an upgrade from whomever we would have drafted as well, considering we would have been getting the table scraps after a QB feeding frenzy.
  16. This must have been how Patriots fans felt when they drafted Tom Brady.
  17. In this case I'm not so sure he was actually "bigger" than the other guy. He was just taller. The other guy looks stocky as heck. People often confuse height with size, and it makes some taller guys alot cockier than they should be in certain situations.
  18. That would be hilarious if the Jets traded for Teddy a couple of years after trading Teddy.
  19. So surely this will move to the criminal courts since money ain't a thing.
  20. I think you are conflating some of the other random "accusers" with the main one that got the hearing.
