Thoughts on Elflein, our O-line, the jets and the aints.
frankw replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Why compare and contrast bottom ranked olines? The Jets still shut us out of their end zone for a whole half and made a game of it at the end. If a rookie who got walloped for 6 sacks can do that what will the better quarterbacks we face on our upcoming schedule do? -
He's been hobbled his whole career why would this year be any different?

Weren't you the guy who lost your marbles over Luke Kuechly in Bills attire? Just move along.

25 per game was good enough for most in the nfl in 2019. Unless the Panthers are blowing a team out or he gets banged up that minimum seems likely to remain. The difference of 5 will depend heavily on our ability to close out games which has been an issue and we nursed a 5 point lead against the worst team in the league as it was this past weekend.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/touches_year_by_year.htm His on pace average is right there if you look up the numbers yourself. He averaged 25 touches per game the last two seasons it stands to reason he will continue to see that minimum moving forward for the time being so yes he could and likely will see between 25 and 30 several more times minimum this season.

We knew about his size and the variables that come with that when we drafted him though. This team is all about analytics but their just now figuring out he might have issues with conditioning? Wild.
-
Support is good but shouting down any and all criticism when the losses are piling up and the team jettisons him bc he can't handle said criticism and throws teammates and the staff under the bus is a different matter.
-
Have the goal posts moved to we drafted Brady Christensen to be a guard all along? Panthers fans are always good for a laugh. The team even put out an inside look video of people in the draft room rejoicing when we took him considering left tackle was our biggest need outside of corner.

The biggest Teddy Bridgewater defender of 2020 calling others sheep. fuging classic.

The key will be getting the Saints offense off the field on third downs and sustaining drives ourselves. They are 8th in third down efficiency while we are 25th. -

Crazy that with all the emphasis on media engagement and how many people they have involved with that they would go with a decision like this. Maybe worry about the product on the field so we're not a doormat in the division before throwing out team traditions like that.

Mike Davis DJ Moore Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel combined for 509 touches last year. If you want Moore Anderson and Terrace or Chuba to get near that kind of yardage that's going to be tough with our best offensive threat in the mix as well. But Joe has to find a way and scheme around this oline they rolled the dice on.

The '21 pass rush is truly a sight to behold. Please do not squander this talent with an inconsistent offense.

Conveniently ignoring leading the league in touches just 2 years ago. We get you see yourself as the president of the Christian McCaffrey fanclub but you are emotionally invested in this and it shows.

I'm glad Sam is off to improvement but that three points in the half sticks out like a sore thumb. Just hoping they improve on that significantly bc less than 20 isn't going to win too many games in this passing league.

Thomas Davis on Good Morning Football + the Tie Debacle is settled!

Unless you're Kelvin Benjamin. -
You said 30 isn't a ton but that's debatable. Averaged over a season it's a record that has stood for 37 years. In 2019 CMC was averaging 25 touches per game which was most in the nfl that season. So yes in this context 30 is very significant. 40 would be unheard of and absolutely absurd.
-
For reference 492 touches in 16 games is the current nfl record which averages out to 30 per game. Do you know how many games that Tampa Bay team won? Six.

The team we are facing this weekend blew the Green Bay Packers off the field with a running game of Alvin Kamara and a 23 year old undrafted running back who had been on their practice squad since 2020. The notion that young guys have to be brought along at a snails pace or can't be trusted early in the season does have some validity but it isn't universal and it isn't an excuse that will get much rope if we have struggles against the Saints.

Three quarterbacks later and you haven't hung up this username yet? It's been two years guy move on.

I hear the folks saying play your best yadda yadda but here's the thing. We got shut out of the end zone for an entire half. If you're going to run your Ferrari like that you better be getting more returns than 19 points. Against the worst team in the league at home to boot.
-
He is on pace for 500 touches which would be most in nfl history a record that has been held by James Wilder since 1984. They just paid one of their top wideouts 37 million dollars. Spread the ball around.

You're taking a moral stand over someone whose family has made billions of dollars exploiting the worst society has to offer to the detriment of the general public and future generations of women. Just stop.
