So what is your draft strategy after today?
flagfootballcoach28 replied to Panthero's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do we really think Dan Morgan wants his 18 million DT as a rotational player? Also, what about in Nickel when only two DT’s are on the field? Yes, we run a 3/4 but casual fans don’t realize how often NFL defenses are in Nickel with how pass happy the league is. That’s just a lot of $$ on the sideline watching when we’re in desperate need for help in other places.. We don’t have the luxury to hoard DT’s when we lack talent at LB, edge, CB, WR, Safety, TE, RB etc. I’m a huge Graham fan, but I’d be stunned if we take him given how much money we have invested in DT. -

How many DT’s do we need? We already have D Brown, Wharton, Bobby Brown, A Robinson, Tuttle, Ray all under contract. That would be a poor allocation of resources with how many other holes we have. That’s a lot of $$ on the sideline watching. -
Would’ve been nice to get him around 23.5 million under Surtain.. I’m always left feeling like we over payed with literally every signing for the past few years under Dan Morgan. I get that we pay the “bad team tax” but I still question Morgans and Brandt Tillis negotiating skills time and time again

Just to play devils advocate, Danielle Hunter was pick #88.. Picking a player similar to Hunter’s profile at pick 8 is extremely risky.

I’d rather have Osa Odighizuwa from the Cowboys. Similar player who wasn’t carried by the elite Eagles D-line. Probably cheaper. Only 1 year older.

Charlie Campbell... Mykel Williams?
flagfootballcoach28 replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
And he had 1.5 sacks each of the last 3 seasons. It’s one thing to have a fluke season of a low sack rate, high pressure rate, but he struggled to get sacks every single year…Plus, if’s not like he’s getting crap coaching and resources, He’s at a top tier power 5 football school. A guy like Walter Nolan had more sacks in 1 season at a harder position to get sacks at than Shemar Stewart had in his entire career. Can he be a stud? Yes. Do I want to the Panthers to be the team to play Roulette with him? Nah, I’m good. I’d much rather trade back, pick up an extra 2nd and pick up Landon Jackson or Prince from Ole Miss. Both guys have elite traits (not as high has Shemar) but way more production then Shemar. Best of both worlds at a cheaper price. -
That’s what happens when you consistently draft like poo.

Both aren’t ideal imo, but give me Shemar Stewart over Mykel Williams. -
Not a huge fan. Lacks athleticism. I’d rather rebuild the TE room another way unless they take a 6th or 7th but I highly doubt they would accept that

Meet Our New MLB - Danny Stutsman
flagfootballcoach28 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
He ran a 4.52. Wasn’t expecting that from him. I’d be ok with it -
I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from Ty Robinson, Aeneas Pebbles, Joshua Farmer during their workouts today. Great day 2 and 3 prospects who move extremely well, plus good tape and production to match.

I Think Ashton Jeanty will be the Pick at #8
flagfootballcoach28 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jeanty is one hell of a RB. I’m really looking forward to watching him play, but it won’t be in a Panthers uniform. I’d love to draft a RB in the 5th in this extremely deep RB class, so I get your sentiment. -
How will projections and upside make him grow 3 inches taller? Again, I like Walker. Just not at 8. Too much of a tweener. That's coming from a guy who has watched a lot of his game film, not just his highlight tapes. I like my top 10 picks to have the proper physical traits. As Bill Parcels said “Big men win you football games” I’d like to stay away from the exceptions, not the rule. I’d rather just sign a guy like Nick Bolton in FA to play ILB even if we have to overpay a little bit. He would be perfect Ideally, we need a pure edge at #8. There is no edge prospect at 8 that is worth the pick. It would be a major reach So, then what? Daft BPA at a position that makes sense for the team. Johnson, Tet, Warren would be those guys in my opinion. But since the Panthers always draft on potential and upside, I fully expect Jalon Walker to be the pick. If so, I hope he becomes a stud. I’ll gladly eat my crow if he turns out to be the player a lot of you think he will become. At the end of the day, I just want to see this team win.

Ignore this guy. This keyboard warrior would rather focus on “got ya” moments than actually have a healthy debate about a player. Tbh I’m surprised he hasn’t been banned yet. Dude is either a troll or has serious mental health issues. But tbh, I’ve also seen mocks of Jalon Walker in the 2nd.
-
He definitely is a hybrid. 1st down- 5 yards off the ball ILB. Passing situations- edge. That’s the proper way to use him. UGA even used him as a hybrid. We must have different definitions. I like Walker. I think he’s a good player. I just think there’s better options at #8. Only time will tell.
-
To take an ILB at #8, he better be a transcended player like a Luke Kuechly. Jalon Walker is not in that stratosphere. The value just isn’t there. There’s a handful of ILB like Barrett Carter, Demetrius Knight Jr, Chris Paul Jr that will be available in third round I really like and would present way better value. At #8? Give me a Will Johnson, Tet, Warren over a hybrid LB.

Here’s the keyboard warrior at it again lol. Once again, have you actually watched his film? If so, what was your take away? Or are you going to stick to immature insults?
-
Great insight. How many of his games have you watched?
