  1. Hope for the best, asolutely expect the worst and assume that it's likely a premature (but 100% deserved) end to the Rhule/Fitts era. It'll probably just take 2-3 years of flailing for all that to come to pass. At which point the fan base is pretty much gutted and the support for a municipally funded new stadium is nil and the future of the Panthers in Charlotte is very much in doubt.
  2. I have zero ill will toward Teddy. He is who he is. It's our fault for signing him expecting more. That's 100% on us.
  3. Disagree. Trubisky has been better and has a higher ceiling. I still seriously doubt that he's the answer, but he's a level above Teddy anyway you slice it.
  4. He was much better than Foles in that offense and Foles won a SB. Nagy = Gase 2.0.
  5. Yeah, that bridge has burned and the rubble cleared at this point. That relationship is over. Teddy would probably have minimal interest in helping mentor a rookie after this. Sure, he'd show up and do his job but I doubt he'd do anything above and beyond that to help his soon to be replacement along after we've pretty thoroughly dragged him through the mud.
  6. The only way I would be onboard with rolling the dice on a Trubisky rehab effort is if we feel certain we can unload Teddy's contract via trade so that he would "only" hit us for $10M this year.
  7. Panthers fans at the home opener I guess I should've posted raucous cheering, because let's be honest... BOA would be full of opposing fans.
  8. Yeah, we would do that. I don't think Houston would be interested in Shaq and his contract though. He needs to be released or restructured after this season.
  9. Yeah, I would call any of that "rumors". Trubisky is definitely better than Teddy, but when you combine his contract with Teddy's dead money you'd essentially be paying elite QB money for Mitch Trubisky. I'll pass on that. For the record, after we signed Teddy and the Bears signed Foles, I said we should've just tried to swing a trade for Trubisky if we were definitely moving on from Cam. Trubisky has upside. Teddy didn't. I'm genuinely curious to see what Trubisky can do away from Nagy. I'm about convinced that Nagy is another Gase. Foles looked absolutely dreadful under his tutelage too. I just don't think we're in a great situation to be the team that rolls those dice due to having to eat Teddy's contract. We rolled our dice on a bridge QB and it came up snake eyes.
  10. There were very few people excited about the idea of signing Teddy. I certainly wasn't among them.
  11. Yeah, I don't think so either but I can still wish. I just think we're highly likely to end up with the Teddy situation 2.0 if we get desperate.
  12. If we strike out on Watson and strike out in the draft, I'm ready to cut Teddy and just let Grier deliver that '22 #1 overall pick.
  13. If we strike out on Watson and strike out in the draft, Trubisky would be an upgrade from Teddy. I just wouldn't want to pay him elite money. I mean, you wouldn't have to but his contract plus Teddy's dead money would equal elite money.
  14. I don't agree with this. I'd honestly rather do nothing at all than send #8 and more to Philly for Wentz.
  15. Agreed. Carr is good, Gruden just always thinks the QB grass is greener on the other side of the fence. If Gruden stupidly parts ways with him we should absolutely be (very) interested. We just made a very aggressive trade offer for a QB with virtually identical stats this season who is four years older.
  16. With Detroit and Philly very possibly looking at QBs and also holding (or in Philly's case about to he holding) much better draft trade capital than us, I think our draft chances are dropping to near zero if I'm being honest. That WFT win might really bite us in the ass.
  17. This is NOT good for us. This makes the Eagles almost certainly to take a QB in the 1st. They're already ahead of us in the draft order and after a Wentz trade they'll have more draft capital to swing a trade up if need be. With Stafford and Wentz getting traded, that's two breaks that went badly against us for a QB at #8.
  18. Let me wrap my head around this one... Trading for an injury plagued former MVP caliber QB a year after cutting an injury plagued ACTUAL MVP QB? Good grief, this would be the very definition of NFL desperation.
  19. He always laid super low. Didn't care at all about the fame. Just wanted to do his job and go home. I can definitely understand that.
  20. Fields is definitely an intriguing prospect but he also definitely runs hot/cold. In all fairness, so did Cam. Jimmy G is definitely better than Teddy. I don't think he's a LOT better but definitely better. I still don't think he's good enough and when combined with the notable durability concerns I think he's just a flat out no go IMO.
  21. Evidently these guys are going to engage in a one on one QBing battle for the Lombardi this Sunday. The national media can hardly even mention the actual teams involved. It's all about Brady vs. Mahomes. I understand that QBs get most of the hype, but this has been over the top. I don't think that Tepper is failing to recognize it though. If you want national attention, you better have a superstar QB.
  22. IMO, one of the most underrated Panthers. The guy was a very good CB but never got a ton of press because he just quietly did his job. He was basically Bradberry before Bradberry. At least we were smart enough to hang onto the first iteration.
  23. He still played three more seasons. He was just a VERY physical old school CB and that style of play basically got outlawed.
  24. I'm not going to know what to think about Fields until I know whether or not he puts a towel over his head on the sideline and if Nolan Nawrocki deems his smile as fake.
