  1. Classic Hurney "pay a JAG like he's decent and maybe he'll actually be decent" signing.
  2. Sure, he could be. So could anyone else who isn't going to be one of the top 3-4 guys drafted at his position. No one here is trashing Jones that I'm seeing. Most of us just want no part of him where we're drafting in the 1st round. Mac Jones at #8 is crazy talk.
  3. Neither did the massive list of other really good physically limited college QBs who busted. There are always going to be some exceptions. Kinda like how Norman became an elite NFL CB despite running a 4.66. But that's also why he was a 5th round pick. I'm not completely opposed to Mac Jones. I'm just completely opposed to Mac Jones in the top 25 or so.
  4. I hope we stay away from Ertz. He looks shot IMO.
  5. One we get past Watson and high 1st round picks, the odds of finding the long-term answer pretty much become long shots. If Watson doesn't work out and a high 1st round QB doesn't work out, we might be forced to look at the "well, he's better than Teddy" options. I think Minshew fits there. Would I be excited about it? Honestly, nah. But if better options don't work out I'd rather give Minshew a try vs. rolling with Teddy. That's all I'm saying. It's not that hard for me to envision a scenario where Minshew might be our best bad option. I hope we don't get there, but I acknowledge that it's a possibility.
  6. I think playing in the league for as long as he has certainly provides a unique perspective. And a CB would definitely spend a lot of time watching film on QBs so it's not like his opinion on the matter isn't rooted in a lot of relevant experience. The main thing here to realize though is that Sherman is probably doing a bit of projecting here. The reason he slipped to the 5th round was due to his perceived lack of athleticism. Like our own Josh Norman, Sherman is honestly a significantly subpar athlete among NFL CBs. He just has other traits that allows him to more than make up for his athletic shortcomings.
  7. It's not just mobility though. It's also arm strength. If he had a cannon of an arm he'd still be considered a top prospect even with serious mobility concerns.
  8. If we draft him, I have to think that we believe that his issues are coachable. The talent is definitely there.
  9. What's your next troll account going to focus on after Teddy is gone?
  10. Yeah, if I know there's a steaming pile of hot dog poo behind door A, I'm gonna be willing to roll the dice on door B.
  11. I could see it depending on his trade value. There are more teams than ever seemingly desperate at QB. Not all of them are gonna come out of the draft or FA with their guy. The Jags might all of a sudden find themselves with a decently hot commodity.
  12. He checks all the physical boxes and from everything that's come out of the Panthers this off-season that's what we're looking for in our next QB. I won't be surprised if we draft any of the three non-Lawrence "big four" QBs. An intriguing case can be made for any of them.
  13. This would be a prime Hurney move. The only mistake better than the one you can move on from is to double down on the same mistake.
  14. Make it a Traeger and a twelver of good beer and you gotta deal.
  15. I wouldn't rule out Gardner Minshew as a possible third tier option. 1st tier being Deshaun Watson. 2nd tier being high 1st round draft pick. 3rd tier being everything else.
  16. I honestly don't care where Teddy plays next season as long as it's not in Charlotte. Any compensation received I'll view as just icing on the cake.
  17. What he did against Clemson was special for sure. No doubt about that.
  18. I'm significantly less sold on Fields or Lance being there, but I 100% agree that if it's not QB we should be trading down if the opportunity presents itself. IF we make a non-QB pick then the only two positions that make sense to me is LT or shutdown CB. But if we're sitting on the clock at #8 still needing a QB with none available that we want, then we probably need to be trying to secure an extra 1st in '22 because we're likely having these same QB conversations leading up to next year's draft and may need additional trade ammo to have a shot.
  19. I'd rather draft Micah Parsons at #8 than Mac Jones and I absolutely do NOT want to draft an off the ball LB in the top 10.
  20. He's really good at hitting his first read for a reason.
  21. Listen, I don't knock Jones for taking his first wife open read. Hell, that's what you want your QB to do. I'm just saying that it doesn't really translate to the NFL. Herbert did it at Oregon too. That's what that system called for. He showed he was capable of much more as a rookie in the NFL. My doubts with Herbert were primarily mental. Was he capable of more than Oregon asked him to do? My questions with Jones are much more physical. Can he fit the ball into the tighter NFL windows, particularly outside the hashes and down the field? I don't know and that's why I wouldn't take him into late in the 1st at the earliest.
  22. Yeah, when your first read is wide open and way better than the opposition that tends to work a lot.
  23. If we get a duel threat QB I fear he may be imprisoned after one game. If someone was keeping tabs on how often Jones throws to his first read it would be a LOT.
  24. Very different. I always said Herbert had all the physical tools you could want in a QB.
