I wasn't a fan of XL when we drafted him. The problem as far as if they're both good then trade one is im not sure either can look good paired up as the #1 and #2 wr. They don't compliment each other at all and have basically the same strengths and weaknesses albeit Tmac is a better prospect. A lot of my opinion is based on my preferences and wanting to prioritizing route running, short area quickness and body control, and watching us instead draft big guys who don't run shuttles or cones and have a fast 40 for literally years in a row.
-
That is only true if you're sure XL isn't going to get good and you're sure TMac will be good.
-
Everyone knows how you feel about Tmac. Not everyone is as high on him as you are. I definitely see some positive things but I have a lot of concerns as well.
-
Exactly. If we had taken Ladd last year then TMac would be alright, but the fact that we have taken big physical receivers without a lot of quickness or change of direction for like 3 years in a row hurts that. XL and a Tmac is a seriously flawed pair of receivers as far as how they fit together.

Impact Rookies in Playoffs (Beyond Round 1)
Tr3ach replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was going to forgive taking XL over Ladd if we took Franklin when he fell to the 4th but nope. -
And i imagine these metrics don't even factor in that we have very little talent so these guys were being forced more opportunities out of necessity.

But when Bryce throws for 220 yards in a game and is clearly one of the best players out there, you constantly quote his passing yards... you do realize that's what teams did to us every game right?
-
He's going to get paid somewhere and be offered a starting spot, he's gone.
-
I believe he had a lot of suppossd character concerns if I remember right. I also believe he was seen as more of a true linebacker coming out, maybe even an inside linebacker. Not so much an edge at the time.

Chase Daniels breaks down Bryce carving up the Falcons.
Tr3ach replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
His anticipation is the reason that route running needs to be the #1 factor in choosing receivers. Not height, weight, and 40 time. Thielen has slowed down greatly and he is still our #1 guy because he can run routes and is where Bryce anticipated him to be. Now imagine we had some quick explosive guys who could run those routes precisely instead of just Thielen. -
It definitely needs a lot of love. I have constantly problems on mobile. Way more than any other site I ever visit.

Panthers offensive line was 8th best in the league
Tr3ach replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yea they could give him a 2 year extension or so and save around 12m and let him retire a panther. -
I agree in theory, I will just never care for his scheme, play calling, or adjustments. I will always prefer an aggressive defense over a bend but don't break and Evero will always be bend but don't break style play calling no matter who his personnel is.
-
Dalton played what, 2 games? That's not enough data points to come to your conclusion. Again, your opinion is skewing the metrics. There are metrics for receiver separation in one of those images and the Panthers are clearly below average in separation.
-
Yea one of the biggest reason people think you need to be a big body receiver to play outside is getting off of press but there are plenty of little guys that can get off press. A lot of the best receivers in the league are definitely 6' or less. Prioritizing height and weight with receivers is an old school mentality imo

I agree with everything but the game manager part. The opposing team ran against us constantly which offered less possessions and plays, which has an impact on putting up gaudy stats. If you look at it though Young had some of the most "big time throws" of all qbs last year. That's not a game manager stat. I think if you're not a running qb and you can't throw 75 yards then some fans are going to put you down as a game manager.
-
You are reading this wrong to make it say what you want it to say. You are saying because the qb threw in to a tight window then that means they made the wrong read or there was a wide open receiver somewhere and that isn't in the data at all. That's you making a blank and filling it with your opinion. Our receivers are below average at separation. There is a good chance a tight window could still be the best or only possible throw to make.
-
There are plenty of outside wide receivers in the modern NFL who aren't big body possession type guys.
-
My scores are reversed. I feel like Morgan bombed on the draft. We had some players contribute but it was because the team had no talent. On a decent team none of these guys would have played probably.
-
His scheme is entirely designed around making a decent overall defense with not great players. It's a safe bend but don't break scheme. I think if he had an elite talented defense it would be the same it would just underperform instead of overperforming with bad players. I have no idea you would rebuild a defense getting players to build around that scheme.
-
I just hate his scheme and lack of adjustments
-
The sad thing is it was a drop. Watch it again. It didn't get deflected, it hit him in the hands untouched.
-
On 10 more attempts and an extra possession. With 50% completion percentage. He's looked fine, good and bad. I don't see what (conveniently the Bryce haters) are drooling over. He has made a couple really good throws and a couple bad throws. He's also a year older than Bryce.

I believe they were amused by the coverage. They got their #1 wr 1v1 vs a practice squad cb on back to back plays. Evero really is something.
