I think Willis has a better chance of "becoming" elite than Strong. Your guy is the equivalent of J.J Reddick or Adam Morrison being a factor in the NBA. He simply didn't have any elite traits. There isn't anything he really does better than most players in the league. I admire your outside the box picks but come on bro... Willis is that freak athlete that has all the parts in the box that need assembly.. your guy is missing parts and doesn't even come with instructions. Day 1 Willis would be a top 4 rushing threat at the position and you can scheme around that. Open throws that wouldn't be there dictate to the defense how to play you. Strong doesn't have that floor. Day 1 Willis has a top 10 arm. He can threaten any part of the field...Strong doesn't have that. Willis I believe scored the highest wonderlic in this qb class so saying he isn't smart enough or can't process or learn to get better isn't going to hold up here. During the Senior bowl accuracy test Willis hit the mark more times than any of these guys so beting against him based on college offense or coordinators doesn't really hold weight. This is why scouts scout traits instead of going and looking at the box scores and saying hey thus guy completed 70% of his passes he's the number 1 pick. -
I mean penalties and stuff like that can be coached out of a player. A lot of people said the same thing with Horn last season. His aggressive play style the way he likes to get physical and handy might make him a bust in the league because he isn't allowed to play that way in the NFL. That has yet to to be seen but he looks good. Give me a bully that wants to Hurt people any day of the week in a physical contact sport. You have to love what your going out there to do. I want to believe you can coach the bad traits out of them. Physical desire and want...you can't imput that that.

Yeah but if you want a guy to be protected in the pocket and can't move anyway why does him bring 6'4 matter if he isn't suppose to be getting hit? Yeah it would be nice. If you get to build the perfect prospect but sometimes you gotta accept that all those things are luxury items not requirements. Just like how you feel about a qb being mobile. -

And what had Trask done to warrant that.. gotten a offer anyone wanna trade for him has he proven you right? Or is he just a backup? Sometimes a guy is who we thought he was. Not some magical dark horse. -

I'm saying your judging qbs on a outdated scale Russell Wilson found success under 6'0, kyler Murray, drew Brees, vick, whoever the height requirement doesn't really hold water anymore with the way the game is played now. -

Wasn’t you the one who KNEW Trask was the best qb as well? You an anyone who agrees with you clearly are looking for a lesser talented guy who might pan out but probably won't. Guy isn't going in the first 2 rounders. He is will Grier caliber fools gold. You saw some high gody completion percentage(at Nevada of all places) and said this guy is good. Stats do not=surefire nfl translation. Your over here parading colt brennen like talent around and and saying look they did good in college this is why they will be good in the pros. I'm not asking Willis to be a pocket passer. That's what you want. I want my guy to make plays when needed. Fact is there are throws Willis can make that Strong because of his physical limitations can't. Throwing and running. Guy just doesn't have enough special traits. And when that comes up all you are going to say is his completion percentage which could just mean I check down a lot. A good offensive coordinator can manufacture yards and basically make a qb look better than he is. -

The pocket passer... the type of statue can move at all I'm screwed if my reads aren't there sitting duck. Yeah the college ranks don't produce those anymore. -

Lol first off production scoring whatever moved the chains. That's what moves games. Call it chicken running or whatever as long as it goes on the scoreboard is all that matters. What makes your 70% completion any less manufactured than his rushing yards on top of his passing stats? NOTHING. Your just measuring by an outdated system. There is a reason the pocket pass is almost extinct because it makes your more vulnerable if things don't go as planned. Everyone isn't brady... or elite between the ears. You using the exception as the standard and that's why your wrong. Strong isn't looked at as a first round talent because he just lacks the traits. Pickett does the things strong does but is more gifted in that aspect. -

The supporting cast gets better in the NFL as well. You don't get to jackpot the competition and use that as a reason why he will fail and keep him at liberty standards. Coaching and training improves. Regardless, his athletic ability gives him a guaranteed floor none of the other quarterbacks really have while he develops the rest. Just because you completed 70% at Nevada doesn't mean you will do it in the league. The guy doesn't have a lot of elite traits to build apon. Which is why most people don't have him in the first round. -

The Willis isnt accurate rant is overstated. His accuracy isn't that bad VrwYSkA97Bajceze.mp4 -
I really think qb at 6 is a smart move for rhule on the grounds it could extend his contract. Say we draft a tackle and don't make the playoffs... he's gone. If he does the same with a young future star at qb that might be enough for tepper to want to allow him to develop his young signal caller. Not that I don't love the top 3 tackles. I think you need a superstar to win at this level. The qb you select has to have superstar upside to duel with Mahomes now. He is the standard. I don't see that with Pickett.

But who's saying he can't throw? You make it seem like he is just a guy running around without skill and can't read defenses. He at worst has general vicinity accuracy and proved to be more accurate than the others I'm a accuracy competition... not bad for a running back https://twitter.com/ChaseGoodbread/status/1489358463180410884?s=20&t=n04r2Vu-PWpVTBQhcC3o_w

I don't think we should compare Willis to darnold at all. Let's forget that. What I'm saying is quarterbacks who can buy time with their legs like the guys of old you mentioned fran and rodger can create throwing opportunities that might not be there because of coverage. Buy 1 tenth of a second could be the difference between a touchdown and a sack. Qbs who can create havoc with their legs just give the offense more ways to stress a defense. If you had to respect Darnold like you would have to respect Willis do I think it would open up more chances for him to "throw touchdowns" yes. Because the defense can't committ as many guys to coverage. I'm not arguing for a all in running qb like 20 carries a game. I think 7-8 at most is enough to scare defenses. I would prefer my qb be surgical with the football but if we can't find a surgeon give me a butcher who can carve up defenses. My projection on Willis all upside. He's not surgical yet, but he's a butcher day 1.
-
Absolutely not. But it's safe to say based off the speed of the guys who are duel threats, Willis has enough speed to be a threat with his legs? Is he atleast as fast as Newton who broke 70 yarders? As far as rushing qbs go I don't think we have seen a guy with the tools Willis has. He's got a strong lower base and lead the league in broken tackles at the position. He's shorter but he'd a power guy will break a ton of sacks. His start and stop acceleration are elite. I don't think he has the best top end speed like say a corner or Wr but he has enough speed to be a threat.
-
I'm saying he isn't really a duel threat. His rushing ability isn't something you can take advantage of. If I have to worry about the threat of you running any given down it could cause a mistake in coverage, make a DB hesitant anything, just create more opportunities. I'm not saying running solves darnolds problems. I think he never looks comfortable in the pocket and has consistent happy feet. What I'm saying with Willis is day 1. You have probably a top 3 rushing threat as far as running quarterbacks go in the league you are going to have to respect that. That's a floor. At worse ot creates opportunities opens throwing lanes whatever. A top 10 arm that can challenge any spot on the field. His mobility is going to make DBs have to play in coverage longer than they would like which creates opportunities. Yes he's not drew Brees in terms of processing yet. But from what I seen he's a better thrower than Newton coming out of the draft. He can change up his pitches and has good deep ball accuracy.
