Wherever they put him on the oline I hope it's Campen who makes that call.

Brady didn't have any experience that qualified in for consideration. He got hired just like Rhule did, on hype only. He road in on breif connections to Sean Payton and Joe Burrow through the media mouth breathers. He had zero offensive coordinator experience at any level. It was a terrible decision to put him in charge of an nfl offense and Rhule found out the hard way. I'm sure Tepper made that perfectly clear in one of his hard question sessions. Probably the day before Rhule corrected that mistake.

Moved out of a developmental 20 years ago and will never go back to that ever again.

That's a lot of "if's" to overcome. I personally cannot see them being any worse than last season. It's almost impossible with an experienced nfl staff now in key places. Putting Joe Brady in charge of an nfl offense was beyond idiotic. I'm still having trouble comprehending that decision.

Is the "Legion of Boom" approach obsolete?
Jon Snow replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
It goes in cycles, always has. Remember the "Greatest Show on Turf" the Rams made famous? It was until John Fox built a defense that put Mike Martz into retirement. Fox also put together a similar offense with another no name qb that came a shanked kick and Tommy John from being a HOF qb himself. It comes in cycles. Given the new rules favoring offenses it's imperative the defense evolve for a better competitive advantage. -
You folks are just going to have to accept the fact that Rhule got a mulligan for season 1. The clock started ticking last season. Season one went according to the process. Season 2 is upon us and this is where the team is supposed follow that same trajectory...according to the process. So we should expect a 10 win season? Discuss.

Wish him luck either way.

He sucked at whatever he tried out for is the most obvious conclusion.

Motivational speeches? He's a place holder for the next candidate for the $65 million jackpot. Early on in this saga I once thought I understood some of the madness behind the hire. Well the salary and the contract length at least. Didn't know anything about Rhule other than what was spouted on here. But I was more focused on the fact that Hurney was in charge of the search. I knew it would end up FUBAR. Back to the contract, the salary and length is what attracts the best coaches if you think about it. Let's assume for a minute that we have a GM that can recognize said candidates. Tepper is letting it be known that he's serious about building a perennial contender in Carolina. In theory, I know but hear me out, in theory that should be enough to attract the very best coaches in the league. Yes, it also attracts every bullshit artist wannabe in football. For all of that to work you have to have an owner and GM the know the difference. The first attempt says the first iteration of owner/gm didn't know the difference.

Watch them massively overpay him. Burns is not a difference maker and should not be paid as one. But this team hands out overpaid contracts like Halloween candy.

Defensive approach goes in cycles just like offenses. We started out as a team in a 3-4 with 2 high safeties if I remember correctly. It was that way under Capers and it worked until the offenses figured out a way to neutralize it. Now its a thing again, but in reality it never really went away because it will always be some coaches preferred bread and butter style. There are only so many ways you can arrange 11 guys on defense to reek havoc. Eventually someone will figure out how to beat whatever you are doing. You have to always evolve and/or adapt your team and your approach if you want to be successful in this league . -
Apparently in Rhules mind they were, or at least on that particular Sunday. Hard to say as the starting 5 were never the same.

I didn't say that they knew who the best player was. That's a different story altogether. Just because they say the best player starts doesn't mean they know who that is.

He's just repeating what the coach and team's philosophy is. What's the issue here?

What Are The Chances that Christian McCaffrey Stays Healthy?
Jon Snow replied to Pantha-kun's topic in Carolina Panthers
Depends how the team is doing. If they are sucking he will make a business decision and go out with a hang nail strain. -
I would much prefer that Sam get the abuse until the oline gels at least. When that happens if the kid is ready for the big show put his ass out there. Whoever starts at qb is going to have a rough go at first. The oline my have bright new faces but don't assume they will magically be top 10 right out of the gate.

Now that you have compared and contrasted what each inherited in players let's compare their years of nfl experience. Go.

Yes, foolishly extending a blocking TE for more than he was worth.

Cut Ian Thomas now. Eat the contract and roll with Big Time all the way to the SB. I'm down with what McAdoo's got cooking.

If you are just looking for an occasional winning season and playoff appearance now and then I guess it's good enough for some. Sustainable success means owning the nfcs and being at the top of the nfc every damn season. Not once every 10 years.

What I have not seen mentioned about the previous coaches is that yes they did get the team in the playoffs in short order but they couldn't build on that success. It was always a one hit wonder with those guys. It's easy to assemble a playoff team in a couple of seasons if you have enough talent on the team from the jump. It is much more difficult to build a perennial contender. That takes years of smart drafting and selective FA signings to keep the team strong and competitive. In short, yes previous coaches had success sooner but they could not sustain it because they didn't know how. If the had they would still be here. I say that as someone who is not a Matt Rhule fan and I hate to even have to bring it up.
