Go on record. Who still wants Watson?
LinvilleGorge replied to Sasquatch's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is such a weird story. These ladies really didn't do themselves any favors choosing this self-aggrandizing attorney who has claimed connections to Texans ownership. -
Next years Salary Cap? Absolutely insane?
LinvilleGorge replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
The players who signed long-term deals this off-season are really going to be kicking themselves. If there's ever been a year to bet on yourself with a one year "prove it deal", this was that year. -
What was the boldest move the franchise DIDN'T make
LinvilleGorge replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hurney was trying to trade up for Jimmy Clausen. Exactly how high he was trying to get and what he was offering I don't know, but thank god no one took the bait he was dangling. -
"I'll be shocked if it's not Mac Jones to 49ers."

Word is they love Lance though. If the Niners take Jones leaving Fields and Lance both available, I think they go Lance knowing he'll have a year and if needed two to sit and develop behind Ryan. Sure, Ryan won't be pleased but this is how it goes in the NFL when you're in your late 30s. The team has to start preparing for their future. And maybe it creates a Rodgers type situation where looking over his shoulder spurs another MVP caliber season. -
Ultimate Raiders Fan home... in Maryland

Could you imagine what this place looked like BEFORE the listing pictures were taken? This was as "normal" as they could get the place looking without a total overhaul. -

Yeah, I'm sure the Niners and Packers deeply regret setting themselves up to have back to back elite franchise QBs. -
If the Niners take Jones at #3 and the Falcons either take Lance or a non-QB, we absolutely need to be on the phone with Cincy at #5 to try to get Fields.

Bold as in, "Woah, that's an aggressive move and maybe not one a lot of other franchises would've made" type bold? Honestly, probably giving up two 1st rounders to sign Sean Gilbert to a massive contract out from under the Redskins' franchise tag. Bold doesn't always work out well.

Seems like these are the exact kind of guys who have been slipping down draft boards for the last 20 years and end up making the best NFL OTs. If Jordan Gross was to measure in today, everyone would be screaming he's an OG. I'll take a elite feet with slightly subpar height and length over ideal high and length with subpar feet all day everyday.

Over the years, those positions have been "successful" picks for us. All those 1st rounders have yielded a lot of very good players for us... at low value positions. What people can't understand is that there's an opportunity cost there. Every premium pick spent on a low value position could've been spent at a higher value position. I'd take a good LT over a great RB. A good DE over a great off the ball LB.

Jeremy Chinn is gonna be the leader of this defense for years to come.

If we land Fields do we give him the #1 jersey?
LinvilleGorge replied to Gipetto's topic in Carolina Panthers
Won't happen until he retires from the NFL but it will afterwards -

No. -
That's be my bet. But honestly, there's four - maybe five if this Jones talk is accurate - high 1st round QB prospects. That's a lot of talent coming in. Even taking away my man crush on Wilson, there's just a decent chance that one or more of these guys ends up better than Lawrence whether it's because they're flat out better or their organization does a better job of building around them.

Watson was my first option but who knows what's happening on that front. I'd LOVE to draft a QB in the 1st but I'm not sure it's going to be possible and the trade up market has already been established and it's STEEP. A boom or bust mid-rounder or vet might be our best bad option. Either way, the best option is NOT Teddy Bridgewater on a $23M cap hit.

Honestly, it's not the worst idea in the world. If he improves and shows he can be the answer, great! If he doesn't and continues on this same path we're going to be in the mix for a top 5 pick.
-
I think there's a decent chance that five years from now Lawrence isn't the best QB out of this draft class.
-
Give me Jimmy G. He's on IR early in the year and we cruise to Sam Howell with Will Grier starting at QB.
-
There's been reports that we really like Fields. Pretty much crickets on Lance. Thus far, this new regime hasn't seemed too adept at smokescreens.

Yeah, I concede that it's very possible they take a QB I'm just going on a hunch that they won't. I mean, he threw for over 4500 yards and 26 TDs vs. 11 INTs last year.
