That's a genuine question - our WR corps right now sucks and the FA market isn't much better.
-
You've pretty much stated why I didn't want to trade up to #1. I don't think there's a clear-cut franchise QB in this Draft. You're as likely to hit on Richardson as you are Young or Stroud - they all have flaws.
-
Young doesn't play at 204lbs. No NFL team is fooled by that showing at the Combine.

Article from 2021, but: "Over the last 10 years, Alabama has signed the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class eight times, according to 247Sports. The other two years, Georgia landed the No. 1 class." It doesn't get more stacked than that.

I think you've pretty much covered the points - he's clearly the best QB in this Draft. It's whether you're willing to risk selecting him knowing that his size makes him a huge outlier to succeed in the NFL. (I can only imagine the questions you'd have to field if / when he got hurt) If you're looking beyond his size my only other real nit-pick is that he has a 'good enough' arm, but by no means is it elite.

Which of these FA WRs would you want to go after?

Whoever comes on a team friendly deal. It's a very poor WR FA market - we don't need to get suckered into paying those guys like they're quality starters. -
Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced

In one season we've traded away our two standout offensive players. It's certainly an... interesting way to build a roster. -
In a traditional 3-4 the LBs are bigger than in a traditional 4-3 - and our previous coaching staff didn't think Chinn was big enough to play LB. I've no idea where he fits into this system - he's even more of a tweener on paper, but I'm sure the new DC will adapt his system to the talent he has.

Young is the best QB in this Draft, not the best player. That said, he's just too small to risk the #1 overall pick on. Pretty much every ex-NFL player in the media that's met him has commented on how small he is in person. The NFL is the land of the giants - I just can't see him staying healthy for a full season. His height is an issue for me, because he won't be able to see the middle of the field well, but Murray and Wilson have proven you can play QB at 5'10" in the NFL - it's simply the small frame / weight that scares me about Young.
-
He's a serviceable pro, but not as good as many that proceeded him - Kuechly, Davis, Beason, Morgan, Witherspoon. How he's stuck around so long is beyond me.
-
I would have let him walk, but then I wouldn't have traded up for the #1 overall so I'm clearly on a different page to Fitterer.

Joe Person: Sense around the league is they’re going up for CJ Stroud
OldhamA replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
The SEC isn't the NFL. -
Why would you give $16m to that nutcase?
-
I was giving you the benefit of the doubt - apologies. My argument is that his height will limit his ability to see the middle of the field and his weight (especially his small frame) means he's an extreme risk to get injured as most players in the front 7 outweigh him by 50lbs.
-
I mean they have to completely rebuild the WR, TE and RB rooms if nothing else.
-
Very annoying that they did a Brock Purdy breakdown over an Anthony Richardson one. Could literally make or break the channel imo.
-
Durant plays a non-contact sport.
-
Nah, Richardson has a significantly stronger arm.
-
Brees has 2 inches on Young.
-
He lost that game, right?
-
It's the opposite - Chicago dictated the terms of this deal and, quite frankly, got everything they wanted. They wanted DJ Moore so they didn't have to go after a WR in FA (a very poor FA market btw). As for him 'not being that valuable' he'd had 3 1,000 yard seasons with poor-middling QBs throwing him the football. I don't think he's elite, but he's a very, very good WR1 and those are hard to find.

Who among us actually believes we'll draft Levis
OldhamA replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know why you don't take that gamble at this point. The ceilings of Young and Stroud are limited. Push all your chips into the middle of the table. -
So... Common Sense Says We're Drafting Stroud... Right????

At 9, sure roll the dice, if he dies you go again next year. At #1 after giving up so much - oh lord.
