Athleticism is definitely a factor. These guy's would not be here if they weren't. All of the qbs coming out in recent years are very athletic. That is the reality of the kids playing at the college level. The nfl has been trying to adjust to the evolution of the prospects coming into the league. There's no such thing as a pocket passer qb anymore. The colleges are just not producing those types of QBs. The game has evolved to a point that inorder to compete you need a qb with some mobility. They need enough mobility to make things happen to keep a drive alive in the big game. You are competing against the likes of Mahomes, Hurts, Burrow, Allen, you get the picture.

Absolutely, I want the smartest most accurate guy there is behind center. Look at it this way. If the guy already has great footwork, anticipation and can also fit it in tight windows as a rookie coming out of college that is guy you want to look at. Those natural abilities that are difficult to teach is invaluable to a rookie. It slows down the game for them because they are not thinking about their mechanics while still trying to read a defense. They are not going to have wide open receivers all the time at this level.

There's still time for them to screw it up somehow.

I've heard that his offense can be hard to master for the average qb. Not sure what that means. I assume it to mean it has a library of plays and concepts to learn to fully master it. I'm sure he can adapt it to the abilities of his qb as he's done in the past. The only difference would be that this would be the first time he's had the opportunity to select who he thinks can master it from the draft. The only other thing that could upset that would be that they could not manage to get the guy they wanted for whatever reason. But I am confident that they will get one of the 2 guys they will have it narrowed down to.

I thought I heard someone on Total Access a few weeks back speculate the Howell could be released this offseason. I thought it an odd thing to say at the time but seeing as it's that team I wasn't too shocked. The way Ron sounded in his interview today and as that tweet states, he sure sounded like they would take a qb in this draft. He didn’t sound like he was excited about his current qb situation to me.
-
That doesn't mean athleticism overrides the other two. It doesn't matter how big, fast or strong they are if they aren't accurate enough or smart enough to master the position at this level.

The Panthers will 100% trade up and draft a QB
Jon Snow replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
I didn't say I did. I do know that we could get outbid if some other teams are willing to get in the bidding war. Are you good bro? -
It would certainly would preferable if the starter was already on the roster. But we have not been that lucky since Jake signed here.

It's not speculation when you state it as fact. -
All of these guys are athletic.

The Bears can hold out for whatever they want. But IMO that many picks is a no go for me. -

You cannot say that. You do not know what other teams are willing to offer. The Bears want draft picks and a lot of them. The want more than 3 1sts my friend. You will need to throw in a few 2nds as well just to join the conversation. -
Sorry, I made that same mistake today. Only I thought it was Monday. Thank you for reminding me that I cannot keep up with the day of the week lol.

Because multiple trades like that doesn't happen. Because you are assuming that it will be that easy with everyone interested in trading around. That's just fantasy thinking. -
Did anyone catch these interviews? I had nfl network on the entire time but the didn't show their interviews that I saw. But I wasn't glued to the screen the entire time also.

Ugh, yeah, not going to happen. That's a fantasy football move. -
‘Draft Qb. Panthers can own the South’ Dan O.

All true. But when they got in the playoffs the dominated the competition. It's one thing to cakewalk through your division but its a totally different level when you cakewalk through the playoffs and the SB. -
Panthers met with Hooker per report

You also have to prepare for the possibility that they simply cannot get in a position to take their 1st choice at qb. It takes 2 to tango you know. -
But he's not the only qb who can run the RPO. Also he said that they are not running one specific type of offense so it doesn't mean it's RPO only. The most important thing to Frank is accuracy and what's between the ears. He can teach the rest.

I think every team dreams of that kind if dominance. Even the Patriots are trying to figure out how to get back to that form. But as they've found out you have to find the next Tom Brady to pull it off. -
Yeah that's not anything to take stock in either way. He's not going to give out anything of consequence toward the current roster. About the only time we will really know how they feel about his potential is what the do during and after the draft. My guess is he will have to try to catch on somewhere else.
-
Of course. All these prospects need that kind of support. Unfortunately, he did not get that from his last coach. Kinda wonder if he was the coaches choice or someone else. If it was someone else he may get another shot here. If not, then he will most likely end up traded or on the practice squad if he has anything worth developing.
-
Not sure really. If you believe the reports he's looking for the right situation primarily and the contract is secondary.
-
I would like to know what the staff does think about Corral myself. We have a different set of evaluators minus Fitt looking at him. I know Reich had to present his vision for the qb position before he was hired. I'm not going to lose sleep either way.

I gave up watching college basketball and football almost completely. I will watch a football game or two if they are on another network occasionally. I have blocked all those ESPN networks on my YouTube TV subscriptions because they were not worth tuning in to. I couldn't tell you what is on those networks anymore.
