Because as I’ve said since before the end of the college season, he is the most accurate, smooth, natural passer I’ve just about ever seen in college. The talent he shows on the field is independent of the team around him. I can’t remember anyone in college throwing with better placement and touch and anticipation than him in a long time and I’ve been watching football since before the Panthers existed. His biggest shortcoming is that he’s not a scrambler….ok don’t care. He can maneuver the pocket plenty well and throw better than anyone in the draft. He is legit. The only thing that could hold him back, in my opinion, is injury or bad attitude. We can’t predict either of those things, so from what I can see he’s the most sure thing possible.

There is no price too high in terms of first round picks. You can trade three, and I’d do that in a heartbeat. The only way draft picks could start getting too expensive is if it were something crazy like three firsts, three seconds, three thirds. Three firsts and a second and maybe a third is what I’m comfortable with spending to go get Stroud. You start adding proven players that’s another story, you can absolutely gut your team if you’re stupid about it. But I don’t see that happening. Maybe a scenario where it’s a 1st, a 2nd and Burns, which I’d be ok with.

Jeremiah on Stroud. Don't overlook the compliment.

All three of the top guys have their strengths but the one who is best at getting the football from his hand to the receivers’? Stroud, without question. That’s what I care about. -

Jones is better than Derek Carr?! -
As others have said, I’d rather just spend the extra 1st and go get Stroud. The top three aren’t on the same level. While I wouldn’t mind Richardson, especially if we don’t have to give up anything to get him (and this combine hype will cool off. Long time til the draft for people to go back and watch him on a football field in game situations), but Stroud is head and shoulders above the rest. The ability to put the ball where they want and make good decisions about where they want to put the ball >>>>>>> 4.4 40 and record broad jumps or whatever. Stroud is amazing at those two most important traits, a whole different league from Richardson and yes even better than Young. I’m just glad this Levis hype is cooling down. I mean, I’d love for one of the other teams to fall on that grenade and push a better QB down to us but I was getting nervous that team might end up us.

Ew no. All black. Get rid of silver completely and white only as trim -
Per Matt Miller.. Panthers all in on Richardson?

He’s got potential. Hope he can fix that erratic accuracy. People here complained about Cam’s occasional overthrow, Richardson is Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn before getting glasses compared to Cam. -
If we don’t trade up or trade up in a way that doesn’t take either of our 2nds I would absolutely be on board with sending both 2nds to someone to move up for a pass catcher/rusher. We don’t have that many holes and the more upper tier talent we can add the closer we are to actually being contenders rather than just moving up to the middle of the pack.

Bleh no. Old, broke and inaccurate is a bad combo.

I addressed the first video in my last comment. Nice, but no. The second video wasn’t even close.
-
And that play was was nice, but he only shed individuals, when two guys were there he went down, Cam dragged groups. He pushed piles at the goalline. Allen is a great runner, he’s not a bulldozer when the situation calls for it like Cam. I know I’m nitpicking, and I’ve always agreed that Allen is the closest thing we’ve seen or probably will see. But the goalline dives and bulldozing was really what set him apart. He was stronger than Allen, stronger than any QB when it came to goalline situations or 4th downs in addition to being fast and elusive.
-
Cam was used differently. Allen is different. Not even saying he’s worse or anything, I’m a big fan of Allen. He’s similar to Cam, I’ve been saying his best comp is Cam since I was high on him in his draft. But he’s not “another Cam”. He’s a slightly better passer and a different kind of runner. I didn’t say anything about better. My point is that he’s just not Cam. The combination of really good passer, long speed, and bulldozer is not a combo we’ll likely see again at QB

Heh nice. Didn’t click since YouTube won’t let us embed it

Show me something like this before even thinking about saying he is as physical as Cam was https://youtu.be/B0gDD0YYsb8
-
That’s one play and he got stuffed immediately on contact…he just reached out. If anything that proves my point lol
-
I said he’s the closest but no, I’ve never seen him do what Cam did almost every game on the goal line. I don’t mean “running between the 20s and runs into a LB”. I mean goalline battering ram.
-
It’s not the talent per se, it’s the combination of talent, physicality, athleticism and heart. That was rare. Highly unlikely there will be another Cam. There might be someone who has some of his traits, but not all of them. For example you could say Hurts has some of Cam’s talent and all of his athleticism, but he doesn’t have his physicality as the team’s goal line battering ram. Josh Allen might be the closest but he’s still lacking Cam’s physicality and possibly that intangible … if you don’t wanna call it heart, call it killer instinct or something.

Not if we have to trade for him.

Sign one and draft one in the second.

S2 Cognitive test points to NFL Success

Interesting. -
Good data. I wouldn’t have guessed he was statistically better than Stafford, especially considering he’s had worse weapons by a fair margin over the course of those 9 years. Coaching I’d say is about equally bad.

NFL.com ranks Carolina 2022 draft class as worst in NFC South
JawnyBlaze replied to rebelrouser's topic in Carolina Panthers
Eh, we’ll see. Icky was a slam dunk, it was a great draft for him alone. Other than Corral the others still have a good shot at developing into good players. I only say not Corral because we’re obviously going after someone else this year and he won’t get much opportunity. -
Saw this earlier. Crazy. Never liked the dude
