It's a matter of perspective. You play the hand you're dealt. I agree there was a couple personnel substitutions a would have made. But without knowing the circumstances behind those decisions I cannot say there were other options. He will have to live with it. I just cannot see what else they could have done other than to fire McAdoo but it's too late for that.

Absolutely no one believes Darnold can take over a game throwing the football. That fact will remain regardless. He can move the chains, maybe. But do not fall under the illusion that he will ever take over a game with throwing the ball. If we cannot run the ball we do not have a chance to win. It's that simple.

You are assuming there were real adjustments to be made to the game plan with this personnel and coaches. Their only hope to win was to run the ball and play good defense. Just like Pittsburgh. They failed miserably at both because Pittsburgh has better players and better coaches than we do. You cannot hire coaches at halftime or expect the players to somehow magically become better. They cannot somehow magically pull a passing game out of their ass because the coaches do not have a qb that could run one to begin with. Nah man, we are a one trick pony and until that changes it is what it is.

There is enough things to warrant Wilks not getting the job but you cannot use the schedule against him. He didn't decide what team we play or what their record will be as does any other coach. He has currently gone 4-3 against .500 teams or below. He is 0-2 against better competition. He started with a 1-5 record gifted to him in a shitty division. All the while using a team he did not build. He's old school and he's not completely wrong in his approach given the circumstances. To win consistently in this league you have to at least be able to run the ball and have a good defense. But you also have to have a balanced offense to be able to keep the opponent guessing. You want to stop the run? Go ahead. We will pick you apart through the air. Want to shut down the pass? Have at it. We will run it down your throat. Until we have the personal to do that we are stuck with what you are seeing now.

You will have to ask Wilks that question. I was hoping someone on the sideline would bring it up during the game but you saw what happened.

Unless you count firing Hurney and Rhule as a positive. I call that a push because he kept one mistake on too long to hire the other mistake and kept the other mistake too long before he corrected that mistake.

All of that is true except for the assurance thing. I do not think he was guaranteed anything other than if he did an incredible job he would get an interview.

It's all a guessing game. It's impossible to know what we will do until a new staff is in place.

I don't know if a new staff will change anything. But they will be the people selecting the qb not the fans. You all can argue until you are blue in the face as to who they should take if you want but it's pointless. Until a new staff is in place we will not have a clue who they may go after in the draft. I'm not going to argue over who they should take. I will be trying to guess who we may be taking when the dust settles after it's all over.

Burrow has proved to be and Lawrence has finally gotten a decent coach so he can show he is as well. If you haven't noticed there's not a lot of good young qbs in the league at the moment.

I think one of them falls down a few spots. Huston will take one of them and the other will fall a bit, maybe out of the top 10 unless someone trades up for them. I just have this weird feeling about those 2.

They will draft a qb this time around. The biggest worry will be who is selecting said qb. I do not think enough fans are thinking about that fact. Until the FO staff and coaches are settled nothing else matters.

I hope that outside advice includes an evaluation of Fitterer as well. As far as I'm concerned he can go as well.

Without a decent qb you will never know how good our weapons really are outside of TE. We knew they have sucked for years.

Wilks isn't even guaranteed an interview right now. Even if he somehow got them to win out he's not guaranteed an interview much less the job. I don't think you need to worry about him getting the job regardless of the finish unless they somehow win a playoff game or two.
