I think many are still rightfully mired in Panthers PTSD. How many times in the past have we started to feel encouraged by an emerging player only to have our feel good demolished? Too many. It looks so good on film but the sinking ‘here we go again’ still rings loudly… even more so over the last 5 years.

Luke was BPA at a time when we already had Beason and Thomas Davis. Certainly not a need pick. When you go BPA, you are far more likely to get a true day 1 starter with all pro potential. Draft for need is almost always a reach. How have reaches worked out for this team up to this point?

It’s not just that he has the drops, it’s that he drops routine stuff. Yes, he has come up clutch, especially in the red zone, but his drops are brutal. Typical panthers reach on a local with good measurables but no consistent college production to show for it. He can catch with his hands but likes to body catch the routine grabs and probably loses focus in the process since it’s routine and all. He needs a sports psychologist and a jugs machine.

I’ll get poo’ed I know. 1. this is the perfect scenario where bad teams may get a little high on themselves and get their doors get blown off. 2. Panthers history with Dallas in the regular season is not exactly great. Dallas is playing bad ball currently, but they’re still Dallas. Panthers always get screwed by the refs when they play. My head and heart are conflicted.

BPA, preferably on defense. If it’s an o lineman, ever better. Run stuffing DT? Yup. The Panthers way is to see a cavern of fools gold instead of the fist sized chunk of platinum hiding in the back. Where have I seen this before.. Start weak, finish strong, draft for need thinking they’re only a few pieces away. Now convinced of a deep playoff run only to be exposed (brought the fools gold up to the counter) when it doesn’t pan (pun intended) out… because what he thought he had, he actually didn’t. The next savvy miner laughs at distractions, finds said platinum and now has life altering riches off of what could have been his. A top 5 pick is our chance to land a legit all pro. Can that happen with a needs based draft? yes. But we’re not there yet. We are close to competing, but sorely need depth. This is where good teams stay good and inversely the reason why this org can’t have winning seasons back to back. think about this. We now play most of our games on turf. Tampa is the only team in our division with real grass. Key injuries are going to occur. Plan accordingly. Fill need spots in free agency and draft BPA.

Shoot, I did forget about his injury history. This team has danced that dance far too many times.

I was just thinking about this. Add Tee Higgins, extend Horn, get Brown back, and work on pass rush and o line depth and this is an 8+ win team next season in contention for the division. This is the best secondary I can remember us having in a decade. Think about that. Opposing QB are double and triple clutching balls because dudes are locked down, but our rush doesn’t get consistent heat, and they can only cover for so long. Horn has to be retained. His skill set is perhaps the most difficult to hit on outside of a QB. He is the glue back there.

Sanders and XL took 14 points off the board and what, at least 100 yards? Im still high on Sanders. XL I’m 50/50 on. Coker will be a legit #2, quickly. I want XL to be mad at himself after today. You can tell Chuba was. I sincerely hope Thielen and Chuba work with this dude. Brooks to me is a write off. Sorry. If he ends up being anything, cool beans, but that is a colossal whiff.

I will further my tail tuck in saying that no team in contention for a playoff spot wants to play this team right now, SPECIFICALLY because of BY. This team made the EAGLES sweat hard in the last 2 minutes with no timeouts. The Eagles. Can y’all imagine this team with Tee Higgins, D. Brown and a primo pass rusher? I’ll rewatch this game, at least once.

All game, he did the Eagles dirty. He was pressured on EVERY dropback. Every damn one, and time and time again he dished it. That throw out of the end zone… I don’t know what the hell that was. Ruthless. Their DC had to wonder who this kid is. We finally have a QB that players will want to play for. He is him. I have seen enough. That pick was the only wrong throw I’ve seen from him in weeks. After game 2, I would have bet every dollar to my name that Young would be out of the NFL in 2 years, CONFIDENTLY. I would have put my house, 3 dogs and 3 cats on the bet too. Kid has game. Crow. All day crow. Well done, sir.

Coker, Thielen, Moore or Sanders all catch that ball. This coaching staff will show what they’re made of if they can mold XL.

I’ll further this in that the org basically lucked their way in to 89. They drafted him to be a returner with WR potential. In no way did they think this is going to be the best #1 receiver to ever play for this team.
