  1. An extra year to delay paying a player isn't really that great. If they are phenomenal, you might have to or want to come to an extension before they are through their entire rookie deal. If you hit on enough players that you are having trouble deciding which to sign long term, that's a great problem to have. And not one that's going to be solved by a 5th year option. If the quality of players is roughly equal between the late 1st and mid 2nd, I'd rather have more chances at picking a good player.
  2. If they don't nail the draft, Bryce isn't going to have anyone to throw to.
  3. Why do we need to rebuild if we already have our franchise QB? lol
  4. Am I the only one that can't believe JJ McCarthy is being sold as a high end QB prospect? I watched a fair amount of his Michigan games, and I did not see a pro QB.
  5. I don't know if I'd go that far. Its possible he blows up, but he's more realistically a replacement level edge player.
  6. I don't think I've seen a player acquisition posted with a high RAS score that turned out well for us.
  7. Good for Fields but this seems like PR put out by the team. They probably got offered a better 6th by a team he preferred not to be traded to. If a Darnold package was on the table you know they wouldn't have turned it down.
  8. Look I really hope that Dan Morgan works out as GM. I hope that the moves that were made are good, and I hope our draft goes well. But here's the thing with this comparison with Fitterer. Lets look at the Burns trade. I don't know if its confirmed, but the rumor is that Morgan was in support of Fitterer's decision to turn down the Rams offer. You know the reason for that? It's because if this team didn't improve, the most likely outcome is Fitterer and Morgan are both getting fired. And neither of those guys is around to use the 1sts that were in 2024 and 2025. So in retrospect, Fitterer made the right call in turning down the trade. Dumping Burns then for those picks wasn't going to help their chances of survival to actually use those picks. There is absolutely no way that Dan Morgan thought he was going to inherit the job after Scott got fired. He had to assume the most likely outcome was both of them being ousted. Now that his clock has reset with his promotion to GM, he's willing to move Burns for picks. What I'm getting at here is the real difference between Fitterer and Morgan so far is their timeline. When Fitterer joined the team the plan (seemingly from ownership) was to win immediately with mediocre to bad QBs from Free Agency or trades. When that didn't work, they decided to throw everything at drafting Bryce young. And now here we are, and maybe ownership has learned that we need to actually build the team and stop taking shortcuts. And Morgan is in a position to benefit from that. Fitterer was garbage, but its way too early to tell if Morgan will be any better at building a roster.
  9. The real question is taking 2 WRs in the 2nd round a good idea?
  10. Well and not just that. Its potentially disgruntled Burns playing on the franchise tag for this cellar dweller team. I don't think he reaches his potential in that situation, and it makes more sense to replace him with someone new who's cheaper and temporary.
  11. the pacific northwest is a beautiful region
  12. I would put them in two different tiers, although they are functionally the same. Dog poo and slightly better than dog poo.
  13. He sucks but come on. He's better than Thomas.
  14. If Pete was still HC I'd say this is a great move for him. Not so sure with the new staff.
  15. Imagine if we had not done the trade, and we instead decided to start Matt Corral last season. And let's say he hypothetically has the same supporting cast, and performed exactly the same as Bryce. In that scenario, there is no way we aren't taking a QB with the #1 overall pick. The only reason that Bryce is getting year 2 is because that's the only real option. He isn't replaceable until at least the next draft.
  16. Granted he could fall off a cliff in the blink of an eye at 37, but he put up a 80 grade on PFF overall last year. He's a monster of a man and for the right deal I'd love to have him on our team to finish his career.
  17. I'll take one 37 year old Calais Campbell please.
  18. Drafting 2 WRs in this draft and missing on both would be the most Panthers thing ever.
