#3 and #4 combined with the fact no matter how you feel about Bryce, we aren't going to get a better qb this offseason, makes it so obvious that we have got to start focusing on some quick shifty wrs that can run the full route tree. I don't know why we absolutely refuse to acknowledge it and just continue to take big receivers who run fast 40s over and over.

Agreed. He's been one of the best players on the team since the benching. All the people who are determined to be right about him being bad will quote record or stats but if you watch the tape and see the windows he's hitting and how he's anticipating them, they would see while not perfect, he's doing a lot with a little.
-
Nailed it. He is nowhere near being on the list of why we lose. He is more confident, he's making plays in structure and out of structure, he's stepping up in the pocket when he needs to, he's running when he needs to, he's creating and improvising with a bottom tier receiving core. Has he been perfect? Of course not, does he pass the eye test? Definitely. He has been one of the best players on the field on either team in our last few games. Everyone that is determined to win the argument that he's bad are going to stand on the box score but if you watch the all 22 he has missed a few plays, but he has a lot more plays where he has made something out of nothing. He's not missing much out there folks. The biggest reason the passing numbers aren't bigger is because we are running a lot and if there is no receiver open to throw to then you're still counting that as a negative to Young if you're only looking at stats, and don't even get me started on the drops.

I love drafting raw prospects, they just have to have elite traits, not just a 40 time, and they have to be young, not a 5 year college project. That is crazy.

Our receivers are XL, 60 year old thielen, and ungraded rookie, and a rookie te who has shown flashes but has a lot to learn. We have also really focused on the run game to try to run games out so the other team has less possessions because our defense is bad even though it has looked better lately. Stop focusing on stats and use your eyes. Bryce is playing a totally different type of football since he came back from the benching. You can say you're not sure he will be a franchise qb right now sure, but he has been the best player on our team the past few weeks and no matter how pessimistic you want to be, he's not even on the list of reasons we are losing.

Or Ladd. Would free us to take Tmac this draft and have a great duo of young receivers that compliment each other, but instead you basically can't put tmac and legette together.
-
I hope you're right but I'm not as confident. If he was a young inexperienced player, I would agree but after 5 years of playing in college it's hard to expect players to make major changes in my opinion.

I don't think they are really crapping on brooks as a personal thing. Its the fact that he was a luxury pick when we had holes everywhere. It's the fact that good running backs are regularly found on day 3. It's the fact he was coming off a pretty big injury and wasn't going to be available, and last of all it's the fact that it makes us nervous that getting earlier draft picks may not benefit us because Morgan may pick the wrong players again anyways. All that adds up to a lot of angst. I don't think anyone is mad at Brooks or happy he got hurt. In the end the anger has nothing to do with him really.

Yea i just will never understand the combination of chasing players who are both older and projects. You take one or the other, if they are both then that should be an immediate red flag.

XL is 3 or 4 years older than Moss was when he was drafted.
-
They were a drop away from winning today against a top 5 team in the NFL soo...
-
It's not based on box score, I will tell you that.
-
Now do receivers

Tmac and xl is a terrible combo. If we had taken Ladd at the draft last year like some of us wanted, then sure. Tmac and XL would give us the least shifty, least burst wr tandem in the league.

I tend to agree unfortunately when the issue is body catching.
-
They were breaking the huddle with 18-20 seconds left in the play clock. That's enough time.
-
Who called that one a drop? You may have got confused because they were talking about the handful of actual drops he had. Xl body catches and is weak at the point of attack so it makes sense that he got laid out in that situation. Go get it and grab it instead of letting it get to your gut first and you don't get laid out nearly as bad.

I get being hesitant, or not declaring anything, but to bash him based on game stats shows a lack of football knowledge. Especially when you compare it to qb stats pretty much league wide this season.
-
So many people stat sheet watching instead of game watching.
-
Watch the tape. Stop crying about stats. Watch any of the tape over the past few weeks. His numbers are fine, the tape is great for the most part. It's ok to say you didn't like him. After week 2 I wanted to cut him and never wanted Darnold to go out. Since the benching, if you watch the tape he's doing the absolute most with what he's got. Give him an actual #1 wr and his numbers would be great too.
-
I don't want to overpay Higgins, he's a #2 at best too but I definitely agree with the first half. We drafted an old wr based on his size when that's all pointless because he doesn't play physical at point of attack and body catches. I said it as soon as we drafted him. Hopefully he figures it out.

limited route tree and a big wr drafted because of his size that body catches.

Current Draft Position & Potential Prospects

I'm aware of how you feel about him and how you are going to interpret any metric.
