I imagine things are pretty much stalled until there's some clarity to this situation.

Certainly convenient timing and the lawyer behind it is a McNair family friend and neighbor. If Watson and his crew can prove the McNair's are behind it, Watson may be off the table because he might be the new owner of the Houston Texans by the time this is over. LOL!

This desperately needs context. The Texans had a dominant D pre-Watson. Texans defensive ranking by year: 2013 - 7th 2014 - 16th 2015 - 3rd 2016 - 1st 2017 - 20th 2018 - 12th (11-5) 2019 - 28th 2020 - 30th The average ranking in the four years prior to Watson was 6.75. The average ranking in Watson's four years was 22.5.

Oh wee mayne.

I'd take a conditional 7th next year just to unload his contract.

Report: The Panthers are "locked on Watson"
LinvilleGorge replied to MVPccaffrey's topic in Carolina Panthers
Maybe. With some young elite defenders, good offensive weapons, and a focus on the OL I definitely do not rule out competing for a SB within that timeframe if we add an MVP caliber QB. -

The irony here is that was the Texans pre-Watson. They had a GREAT defense and were a QB away. It just took them a little too long to get their QB and they missed their window. I want to trade for Watson but I want Burns, Brown, and Chinn off the table. -

The Bucs were 5-11, 5-11, and 7-9 over their last three years. Turned out they actually WERE a QB away from competing for a championship and in case you haven't been paying attention, the Saints' QB just retired. -
As good as Watson is, I think if I was in their position I'd do the same. Yeah you're rolling the dice on a talented rookie panning out and plenty don't but you're also retaining a boatload of draft equity that would otherwise be headed to Houston.

You might as well go ahead and get your next alt ready. -
The writing has been on the wall for months. Some people have just performed Olympics level mental gymanstics to deny it.

You think the Bears didn't make the same or similar offer for Watson? I doubt it. I can't see being seriously interested in Wilson and not being at least as interested in a similarly elite QB seven years younger. -

Utterly delusional. It's factually true that Tepper retained Hurney for two years after acquiring the team. -

No. That's five 1st rounders. Can't do that. -

Just imagine being this cocky about the management of a team with an overall losing record. -

I'm absolutely fine with Watson being Plan A, but I sure hope we aren't putting all of our eggs in that basket. -

I hope that is juicy because that's as click baity as headlines get. -
Falcons restructure Matt Ryan's contract

I'm not buying into Tepper wanting to continually field a loser. I don't think he's as accustomed to accepting a loser as you seem to be. -

They're really dumb if they'd say never. I'd gladly fleece a division rival if they were willing to grossly overpay. Yeah, I'm sure Tepper is just thrilled that the more this organization gets his fingerprints on it the worse we look. -

Call with a dumb enough offer and they would. We're desperate, so I gotta leave a little wiggle room. -
Yep. If the Jets want him they're in by far the best position to get him. I've been saying for awhile now that for us to get him, we basically need the Jets and Dolphins to bow out of the race due to the cost of the trade and/or they're sold on other options whether those other options are QBs in the draft or QBs currently on their roster. Our hope resides on the fact that this is a strong QB draft class and the Dolphins have a guy on the roster they drafted #3 overall just a year ago.
